After Reading the FAQ and see that there will be sadly no Character creater in DA keep, personally i would really like that in the keep.

But i have discussed this with some of my gaming friends even if they put something like this in Dragon age keep fans would still use it, they may say that the warden or hawke doesnt look the way they did in the previous games but they still would use it and use it in DAI.

Even if it is difficult with a new Engine bioware could at least put a rudimentary program with the same default faces you had to choose in each beginning , then and people would have at least a month to make the face as detailed as possible.

A. That there would be no character creator has been known for some time.

B. We don't know that Hawke or the Warden will make an appearance at all

Unless it gets confirmed that Hawke or Warden are in Inquisition, I see no reason to have a CC to rebuild them really

Only 5? Well that's a little inconvenient as I have 30+ Wardens/Hawkes.

Same here, but only a few are considered canon, and am expecting to be able to delete and refill a slot if needed. The Keep sounds like a blast to use, and am looking forward to it.

Everyone who has 6 or more origins playthroughs, how much are they honestly different besides the race?  You could always just modify one world state to change the race, especially if all the choices were the exact same.  No real need for a new state when its just a carbon copy of the other with one or two things changed is there?

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to Keep or I never would've joined the sad panda club ;D At least in Origins there is quite alot of combinations you can do with choices so my Wardens (not all mind you) are pretty different. Oh well, I just hold on to my spread sheet:)

Uh, some more than others? Really, I don't have any two playthroughs that are almost exactly the same, but since there's only so many choices in any given situation, of course some will be somewhat similar.

I would prefer to have them intact.

I'm probably different, I generally didn't deviate from  all my playthroughs.  Always made Zathrian see reason, always put Bhelen on the throne (except for my Dwarf Noble, that just seemed wrong), always destroyed the anvil, always helped the circle.  I only have one DA2 playthrough, so I can't compare.

5 is the arbitrary number for now - we have to start with something.  From that we can estimate storage size vs how many people we expect to use Keep etc. So final number could still change.  Also, bear in mind that once you've imported the world state into DAI you could technically free up that slot again on Keep.

Lastly, to customize a world state you always need to go into the Keep and do that there (after which you set it to be ready for import into DAI) - however, if you just want to import a world state that you previously set to be ready for import, then you just stay in-game and import on new game start, without having to go back to Keep.

Hope that helps,

F.

Ok, but can all five be set for import so you can choose the one you want in game, or do you have to set one of the five for import then go back to the keep to set a different one if you want to choose a different one?

What if I told you 6 months ago there was approx 2 billion valid solutions for the DAO section involving the landsmeet, romance, and ending?
that was a long time ago...

The game asks the Keep for it's "current" state, so to speak, so no.

My understanding is that much of the logic as possible is being intentionally handled by the Keep because it mitigates the chances that import issues are a result of the game (as opposed to the Keep).

This is a litle worrying since it implies that despite being a single players story-based game, it's nonetheless "online only" with all the possible snags that that entails...

The data is coming from the Keep regardless, so the "online only" concerns aren't really affected by this.  If this is a concern, it's already here.

They have already stated that you only need to be online when starting a game if you want to import a world state from the keep. After you import the world state you  don't have to be online anymore. The problem I see is that I will have to go to the keep before starting a game to choose which world state I want to use. Taking more time away from playing in the game especially if I finish one game and want to start another. This means that I will have to leave the game, go to the keep, choose a different world state, start up the game again, then finally start my new game.

It would take you all of a minute to log into a website and choose from a list of your states, while the extra step is slightly unexpected, it is hardly a time sink.

True, but very inconvenient. Why should I have to leave the game to start a new one.

As far as the logic is concerned what does that have to do with the import process? The game will still have two choices available when you start a new game anyway. The default and the Keep choice. Why would having more choices from the Keep make a difference?

Re-reading that I might have misinterpreted, so if you're feeling generous, allow me to clarify:

Is DAI more or less constantly rechecking the current world state against data stored (presmably online) within the Keep, or does it download the data when you start a game and then stick to it?

Your previous statement made it sound like the former, but like I said, maybe I misunderstood.  If it's the latter case, then my concern is retracted.

When you create a new game you can choose to import which looks at the Keep and retrieves the game state. Once you do this you never need to be online again.

To pick a different state simply go onto the Keep and set a different one and when you pick New Game it will use that one if you import. Only time you need to be online is at new game.

What if we allow more choices on the Keep and that change creates a bug in the GUI for all games?

Then why have a default one? It can still cause the same thing.

So will these 5 file saves that we create be stored into the keep and we just take one of them out when we start a new game or can they be inputted into the game and we won't have to go back to the keep if we wish to stick with just these 5 file saves and just have to be online when we click "New Game" and just choose from the list of the five?

Hope my question was clear.  :)

Edit: Read over the your post a few more times. So we still have to go back onto the Keep to select from the five file saves we created or will the game retrieve the list of five? We can only take one out at a time? Sorry just trying to get clarification.

Peachy keen, thanks for the clarification, and sorry for getting all accusatory due to my own misunderstanding.
