As to the rest, I can only follow that reasoning up to a point. Bugfixing may be easier having the Keep on-line in one place, but exactly what key argument is there against an off-line version once said bug-fixing for the events of DA:O and DA2-choices within the Keep is complete? Since we are looking at a closed-off set of choices there, it's bound to be done at some point.

The Keep is not done at some point. They can continuously add new stuff to it and they can't once it is an offline program. The program would also need to be recreated to even work on different platforms. Bug fixing is almost never done before release and with an offline Keep there is no update possibility and if you can update it while connecting to the Internet the cost will be for Bioware as they have to pay Sony and Microsoft for the bandwidth used, which can add up. This is another reason why developers tend to claim that bug fixing after release is far more consuming (time and money) than doing the same task before release.

As with most software not every issue will be caught before release, I doubt the Keep will be any different and an offline Keep would complicate everything.

Note that I do not even expect BW to provide an offline-way to lock in choices prior to release of both DA:O and DA2, both of which did not have such an on-line requirement, faulty import-system or no.

All I am saying is, strictly looking at these two prior games BW should be able to lay a ground-work that they can continuously update online, yes, but at some point that ground-work can be expected to be in a solid enough state that keeping it permanently online should not be mandatory any longer. Getting the basic ground-work of these plot-flags right was stated as a reason on BW's end to approach the Keep the way they do, and looking further down the line, I don't see the fundamental problem of offering a final version with a sound enough infrastructure of these for further DA-games released off-line.

Bug-fixing certainly is a post-release task for developers in general - one that should by all means be expected! -, I did not deny that, yet it is also a reality that one can surmise that in many cases, this is left incomplete due to patching-support being cancelled prematurely. Only look to certain glitches of BW's last product, ME3, as an example (more specifically, the spot to be stuck in inside the Normandy's cockpit).

The problem is with patching bugs is not all of them are fixable after a game goes live or fixing one issue causes three other things to break, which could be why they never fully fixed the cockpit in Mass Effect 3, but it did feel like to me the area you could get stuck in got much smaller over time.

They certainly did patch out the area on the Citadel where you could fall through the geometry. I actually thought that one was kinda fun.

I agree that there's no fundamental problem there, eventually. But I can see this failing an ROI test even when it becomes feasible.

For reference:

how does this work with console systems? because for ps3 you sign into the psn, in origins and in da2 you sign into bioware/EA servers, is that how its gonna work for Inquisition or will it just say sign into your origin account? and do we have to be online while we play the entire game or just when we are importing our world state from the keep into the game?

Load up the game, it will prompt you to log into Origins if online, download your world state if you already have one, and you're done.  You don't have to ever be online past that fact unless you want it to upload your info to the Keep.

Sadly for me being online at all is a matter of luck on my ps3, and even then the connection is so bad I'm lucky if I can do anything with it before losing it again...

If I say how, you'll all just rightfully say, "Well is what you get freeloader..."  Or call me criminal...  Which technically would be true I suppose, but, otherwise I'd have no net at all :(

Take your PS3 to a friend, hook it up there, enjoy. Additionally, the last few times I was in the US (just assuming you live there, I might be wrong....) there was free Wifi even at a gas station in the desert...

So bring my tv and ps3 to someplace with wifi and find somewhere to discrete hook it up? O.o as for bringing it to a friends house, you're assuming I have friends homes to bring it to :(

Why be discreet?  If you buy a cup of coffee, and there's a table free, I see no reason why Starbucks should care if you plug in a tv and ps3 to start DA:I.  In fact, if anyone comes by, it'd more likely be to watch you play than to kick you out...

You can do that? o.o  Wow I might try that then just to see what happens...  assuming I don't chicken out.

One of those cheap (US$49) all-in-one dvd players probably has the right inputs to let you connect your PS3.

No need to lug a huge TV to Starbucks.

The only significant issues will be whether or not you can physically carry the equipment into the location, and whether you're concerned with theft.  People with laptops set up their stuff and sit for an hour(or more) at various places with wifi access.  Knowing this, the only difference between that and doing the same with a TV/Console is that you imply you're going to be there for hours, because why would someone move their TV/Console from the living room?

The time thing can become an issue, but it's easily mitigated if you show up during non-peak hours...  But the only way to know those hours would be to show up to the place and ask...  Hell, you could just ask the week before Inquisition comes out anyway, and get the whole "can I do this?" question answered from the people working there....

Yeah... It really depends on how big the TV is.  I would use my 22-inch flat screen, since it weighs about as much as my Xbox.  But that's because I'd be doing it just to import the game(if i can't connect to the internet at home, come November), and not to play it for an extended period of time...

your world state will be created in the Keep and downloaded to your console. Or if you choose not to create a world state you can use the default which will already be available in game.

Public libraries usually have free wifi and study rooms that can be reserved by the hour. Might be easier than trying to fit everything on a Starbucks table!

You go to the keep website and enter the details of your previous games there.. how you do this is kinda unknown at the moment as those in the beta are under NDA and bioware havent really released any details on it yet. As far as i know the only time you will use origin in when you use your origin account to log in to both the keep and then again on your xbox to download the world state.

There are a few theories on how details are entered but basically its just gonna be a glorified check box system.
