I got a simple question. It might have been answered already but it might just be lost in this thread somewhere.

Lets say I follow through this DA Keep feature on the Xbone right? so I was wondering once I made my world and apply all the choices I made previously in DA:O and DA2 on the Xbox 360, would I still be required to stay online when going through my playthrough for DA:I afterwards? OR is it only required when editing your DA Keep?
Because I always play offline when playing single player games.

save file corruption if you play DA2 with all DLC on ps3 and the save file becomes unusable.
so this is a godsend for me.
i just hope for an offline version of the thing.

Really? That never happened to any of my files :o

Did you play Mark of the Assassin on PS3, then try and play any of the rest of the game with the same Hawke?

From what I understand right now you might need to be connected to the internet while creating your character, but you won't be required to stay connected while you play the game.

Yeah that was what I was anticipating and hopefully it will be officially confirmed if it is so or not. I don't mind going online if it's required to create but maybe not when doing the actual playthough. More of a gaming habit I have.

Read through the developer posts in this thread. Click the blue Bioware tag under the thread's name in the forum and you'll see every response a developer has posted here.

Speaking of, I think the current plan is that you have to be online to create the checklist/decisions but afterward can use the set list for offline play.

Doesn't affect me since I'm always online anyway, but if it affects you, I think you've got nothing to worry about. :)

But check the dev posts to make sure I'm not talking out of my arse.

I just hope this thing is really thorough when it comes to options and not ignoring entire parts of the story like the genesis comic did.
I also hope that they wont ignore sidequests and the dlcs though at least those should be in I guess

Well, if you consider us hypocrites I encourage you to respond in manner you feel is appropriate.

I thought I just did. =]

If you can reconcile this in your head, if cognitive dissonance isn't all that much of an issue for you then fine. I have learned in all my 20 years that if someone does not want to acknowledge something they won't. Especially if the acnowledgement has the potential to make them uncomfortable.

Just don't expect me to stop mentioning it.

The 20 years bit tells all.

I think the Keep is a good idea. My only concern is the one Fast Jimmy raised earlier - it creates a shelf life for replaying the game. That said, if I still want to play the game 5-10 years down the road that means it was a pretty awesome game and that save imports will probably be a minor concern. Lets worry about the present first, and this sounds like a good solution for all platforms.

I've only played 4 characters throuigh all the dlc and nothing happened and 3 that was a piece of crap.  I saved the files before starting MOtA.  My last run I didn't open any of the goodies you get.  I didn't have any problems, plus, I didn't take my sibling.  So, no idea.

Several, I have completed MotA in all acts and at the end of the game, I have never been unable to load any saves.

Hmmm. I've got nothing for you then. It's was a widely reported issue that, last I heard, was never patched.

I hope the Keep is written as some kind of narrative or story. Like an oral history reliving Dragon Age. Having only questions and answers would be boring

I love this idea. I just hope it works better then the save importing.

@clone wars: It should be still open. I don't think they are going to start picking testers until next year.

It would be neat, but keep in mind (no pun intended) that once you've read through one once, you won't want to do it again in your next imports. Plus, it would be boring to read a ton of text that will obviously be put together awkwardly considering all the variables.

So, in theory, it sounds awesome; but in practise: predictable and quick to bore.

I'm as rabidly anti-DRM as we forumites come, and I simply won't touch a game with an always online, or regularly online drm requirement. Heck, I refuse to allow Origin on my pc becuase their eula and tos give them permission to rifle through my hardrive and application usage history and I have work files on there that I cannot allow potential spyware to access.

But this is one case where I have very little ethical issue with Bioware using an online tool. My major concern is game shelflife when the servers for keep get turned off. But much depends on exactly how Bioware implement this. I signed up for the beta to hopefully provide useful feedback for that reason.

For example, if the keep allows you to download a world state file and manually transfer it to your offline console then there's an end to both my shelf life and offline console issues. That doesn't mean Bioware can't also provide an online sign-in and manage your world state files directly through the Game UI while the keep is still online and functioning to eliminate the inconvenience of manually transferring files for online gamers. But if they provide a mechanism for offline comsoles to import a manually tramsferred file without having to directly connect to the keeps servers then they won't even have to patch the game when the keep gets turned off. Gamers like us will likely hoard their world state files and if the keep disappears I have no doubt that someplace like DA nexus will give is an ability to share those world state files with the world.

even if you travel a lot, you do not need to access the keep in order to play throu an already started game. And you can always start a new game using the default canon. Personally i think bioware ought to give us a selection of canons that reflect only a few of the major choices rather than just one. But as long as the keep can provide offline file tramsfer abilities then you could use previously created world state files even on the road and withut internet access.
