Running MP as a SP offline would be a flat version of SP. If that's what you want, just play SP.

How many times must I repeat myself: - its not about me! It's about people with no internet connection and the "black hole" that will come up in DA:I the moment the EA servers go offline.

Whats wrong to play the co-op maps solo, I just don't see why people must be forced to be online to access the content. We'll probably see (as mentioned earlier) a emulator that makes it possible for people to access co-op solo offline, but I personally thought it would have been best if the developers had made that feature working from the start directly out of the box so to speak.

A persons access to the internet, racial or sexual orientation is not your or mine or anyones business, and "small groups" of people are still people and shall be treated as such and not second rate citizens.

A person lacking access to Internet is comparable to race or sexual orientation? Wow.

Agreed.

The more he makes the comparison the more I'm starting to feel like it's just first world problems. :/

"I own an xbox, playstation or gaming computer and have just gone out and spent $60 on Dragon Age: Inquisition!  Unfortunately, now I can't afford my $14 monthly internet fee, so I can't use the Keep and must play the default worldstate."

Edit:  Also, Heimdall, love your signature by the way.  XD

Edit 2:  And yes, I know that it's not always a matter of whether or not the person can afford an internet connection.  Military men and women play games too, while away on duty and are not always in a position where they have access to a connection.  Largely, this is the situation I was referring to earlier when I agreed that people who don't have internet connection is a legitimate concern.  However, the game does not have DRM - you can in fact play it if you never connect.  You would just have to play the default state the first time around if you have no opportunities to connect to EA's servers for whatever reason at launch.

We get that it's not literally about you. But since you're the one making the stink about it that's why the answers are directed to you.

You can literally take your and turn it into they're and get the same meaning.

To play DAI you don't have to connect to the internet at all, but you won't get all of the benefits as someone who can. That's really no different than anything else in the world that's technology based and it's probably something people without internet are used to at this point.

The developers clearly do not share your mindset about this.

I actually just did a google search for "internet rates"  first thing I saw said $14.99.   I'm actually not sure how much mine is, as I'm not the one who pays it here.  I know it's also bundled in with the phone and the television, so it'd be a portion of whatever that bill is.

Edit:  Yeah, At&t appears to have prices starting at $14.95 - though for *considerably* less speed (6 mbps) and $19.95 for 18 mbps   I can't imagine you would need a superfast internet connection, however - the Keep is just a website.  As long as you can get on to it you should be good - and I doubt At&t would sell you an internet connection so poor you can't actually use the internet.  Seems counterproductive.

Also, just taking a look at my wifi, says I have 54 mbps.  Really can't fathom how slow something like above would be in comparison - but again, as long as it works, you would be able to use the Keep.

You don't see the whole picture (as it had to be scaled), so when you found it on the internet feel free to come back and complain, it's amazing and I cant understand why not everyone is using it  :D

Hm......

An internet user with less than 100 posts on a forum does the following:

  1. Goes to a thread and writes long posts about the topic that run contrary to most of the opinions in the thread.
  2. Makes assumptions about game design and development despite showing little to no credibility in actually working in that particular field, or even in a related profession.
  3. Edits posts LONG after the original posting, putting more text in the edit than in the original post itself.
  4. Equates being without internet to being homosexual.
  5. Calls a poster disrespectful for not having an avatar, despite his avatar being a fairly....bad....one.
  6. Tries to get another poster to waste his time looking for a larger version of his avatar, insisting that it is a good picture, but had to be scaled. - The seriousness of this post could be in dispute.

I recommend people just add Avalonica to their ignore list, he doesn't want to listen and it makes life much simpler.

Also whoever wrote that wired article needs to check it. Elementary mistakes they've made.

I know you don't need that fast, but I enjoy the smoothness of my downloads and the amazingness of my streaming media :)

Not too mention I have a roommate who has a bunch of internet using devices as well as my gf with her own.... it works :)

The developers clearly do not share your mindset about this.

This is the crossroads where we begin to walk two different paths. You are on the easy one where everyone have to be more or less like you or else get a sub-par product. My path is the one of alternatives that go outside the framework.

I am quite sure that there will be no DLC with "the keep" functions, no offline co-op support or LAN/Direct connect multiplay co-op, but you know what... Sim City 2013 was delivered without offline support, and the big popular mmorpgs (no names) had no support for players wanting to run them locally..., where are we today!? And where do you think "the developers clearly do not share your mindset about this" will end up with DA:I down the road?

1. There will be something similar to "the Keep" (probably in the sprit of Gibbed's savegame editors, and if we are lucky he'll make it). Problem solved!

2. Co-op for offline mode is nothing in DA:I compared to the big challenges mmorpg's present regarding emulation, and technically some sort of external software with a lobby/LAN/direct connect IP is nothing impossible under the sun. Problem hopefully solved!

