Believe it or not, but I also think that it's a good thing. And that's what I actually keep saying. DA2 was good at that, as much as DAA was related to the story - I only bought it after my 1st DA2 pt was finished. It adds details, but DA2 was sufficient on its own. Still, the ONLY way to see DAA effects on pt was importing from DAA (unless you hack saves).I think it's a good thing that player who haven't played old games , in theory , will have access to everything DAI has to offer.
It's logical to assume same for DAI - they will make a good game, that can be played as a stand-alone game, they will give people some presets to pick from, picking from generic presets does not spoil things (much). Overall gaming experience is not affected.
But the Keep? If new player needs to read out the story and understand game context from some external sources - it would mean that writers did not do the job (*glances at ME3 with it's Anderson's, trial, Arrival and Liara gaps*). I believe our beloved writing team can pull this off, without using external media.
Uhm...that was supposed to make those who were able to play games and buy content guilty, no? It did not work, I'm afraid. So like I said it's not always about not wanting to. Its a matter of being able to.
If someone has a device that is capable of running DAI and money to buy that very DAI - it's hard to invent excuses for not playing previous content first. Other than 'But I want it naow!', I mean...
