WAIT... I just thought of a problem.

Warden/Hawke appearances. Not if they appear, but how they look.

Would the Keep let us redesign our Wardens and Hawkes, if for no other reason then peace of mind (though of course, zots). Chances are slim either of them would appear, but if they did I'd hate to see "Default Dwarven Warden" in place of my own carefully crafted god of a Dwarf.

Well, seeing as this site can save the appearance of your grey warden, I get the impression that they could draw from whatever code they use to store that information if they really need to.  :)

This site stores a flat image of your warden's profile picture and inventory screen... a lot more would be needed for an in-game appearance!

The save files which include flags determining your choices within the game also include flags setting your characters appearance. Thus - if the Dragon Age Keep - includes a previous character appearance function it is "only" a matter of importing those flags (the file even includes skill specs and inventory).

The problem would not be for the Keep to gather your previous look, it would be to recreate an acceptable look based on those settings in a totally new graphics engine. Most likely you will never be satisfied with the result, which is why it's better if neither the Warden nor Hawke make an appearance.

For the sake of completeness.

There were some tweets about the Keep:

Do we know what the Keep is? Before, I thought it was just a website where you select different options.. but now it seems like something more complex. An interactive comic? Or a browser based game that lets you play through the past ones in a quick, time hopping, manner?

Also, this has probably been answered already, but will it be available only when the game releases? Or do we get to play with/use it a bit of time before?

As far as I know, it will be available a few months before release of the game. How complex it will be, and how you will pick the options isn't clear yet.

Ah, that's good to hear! I was hoping it would be beforehand. If it were released at the same time as DAI, I can safely say I probably won't be able to start the game for a whole day or two just playing with options and making a character haha

Sounds mostly promising... though the 32000 something people being too many... that does cause me concern. Does that mean too many for the beta? Too many in general? :crying:

They just mean that 32k people is too many for the beta. They want to start with smaller numbers and then branch out to more. lol

Geez louise!  I was going to ask if anyone knew when they were going to select the beta testers, but with over 32,000 entries to wade through, I probably shouldn't hold my breath.  Frankly, if I were them, I'd take, say, 100 random entries from the 32,000 and then hand pick the beta group from that.  Heaven forbid they add another six months of development time in order to just go through all of the entries.  Posted Image

I really do hope they allow just a basic file import in the complete game; That would relieve me greatly.

You know you play too much Dragon Age when you dream about it, lol. Well, I had a dream the other night that when the Keep was released it had a character editor, not as a demo character creator for the Inquisitor, but for the Warden and Hawke. And the Warden one even let you pick a voice (it seemed to be the same "voice" as in actor but with the pitch being higher or lower with some of them). It was so they could import the characters into Inquisition for their cameos or whatnot. I was wondering if something like that would even be possible, given the fact that the Keep is web based. Is it something that *could* be done. It was just a dream, but it got me thinking, how possible is it? Is it something they might aim for later? After all sooner or later they'll have to do something to address the Warden and Hawke in person I would think.

Bless you  What a cute dream... I also have gaming dreams, including Dragon Age. I guess it's important to let the devs know how much we care about their wonderful creations. ^_^ I also agree that this is something I'd support (what you dreamed about).

Ah, that makes sense. I guess I won't get to participate in the beta then... Oh well, For now, I have my Organic Chemistry and Physics to keep me busy... along with my Assassin's Creed Fanfiction and Pokemon X and Y. But if I still am one of the lucky people picked, I will thank my stars.

I am curious since it looks like what they might be looking at is a plot branch. I wonder how complex they will be? :wizard:

Well 32000 isn't that much. Just take the 31999 who aren't me and smash their computers to pieces.

LOL!  Your being goal-focused isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I'm pretty sure 31,999 polite "No's" would suffice.

Hehe, as much as I would like to be chosen as a beta tester, I'm almost affraid of it, as I would most likely spend way too much time playing around with the choices and relating it to all my different playthroughs. Negative side effect of having spend way too much time manually changing save file imports in DA2 I guess :-)

Does anyone know if the keep'll be laid out in a liniar fashion? Only I have several playthrough's that are very specific to who was recruited at the time, or what order things were done in.

We don't have any information on that yet. I think it's unlikely that you'll be able to specify the specific
party members that were present during plot events (except where it's specifically relevant), or the order of events where that ordering doesn't explicitly have an effect on the plot.

^ I am also one of the people who registered for Beta as well. Not sure if they will pick me. Would be great if they did, if not well... I have plenty of things to do in the meantime.
