This has seriously eased my cautious expectations I previously had about the Keep just taking the bare minimum of choices into account like those "Mass Effect : Prelude" interactive comics did. This seems to be taking into account EVERY single minute detail into account, some I didn't even think would matter as far as being imported. Seriously pleased for this, now I'm sure my Alistair+Warden ruled WorldState will be in tip top shape :3
So i have this theory on how the keep will function or rather the feel of it. I imagine it will have the same vibe as the story telling element DA2 had, with cassandra or varric telling how it all began and you fill in the details as the story goes along. I imagine there to be a large book graphic like the one she had with her at hawke's house and it opens up and the story of dragon age begins. There could also be little mini "cartoons" or well graphics depicting major events/choices made throughout your journey.
Now this is probably nonsensical waffle on my part but i think it would look kinda awesome if it were to have that vibe. And also if this is the wrong place to put these kind of musings then i apologise .
gotta say.. i wasn't too far off in what i thought it was gonna be like. Now i just need to get in to play with it some..... pls mister bioware dev if ur here lurking, can i get in pls.. pretty pls
Well a good number of them may not matter in DAI, as I recall hearing that some options were added at the request of testers. However the variables will be there, so the option of them some day mattering will exist. This has seriously eased my cautious expectations I previously had about the Keep just taking the bare minimum of choices into account like those "Mass Effect : Prelude" interactive comics did. I'm pretty happy with what we got so far, but a bit scared too. Oh god, what decisions will bite me in the ass? Like, I didn't drank Avernus potion. What if drinking it returns my warden lifespan? So many possiblities....
yea and you can check what has been loaded by clicking on the icon under your avatar when you post, if u have indeed connected with origin before..... soooo nlow ive gotta go check and make sure all the correct stuff has been uploaded.
I don't think I even signed up for an Origin account until last year. I play on the Xbox, so I'll just plan on starting from scratch.

I think we had kind of similar thoughts on what it would be. I'm a little surprised Varric is narrating the Origins timeline instead of Morrigan, but I'm TOTALLY stoked that they made it into a little mini movie with narration, which is what I was hoping for!

I imagine you could just load up Dragon Age Origins, and hit the "sign in to EA account" on the main menu. Put in your current Origin account and it should sync with the information that is already synced to your xbox profile - at least if I'm understanding it right. If you still have the savegames you could probably just load them up again, and save. I know that's how I got my Origins playthrough to show up on the BSN page, even though I never had my xbox connected to the internet when I originally played him. ![]()

That's actually a great idea.
I'll have to see if I still have any or if I deleted them for space. Either way, I'm really glad for everyone that plans on using it that there is at least some method of pulling past playthroughs. That was a welcome surprise.

oh i play on xbox also, there is an option there in each game to sign in using your origin login, so basically an email and password combo.
and because we both seem to be somewhat awesome

So yeah, after watching that I can not contain my excitement. ![]()
I've already been on a huge Dragon Age kick recently, but that just put me over the edge. Think I'm going to go buy the DA novels now, and attempt a new playthrough of Origins (I've never been able to get very far in any of my alternate playthroughs... maybe this time will be different. XD)
And did I hear right? Even if the character is gone from the list on the BSN site, you can still retrieve them? 0o I stupidly deleted my Dwarf Noble playthrough from the site, and ended up losing the file when my harddrive crashed. It's not such a big deal as I think I only got her to Ostagar, but for the life of me I can't remember what she looked like.
The videos have me worried...do we just pick a default warden/hawke with a default name? Or can we edit their name?
What makes me curious...I notice one of the Hawkes in the video used a non-default appearance in the character portrait. So does that mean there will actually be appearance customization? The option never came up that I could see when he was going through the Hero details for the Warden, at least. I know they've said there's not, but they also previously said that the Keep can't import old data, so...
I suppose it's possbile that the Keep/DAI will build an apperance itself based on image in the portrait, or something, but what happens if data gets plugged in from a character whose apperance took advantage of mod-based pieces, then?

Nah, I'm actually a little curious about this myself. I have 2 copies of the game. My canon character is on xbox, so his appearance will be fine. Pretty much all of my alternate characters however are on PC. All of them have appearance mods attached to them.
Well, he did say we can chose one of the Wardens/Hawkes we uploaded to Bioware. He even show us. But if you didn't upload it then my guess is no.The videos have me worried...do we just pick a default warden/hawke with a default name? Or can we edit their name?

You won't be disappointed! Really loved how they set up the game! It was a nice little fix.

I think it's just pulling from the character profile and presenting it. Since they've said pretty adamently there won't be a CC in the Keep I'm still going to assume it's in the game.
If you modded, I don't know. But I imagine there's a CC option even if you import the characters for you to tinker with regardless.
I wouldn't call it an import - it looks like the information needs to have been loaded into origin previously? So it's pulling whatever is stored in Origin?
the weird thing my Origins canon character has no Story, it's like it wont upload from my xbox - even though everything else on every other character still syncs. not sure what to do about that.
So how do I find what characters are uploaded to Origin? I haven't been able to find it on the new forum.
Edit: Nevermind, it seems for some reason I don't have any data for any games, which is weird since I had it for all games on the old forum.
I think you should talk to Bioware about this. I'm sure they will try to help as best as they can. I myself have some problems with some of my characters looks not being visible that I hope wont make trouble in Keep.the weird thing my Origins canon character has no Story, it's like it wont upload from my xbox - even though everything else on every other character still syncs. not sure what to do about that.
Okay, watching that has me excited but I am perplexed on one thing:
Dragon Age: Origins ACCOUNT? What is that? Is this a PC vs. Console difference? Or is this just the equivalent of putting my PSN name/account into the Keep? Because that's what has all my game info/achievements, not a specific DA:O account.
I wonder if that person who kept insisting Gibbed's save editor was better and that this should be as a DLC still thinks all of that?
Although considering their responses to everyone I don't think any amount of info will change their mind.
I do wonder about the total porssible premutation figure though, it seems a bit high?

The synching was always bugged out. If you look at my profile, in example, you'll see it synched all my achievements, but never imported a single one of my characters.
This broken synching is super frustrating, it has been an issue forever, and BW has never been very helpful about it. If you look at the Help forum, there are tons of posts reporting synching bugs for years, and nothing was ever done to help those people, nor fixed on the BSN's side. I do wonder if they'll make a renewed effort at helping those of us with bugged profiles now that the Keep has this function, though, or if we'll be just left tough out of luck forever.
Wait, how do you find your uploaded characters? I have checked around my profile and couldn't find it so I guessed that the feature was deleted in the move. The synching was always bugged out. . . . . . . . this may be a problem, as I forgot my original account and had to create a new one after the boards revamped.
I still don't see though how it had any connection to my games though. It was just an account I created to chat on the boards with. Again, I think I'm missing something here.
