I think this was probably the simple solution based on the series going across game generations. Don't have a problem with it at all, especially given the import issues that both DA and ME have had in the past.

I have never been in any betatesting before so I'm wondering about the open beta. Does everyone have to give feedback and if we do how much? I'm not certain if I can give proper relevant feedback so should I wait until the official Keep lauch?

Yeah, it would be nice to have the exact time. The 29th of October happens to be a holiday where I live. I don't have to go to work, and I'm gonna drive myself crazy checking the keep every ten minutes.

I'm kind of thinking I should just sit back and wait, going on it late tomorrow or the day after, because the immediate demand when it opens will cause it to be sluggish and unresponsive.
However, the point of the beta is to stress test it, so really I'd be doing Bioware a SERVICE by sitting by my computer pressing F5 all day until it launches. It's not for me, it's for you!

Then it would be nice if BioWare would at least own up to the fact that we're not playing DA:I with a world based on the decisions we've made before, but rather a world based on an imperfect facsimile of the decisions we've made before. They make a big deal about the choices you make influencing the game world, but I'm not seeing evidence of that with how this has all been explained to work. The moment I can't remember something I did or didn't do and miss tripping the appropriate flag in Keep, that's not my game world anymore.
Okay, so then would you prefer them to upload your save where you romanced Morrigan, but when you imported it into Awakening, the romance flag was broken? SO, you did NOT romance her. Then import that into Witch Hunt and "Let me go with you Morrigan" "NO" WAIt we are in love, right? NO you aren't in love with her, she broke up with you due to a bug.
There were BUGS GALORE with the save files and even the game itself (I can't give specifics, as I am still under the NDA, but I will tell you that one of the most notoriously bugged quests that was impossible to complete favorably without a player created mod is in the Keep)... So the Keep allows you to create saves how YOU WANT as intended by the story, not beholden to bugs. Plus, there is a LOT of decisions in the Keep that I NEVER even knew the quest existed... and I bought Origins the Black Friday after it came out at Best Buy they had a bunch of brand new games half-off.
Plus, the Keep is also a look to the future. Now, all decisions will be saved in the Keep where you will be able to change them if/when Dragon Age 4 comes out. Yes, I completely agree it's an annoyance of sorts to have to take a bit of time to set up your ideal world, but it's for the best.
Also, even more so say you modded your Dragon Age Origins so you could romance Morrigan as a female? That's not something Bioware intended, so if they were to import that save to DAI, what would happen? Would the game correct it? Would the game CRASH (most likely actually) With things like that, they can't anticipate what you could have done to your saves beyond even their own bugs, so this is best overall for the future of the franchise.

To clarify, your question is this: Will the world states you create in the Keep during the open beta be deleted when the Keep is officially released?
The answer is no. Or, at least, that's the answer from the latest Keep Q&A Twitch stream. It may change, but they try to be consistent in not saying things unless it's accurate.
here is fernando's answer to your question
Ah good. Praise BioWare with great praise...and respect. ![]()

Cool your heals it is another 3.5 hours till it is the 29th in mountain time zone. Then the Keep team will have to wake up. So I'd say ten hours minimum, probably longer.

My guess as to actual "Go-Live" for the public beta of the Keep?
Noon (MDT), in Edmonton, AB, CA, (UTC-6).
Which would be 15 hours, 10 minutes from now.

I confess to some confusion with importing. Based on http://forum.bioware...ge-keep-faqs/,
Unfortunately we won’t be able to directly import saves. However, over 300 choices are accounted for in the Keep, so you’ll be able to recreate your Dragon Age universe down to the details
This suggests that all we are importing are the race, class, image, and maybe a few other details and nothing else? We'll have to recreate the rest of the universe by hand? I got the impression from DA:O hero selection that it would import more when details about who romanced whom and who killed the dragon were shown.
Is this correct?
Won't that mean there will be a lot more activity on the site when DA:I goes live as so many people will have to be on for much, much longer to build up their world states?

@FineRedMist:
Name, Gender, Class, Origin Story, and (2D) "Portrait"... That's all that will be fed into the Keep as the Starting Point for your World-State.
This has been discussed several times across all the social media channels.
You will be able to tailor the resulting "default" world-state to match your own choices, or the choices you wished you'd made, or the choices you'd never dared to make, or the choices you never knew existed!
You don't need to have played the previous games, or the previous DLC, to have all the choices presented. You will be able to craft a world-state based on EXACTLY what decisions you made in the prior games, or leave it to BioWare to generate the state of the decisions you don't care to make.
It's all good.