What I however object is the "reasons" why private persons have to make stuff "working as intended" in the first place, just look on the prime example: Sim City 2013 that NEVER could be played offline... sure...

Ignoring a playerbase with no access to internet or that don't want to play online with others trough EA servers (latency/lag etc) is quite easy, but don't come running with complains when 3rd parties come up "technical solutions" like in the Sim City 2013 scenario.

I am sure most people (as it now stands) would welcome that the "ending slidshow" would be put on the web instead of in the game due to "technical reasons" in how hard it might be to update all PC/console copies online if a new dlc come out, and I have to agree! And why not make DA:I text based so the game in its full glory can be put online and run in a web browser? I think you converted me to your course now... yes... I see the light!

Yes, that is exactly what the PR division at EA decided to do with the Mass Effect 3 ending. Just because you remove a warning lamp from a car does not mean the problem is fixed.

In what way have anything in your post relevance to the core of my posts regarding "the keep" or DA:i in general? You are just trolling and seeking digital praise from all others that bash on my posts that truthfully enlighten a serious problems with DA:I

1. No offline access to "The Keep" (and its functions).

2. No offline access to the co-op maps

3. No alternative (LAN/IP) connection methods in DA:I for co-op MP beside the EA servers (despite how games where affected with MP in them when Gamespy closed the doors).

The above 3 "points" is what my posts are all about, and everything escalate all over the place as most of you keep "playing house" as you where the actual developers at Bioware or CEO at EA. You are nothing but private citizens i.e. "gamers" just like me.

What makes most of your arguments pointless is that you don't present any practical solution or idea for them that can help the developers integrate them INTO DA:I. What is wrong with my three pointers!? Is it BAD to be able to access "The Keep" inside DA:I? Is it bad to be able to play co-op offline all alone? Is it bad to have more MP connection alternatives? Sometimes I can't understand what drive people to actually praise restrictions over development! Well, to each of her/his own I guess...

This is the crossroads where we begin to walk two different paths. You are on the easy one where everyone have to be more or less like you or else get a sub-par product. My path is the one of alternatives that go outside the framework.

Yes.  My path advances and flows with technology, while yours does not.  Video games are technology based.  Technology and gaming will not remain stagnant with you.  I feel for the people who have no choice about their inability to utilize the internet, but that doesn't mean companies are obligated to do anything that isn't cost effective.

SimCity required a constant internet connection to play if I recall (I don't play it).  That's not the case with DAI so it's a poor comparison.  I think the developers not providing the things you're asking for will end up just fine.  Aside from the ending debacle of ME3, the MP was a raging success which also required a constant online connection.  The amount of people that will have an issue with an online co-op or online component with the Keep are minimal.  They aren't going to provide offline options (at least for the co-op) because it's not cost effective.  I don't know if they will try to look into offline options for the Keep, but I find it doubtful.

1. There will be something similar to "the Keep" (probably in the sprit of Gibbed's savegame editors, and if we are lucky he'll make it). Problem solved!

1.  I don't know how gibbed, or any offline save generator would work.  To import a save you need to log into your Origin account from the game.  I don't see a way around that, but I'm a psychologist and not a programmer.

2.  Good luck.  No one found a solution to that for ME3 which came out 2 years ago.  Will you be doing it?

Ignoring a playerbase with no access to internet or that don't want to play online with others trough EA servers (latency/lag etc) is quite easy, but don't come running with complains when 3rd parties come up "technical solutions" like in the Sim City 2013 scenario.

If some 3rd party comes up with an offline solution via modding or what have you, kudos to them.  I couldn't care less - I have internet and will be utilizing the game features via a connection.  It doesn't affect me.

I am sure most people (as it now stands) would welcome that the "ending slidshow" would be put on the web instead of in the game due to "technical reasons" in how hard it might be to update all PC/console copies online if a new dlc come out, and I have to agree! No one suggested that.  Let's not resort to the same behavior as my 7 year old when they don't get their way.  Online connections don't have to be all or nothing.  Plenty of people will connect their console or PC to the internet ONE TIME and never do it again when they play DAI.  Some won't connect at all.  Some will stay connected while they play.

The OPTIONS are there.  You just don't like the ones you're given.  What would be crappy would be if someone without internet couldn't play DAI at all, and that's not the case.

*snip*

The path of whining about something that won't change to a bunch of people who neither can change it nor want to change it, going on long rants no one reads, and then implying that everyone else is sheep and that only you saw our inevitable demise coming? Good luck with that. Enjoy making yourself miserable.

No one is offering any pointers to integrate your ideas because they don't feel it is necessary.  And DAI Devs don't either or they would have done something about your issues already.  Your ideas, while they would be nice, are impractical.

People don't typically expect any business or company to put forth something that is impractical or that isn't cost effective.  Anyone with a small amount of business sense can figure that out.  It's not personal.
