I hope we can upload finished saves...I'm going to be real annoyed if I find out I have to click and click and click for a run I just finished over seventy hours completing...

Pdusen's response above is pretty much it. You will only need an Internet connection to pull the save data from the cloud at character creation. It's a one-time connection kind of thing. After that, you should be able to play without ever connecting again (unless you want to create a second import setting for another playthrough).Demeira wrote...
The fact that no one from BioWare has brought up offline imports makes me very leery of following this series further. Did they even think about how the Keep would negatively impact those of us without reliable internet?
Well, my situation is that I cannot afford to hook my PS3 up to the internet, and because of the Keep being online only, I can't play Inquisition with imported data. The only way I could would be if I could directly import my save data.

Another solution would be for BioWare to document the Keep's file format, and then let you use a USB key to get the data into your console (or PC).Demeira wrote...

That should work.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but last time I played my PS3 I was allowed to hook up to my pre-existing wi-fi free of charge. Sony products don't make you pay for online services. However, like it's been said time and time again, it's likely you can import the data onto a USB drive and connect it manually. That said, you could go to your local library if you yourself or a friend or family member does not have internet access. (However, you're online right now, so I assume you have some access to the internet)

I hope the game it self allows you to import save files with out usage of the Cloud (When it is on the same console obviously) but that said it is neat.
It just doesn't appeal to me given that i already spent seventy plus hours crafting the DA world as stands now.
Why would i use a feature offering to do the same with out anything the satisifaction of actually doing it?
This. All my saves are on PC. I have no need for this Keep nonsense.
I have a gut feeling that we will need to use the keep regardless.
Well that is sort of unfair to offline players such as myself.
I would assume i would need to be online to access the Cloud.
I don't see why pulling save files from a memory unit is so difficult when it worked just fine in Awakening and Two.
Really? I wonder if you could say that if you had 3gb limit per month like I do.

Depends. I figure that if you're on that heavy of a limit- you're not overextending your internet usage and use everybit wisely. I don't think having a game connect and grab a, I'm assuming, a couple of MB each time to start a game that lasts about 1-2 weeks (or a few days) would interfer that much. It will suck if you were to go over your limit that month but it's not like Simcity. I would understand if you had problems with a every day online for a game that should be single player, but a quick check for saveworld info? I don't see that as a problem.PnXMarcin1PL wrote...

Edit: Now those that cannot access the internet for floods or any reason similar to that, this is a problem for. People who have very basic access to internet? Not that big. It's not the evil always online that is truly a pain for such things.

Im still a little *grrrrr* about my save files but honestly, Dragon Age is suppose to be about the world, this was made clear YEARS ago lol. And the Keep will allow World Choices to be added, so thats covered.
So the illusion of me thinking that the option I picked to say what ever to which NPC during some odd playthrew actually mattered in the grand scheme of things, has been blown apart, So what
Bring on the Keep I gots a TON of Work to do lol.

the keep..is just the keep. for people who wish to start new, or who might have lost there data or are hoping into a new platform or so on. .if you still have all your data from pc or ps3, then you can still transfer all that into DA:I, if you are still staying in that same platform.
the keep will be hopeful if let's say you hop into ps4, =D .

Being able to build our world-states from scratch might be more time consuming than a direct import, but you have to realise that a lot of those imports are buggy to begin with. The saves themselves aren't bad, but it was possible to rack up quite a few bad flags so that eg. Leliana thinks she romanced the Warden, Zevran thinks he never did, and both Fenris and Anders went to live happily ever after with Hawke.
A clean build is a good thing in the long run.

From what I've read, it sounds like you can import your saves into the Keep, and then from the Keep into DAI. You can't import the saves directly from the old game in DAI, making the Keep sort of like a middle man.
So if you want to preserve your old world state, you must use the Keep to transfer it across.

They are not all useless. Bioware did talk looking into the ability to import saves into the keep to "speed up the process". So this means all that work you did will be for not, as it will make your life easier. All you're doing is double checking things to make sure they are all correct if this feature gets implemented.Flurdt07 wrote...

I was happy about the keep cause i can replan some ps3 version..since i dont have da:o for ps3 anymore.. but i was ok with my da2 ps3 stuff.. any how i see..
i guess they will also have a keep download on the psn and xbox live. for the non pc users? i just dont understand why do i have to send my old data their first.. lol but ok =D

I don't have wifi, and the internet service provider I have would charge me an additional $35-50 a month ON TOP of the nearly $100 a month I already pay. That extra money I can't afford. I can't afford to go through my cell phone provider, and I even if I could my signal strength would be next to nothing. As for my bandwidth usage, it takes nearly 1G to operate two tabs on Firefox.

I mean, it probably isn't compatible, but it would be fairly cool if we could create world states for DA2 as well. Especially since the Keep is going to be available before Inquisition is.

Strictly speaking, BW haven't explicitly stated that that this won't be possible, but at this point there's no way they're going to patch Keep importing into DA2. So... no.DarkSpiral wrote...
