I think this is an excellent idea. Direct imports have their magic, and I'm a bit sad to see them go, but for the many problems the Keep will (hopefully) solve I'm willing to leave them behind.
Regarding the Keep as an online component, I think this is exactly the sort of "added utility" which makes things like (non-permanent) online requirements for single-player games more acceptable, since the multitude of platforms and evolving game engines make it practically impossible any other way.
My concerns at this point are: will we be able to go into enough detail? I'm really obsessive about minor things and have been known to replay half of DAO and the whole of DA2 because I forgot to sleep with Isabela in DAO.

I just read the blog, visited the site and applied for the beta test (those damn legalities took about five teams as long to read as the rest).

I imagine we will be given to choose the options that are imported and actually used in the game, not every little tid bit of info.

I only remember the Nathaniel one and those relating to the Romances, which was patched.

The thing is, Bioware doesn't know in advance which plot flag might be used somewhere. Maybe one day they'll make a DLC - or the next game in the sequence - and say "Wouldn't it be cool if X could react to Y from DAO?" I think it's advantageous to be as comprehensive as feasible. The question is how much is feasible.Parmida wrote...

save file corruption if you play DA2 with all DLC on ps3 and the save file becomes unusable.
so this is a godsend for me.
i just hope for an offline version of the thing.

I'm still a little iffy on this, if because it seems playing the game and retaining your save becomes a little useless - anyone can get whatever they want without having to do anything for it. It's handy, granted, but at the same time it's a little..depressing?
I already use Gibbed DAO save generator for DA2 (and ME2/ME3), because I don't feel like replaying something I already played multiple time (aka 6+ times finished) when I don't bother keeping my saves - I tried for ME3 and failed at it even...I had 6 save from ME2

I had an actual dead Zevran alive in DA II with one of my Origins saves. I don't know why this happenend only in this particular save, but it was really immersion breaking.
So I'm glad they move this sometimes messy system to a cloud-based one. Hopefully this will kill such bugs.
As for the choices: Can we assume that the ones provided will have an impact in DA:I or will be some, especially smaller ones, just there to have them for further games or only for us to imagine them into our world state?
Pretty curious how this system will turn out and thus I applied for the beta test.

I guess so.DarthSliver wrote...
Does the Keep make it pointless to play through the previous Dragon Age titles if all we really want out of them is to create different worlds to see different outcomes in DAI?
I think this is good, though. For instance, I've played through DAO many times, I can't imagine not playing again if I have a really different Warden concept I want to explore, but the Keep will keep me from having to replay specific Wardens just because I forgot to make a minor decision I see as important to the character.
For players like me, who are obsessive about constructing the stories of their protagonists down to every detail, something like the Keep will likely be a priceless tool.

I was going to replay Origins and 2 for Inquisition but now I don't have the desire too...
Can anyone from Bioware let us know if normal save imports are still an option?

So I'll have to connect to the internet every time I want to start a new game?
There's a good chance that that may be the case. Would ultimately depend on how we end up delivering it, things like feedback and so forth.
Ugh. <_<
This irks me a bit too - but if we can create world states that act as a new game save game file, i'm hoping I can load up all my characters in one hit - and no need to access the keep again after that.
While I absolutely ****ing hate the idea of having to connect my game to the internet for my decisions to carry over what really gets to me is the total first-worldness of this decision. Internet is not universal. It is not a basic human right. You actually do get oodles and oodles of people who can afford to buy games but not afford an internet connection. Decisions like this just smack of presumed privelige "Why is this such a big deal? Who doesn't have an internet connection these days?"
Don't preach inclusivity on one hand and exclude people on the other. Selective inclusivty is not a thing.
I was wondering about this. Then I thought, "Well, if they don't have internet, they won't be able to come here and complain!" Yet somehow it magically happens.
Some people don't do everything in life from their PC. I know... it's crazy!
Some people can use their phone for internet, while using an offline console to game. Just as an example.

1) The capacity to set up world states that logically could exist but which you can't actually see in Awakening. All Orlesian Warden games have Alistair as king, Wynne alive and the Anvil of the Void destroyed. There's no reason why that has to be so with the Keep. You should, for example, be able to set up a world state where the Hero of Ferelden put Anora on the throne before performing the Ultimate Sacrifice and being replaced by an Orlesian.
1) The capacity to tell the game that there were two Wardens and both of them are still alive as of the end of Witch Hunt. I don't imagine this will ever actually come up in a game, but the Orlesian Warden version of Awakening leaves it open whether the Hero of Ferelden is dead or has just wandered off.

Do you have to have Origin to apply for the Beta or does your EA-account (ie: the one I'm using right now) suffice?
Your Origin account is the same details as you use to log in here at BSN. You do not need the Origin client installed to sign up.

I believe account you log into the forums is an Origin Account, for they are linked.
My hope for this program when its finished is that
1) Its not required if you are on the same platform, so you can import a 360 save directly into a 360 version of Inquisition.
2) If you download the profile off the internet it will be stored locally until you download a new profile.
3) They get the ability to import from a save to Dragon Age Keep to work and it will be editable (I know they said they are working on it).
