No.

What they can do is use the character portraits from those old cloud saves to help you identify your individual Wardens. (And Hawkes? I guess? The PAX videos only showed Wardens that I can recall.) But there's no actual import: you don't have the appearance in a way that will make sense for all systems and be transferable to Frostbite. You just have the portrait image file. (You might remember using the Origins portrait image files to bypass the "no custom avatar" rule on the Old BSN.)

It's not clear whether the save files also transfer plot flags from the games into your new Keep unified world states or if they just provide a starting point for creating the world states. I think it's probably the latter.

Oh, I was wondering about that. I too assumed that the portraits meant that BW had managed to perform some pretty amazing tech wizardry to make it possible to import Hawkes (and possibly the Warden's) appearance(s) to DA:I.

Which again leaves me wondering how BW can "give us a chance to change [Hawke's] look" (per Mike Laidlaw's tweet) when the Keep apparently doesn't have a character creator (as per that one tweet which I can't seem to find atm, plus I have seen nothing which would suggest otherwise in the video / other information I've seen so far). So... pre-made Hawkes/Wardens to choose from?

But damn, that Tapestry looks gorgeous! And having Varic narate the tales of the Warden and Hawke is just... perfection. Can't wait to try this out!

EDIT And once again reading the FAQ before posting would've been smart... so, re-creating my Hawke's ingame in DA:I? Yes, double yes and thank you! I will gladly take this over default!Hawke and premade!Hawke, despite the extra work!

We can be given the chance to change the appearance of our previous characters in DAI itself.

I don't know if this was asked already, but if we have more than one gaming account, like for example two Gamertags on Xbox, does each Gamertag need its own separate Origin account to access the Keep or can they share it?

Not unless you want them to have different accounts.  You can change the Origins account that DAO and DA2 are connected to, and there's no limit to the amount of times you can attach a single Origins account to different gamertags, as far as I know.

The only issue would be how confused you get when checking in on those decisions on BSN or the Keep, because Origins really won't differentiate which gamertag did what(because it only cares about the Origin account logged into the game at that time).  If you, personally, are using both gamertags then it's a personal preference.  But if it is you and a friend/family member, I would suggest that you have the other person create their own Origins account, mostly to minimize confusion.  Especially if you're both wanting to import the same world state(since the video says you can "share your world state" and allow friends to use the one you created)...

I think the Keep's real issue is the touchscreen friendly interface, my head starts spinning when i look at all that clutter

Here's a question I wish I had thought of in time for the Q&A: I have 4 profiles for DAO. I think 2 for DA2 but I'd have to doublecheck that. Anyway, back to DAO - 2 are from the PS3 and 2 are from the PC. Will all 4 be brought into the Keep? They all show up under the same Bioware/Origin account (I've only had one).

Even if the stories for each of my Wardens/Hawkes is not exactly correct I love the idea that at least the Keep will initially populate a world-state with that information and I can make corrections. Kudos, Bioware. I know this wasn't done because I suggested it a little while ago, you had to have been planning this for some time but I will pat myself on the back for thinking like great minds  :)

I know which stories I want to import (why can't I see the stories for my Hawkes?) so now I need to make sure they are all on the old forum. I think I have all my old saves . . .

It also seems that some people think we are syncing savegame data for your heroes, based on the videos; there's not been any change for that since the most recent FAQ, and we still don't have any direct importing of savegame plot data.  You'll have to customize your world state whether your heroes are imported or not, unless you are happy with whatever the default is.  What you can do is select which hero is in your world state, vs. the world state for your hero.

The more I re-read this, the more I think this needs to be clarified in font size 48, red, bold, and maybe some police siren spinning gifs to call attention to it.

So there is no importing of save world states at all, no matter if you have BSN-synched characters or not? The only thing the Keep pulls from synched characters is their name, basic stats and portrait as a starting point, but you still have to go through all the choices and rebuild your world state just like everyone else? It will not populate the Keep with choices from the game, you will still be coming through with a blank slate world and starting from scratch? Because the video was a bit ambiguous about this, and now people are scrambling to synch characters thinking they don't need to worry about rebuilding world states because the Keep will be pulling the whole save game data along with those characters' basic profiles.

There's a lot of misinformation going around now about savefile importing loopholes, it'd be great if we could have some definite clear answer on this.

I love what I see of the Keep, but I'm really curious about how our Warden and Hawke will look.  Will we be able to customize their faces?  Or will it be a couple face choices per gender/class combo?  I admit I haven't been following this too closely (unusual for me with a Bioware game), because I don't want a ton of spoilers this time around, but this point worries me.  I didn't upload much to BSN, so I'm kind of worried that I'll end up with Cardboard Hawke and Cardboard Warden.

EDIT:  So the FAQ says no changing the characters... but there was a Tweet that said we can change the characters look?  So it's a choice between Cardboard Hawks and Cardboard Wardens.  I think that's a fail, cause it's going to roll my eyes when I see a character that looks nothing like my Hawke or Warden showing up and pretend to be my Hawke or Warden.  Obviously, not a game killer, I'm confident I'll still like the game, but I wish they would have skipped bringing the old characters back.

This is how I am understanding it as well . For instance if you have a Warden then you can upload that character profile so the Keep has the basics then you create the world from there. If you don't you simply have to make a Warden from scratch ie. gender/origin/race ect.

This is generally correct.  having your gamertags linked and characters showing on the BSN will help if you want to be able to select "your" hero, including their class and portrait, as well as being able to see all of the achievements and other unlocks you have earned.  Whether your hero exists in the Keep or not does not directly affect how your world state is populated - that is all done by choices you make in the Keep, starting on first login.

Thanks for dropping in, Brian. I think people will still be taking this to mean the character profiles will automatically "populate" the Keep with their choices, but it's good to have something to reference to when trying to clear this up.

You wouldn't know if there's anything BW can or would do to fix the synching issues with the BSN we've been having for years, would you? There are so many people still out in the cold about this, with profiles that stopped synching years ago or won't even synch at all (just look at all the threads about this posted yesterday), and nothing's ever really been done to help us on this front.

I really think Bioware should allow us to upload save files, since a lot of people, me included, can't get their characters to sync for ****. It can't be that hard.

I imagine it's quite difficult otherwise they would likely do it as I can't imagine creating a whole entire system if it weren't easier.

I can't see reading character level, class and other easily accessible info (since world state won't be imported) in a savegame file system they created being hard. There are probably save editors out there that can do just that.
