Pick decisions, save state, load up DAI, log in, upload state, play game. That's pretty much all there is to it.

I've heard something about how your old appearance might be imported if you have saves uploaded to origin? Is this right? I'm scanning the thread going back but haven't found anything yet.

No.
What they can do is use the character portraits from those old cloud saves to help you identify your individual Wardens. (And Hawkes? I guess? The PAX videos only showed Wardens that I can recall.) But there's no actual import: you don't have the appearance in a way that will make sense for all systems and be transferable to Frostbite. You just have the portrait image file. (You might remember using the Origins portrait image files to bypass the "no custom avatar" rule on the Old BSN.)
It's not clear whether the save files also transfer plot flags from the games into your new Keep unified world states or if they just provide a starting point for creating the world states. I think it's probably the latter.

I don't think it's possible , as far as I know , the appearance of Hawke/warden you uploaded is just a image files.
It seems it's only to add some customization to the Keep.

It also seems that some people think we are syncing savegame data for your heroes, based on the videos; there's not been any change for that since the most recent FAQ, and we still don't have any direct importing of savegame plot data. You'll have to customize your world state whether your heroes are imported or not, unless you are happy with whatever the default is. What you can do is select which hero is in your world state, vs. the world state for your hero.
That's clearer, thanks. But I suppose those without complete heroes profiles on their BSN accounts will miss the achievements lists. Is that right? What difference does that make?

Just make sure you understand that passing on the Keep means you'll have to play DA:I from BioWare's default world state for DAO and DA2 choices, as there is no other way to import the choices you've made in the previous games.
It's really not that complicated, though: login, check a laundry list of your decisions (check only the big choices if you don't remember the small ones), save your world state, export into DA:I. It can be as easy as you want it to be.

Syncing of achievements and heroes does not need the save on your local machine. Allowing you to change between Xbox 360 / PS3 / PC / PS4 / Xbox One between Dragon Games is one of the major reasons we are doing the Keep the way we are.

I suppose I'm a bit confused about the difference synching my account vs not synching it will have on my Keep experience, if you're at liberty to explain more.

Job for tomorrow: try to convince the BSN to upload my Wardens and Hawkes properly. Some of them never uploaded at all, and others have no story information. (There may not be a fix for that.)
Only I'd probably better decide which five world states I want to make first, which I still haven't managed to do.
I have the exact same problem and several characters that were lost when a pipe burst so I can't upload that information anymore. Thankfully I should be able to rebuild the basic idea around them from what I was seeing with The Keep.
Aaanyway, one thing I can't help but wonder - does the Keep automatically fuse together the savegames related to Origins, Awakening, Golems and Witch Hunt? Because on the BSN each of those get logged as a separate character... 0o
If I remember correctly you import into all those different modules so you would go from Main Game > Awakenings > Witch Hunt > Golems and import the Golems file (I might have the order for the DLCs wrong).

From what I gather from the one uploaded Youtube video is that it will automatically fill in what it can in the tapestry. Now unfortunately there has been many complaints about the sync to the BioWare servers not working properly which I have had numerous times such as loading incorrect information all the way to not uploading any of my information at all.

I don't know if this was asked already, but if we have more than one gaming account, like for example two Gamertags on Xbox, does each Gamertag need its own separate Origin account to access the Keep or can they share it?

I can't speak with any authority, but I think its limited to one tag per platform per account at least from what I have seen within other areas of the website. Now if its just to have the same import with multiple people there is a share option within The Keep.

Ah, thanks guys! I was worried I had to track down my old DA:O saves, but it sounds like I don't have to bother. I remember my specific choices for any particular worldstate I'd like to see.

The question i have is the early days of DAO were buggy when it came to charcters uploading them so i ask this Can i rebuild that world state and warden from pretty much scrap? Also what about DLC i only had a few but i read about most of them and no what choices id make for them are you able to choose choices for DLC you never played? Are they ignored in game? i mean im just curious so i can figure out if i need to replay a wholllllle lota game be4 november ha ha.

I recently watched the stuff about the Keep on Lady Insanity's YT channel...
OH MY GOD IT IS SO AWESOME!!
I don't think I could be any happier with how things have turned out so far. Importing saves definitely saves me the trouble of trying to remember my decisions. The art looks great. And a recap video voiced by Varric?!
I don't care if it's free, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY ANYWAY!!

I think each account will need to be registered on Origin separately, but I'm not positive.

It'd suck if its console locked to one tag or PSN profile, hopefully thats not the case for people who have multiple players of the game.

Probably a stupid question that's already been answered but is there a reason my achievments from DA:O and DA:2 were uploaded buy my characters weren't?

The old BSN and character uploading onto is a bit buggy. So don't worry about it

You need your console to be connected to the internet.

After much prodding and logging out and back in again and performing a nug call and a strange dance, I have convined the BSN to upload all my Wardens and Hawkes! Now it even has that one unfinished DAO play through and that Orlesian Warden I probably won't be able to use at all since I only did the Ultimate Sacrifice twice. (I guess I could pretend that my female elven mage actually finished the game and did it, but I've already got eight world states to begin with.)

Yes, you can rebuild your world state and warden from scratch/scrap through the Tapestry or even by watching the new interactive movie of all of the story. Just think of this, if you weren't able to do so only the people who actually have been able to upload their achievements would be able to use the Keep and nobody else, which would defeat the purpose of the Keep for many. The profile on BSN is also notorious for not having synced up properly. My dwarf noble shows a png of a human mage and my last playthrough of DAO isn't even showing at all.The question i have is the early days of DAO were buggy when it came to charcters uploading them so i ask this Can i rebuild that world state and warden from pretty much scrap? And yes, you can set the choices for every single DLC even if you don't own the DLC.
I wish I could do that. Unfortunately I lost the saves of my favorite playthrough which is partly why I am happy with the Keep so I can't lose anything again for future installments of the DA series. After much prodding and logging out and back in again and performing a nug call and a strange dance, I have convined the BSN to upload all my Wardens and Hawkes! I'm kind of going against the previous responses, but I don't see why multiple Xbox accounts couldn't log into the same origin account, one at a time. The only problem you'd run into is having the world state updated while you play DAI, but if you don't care about that, I don't see why it wouldn't work for importing world states.

I personally have no intention of syncing if I can avoid it. I don't need the Keep to retrieve my Wardens. When I play a character for 25-50 hrs, I remember them vividly. And if I don't remember what decisions they made at certain parts of the story, I have a pretty good guess. My characters could be pretty mercurial sometimes.
Truly, I don't understand the attachment some people have to the direct import of their save files. To me, the Keep is a dream come true. No having to go back and replay old games just to get a different outcome. Now I can play a game in which Leliana was killed at the Temple of Sacred Ashes(hopefully hearing from her about how she survived), without actually have to play that out. This is great!

What did you do? It adds a new character but refuses to update existing ones
