Master Warder Z wrote...

I really do hope they allow just a basic file import in the complete game; That would relieve me greatly.

I wish they would, but judging by the comments they've made in this thread, there's not much chance of that. ): It seems the only hope would be if we're able to set up our world states on an online PC, save it to a USB drive, and transfer that to an offline console... but that's just an idea, and has not been confirmed to be possible.

If anyone from BioWare happens to be reading this, an answer would be helpful.

Unfortunately, with the default setting being what it is, that's not really a good choice for me. I can't even pretend that the default is one of my world states when their Warden sacrifices herself and mine survive. The only way around that would be to imagine that this world is based around my Orlesian Wardens, which still doesn't solve the problem of not being able to see the results of my DAO choices (for example, those with Morrigan and the dark ritual). I'm not sure I would even want the game if that much content is unavailable to me.

What I wouldn't mind seeing is a Book on a shelf somewhere with my Warden's tale showing his/her picture and accomplishments as chronicled by some Bard and another book detailing the heroic adventures of Hawke that my DA:I hero can pickup an read getting a better understanding of events all from my cloud saves from previous play through without my Hawke or Warden actually making physical appearances.

A fair amount of people on this thread have been speculating on whether or not there is going to be a way to use the Keep offline, but this wouldn't be the first online requirement that Bioware have done.

ME2 PS3 - an internet connection was required to set up a previous story for Shepard, otherwise, no Cerberus pack, which included the Genesis comic, also this came at quite the cost for those, like my friend, that borrowed a copy of the game.

ME3 - the multiplayer was directly tied into the single player campaign in order to affect the ending.

With these two things in mind it isn't hard to imagine that the Keep will be online only, I know that it's unfair to those that keep their consoles offline for one reason or another, but this isn't something that surprises me.
I can only hope that for those that are offline a solution will be found.

Right now we're hoping you will only need the internet to do the Keep and not after that, and crossing our fingers and hoping we can do a direct import like DAO into DA2.  But I just don't know yet, and we probably won't until at least the beta.

What's this....someone said 'only spend a couple of hours in the keep'?

I expect to spend DAYS!

Hours are for mere mortals.

With those of us on computers who don't own any console's what so ever I don't see why we can't just do direct imports from our current save files or did I miss something.

My DA:O play throughs are usually around 44 to 50 hours spent in a game.

DA2 I spend between 45 to 52 hours playing.

Can't imagine what your gonna do in the dragon keep.

How true is that...  I like to move in and make myself at homePosted Image

Seeing that it takes me forever to create a character that I am satisfied with, I am sure that I will be "browsing" the keeps features every "knook and cranny" until I am blue in the face.

It might take an hour or so for my first and canon playthrough, but I will no doubt have mental breakdowns and other time consuming problems when it comes to making Thedas just right for my qunari, my dwarf and my human. Definitely keeping Petrice alive for my Qunquisitor, and leaving Morrigan as angry and as stabbed as possible, you know. For the contrasties!

On the one hand, yes I agree with you. Especially if you want to create new world states.

But on the other hand I just hope you can import your DA:O savegame into the keep and don't need to make any adjustments at all.
My first playthrough will be four years old when the keep goes live. So I don't even remember all the details of my first wardens journey. Still, I want my import to be true to what I did back then. I can't imagine I could recreate all that happend from memory. I would have to load up several savegames or use a savegame editor, or whatever. That would be tedious work. I wouldn't want to spend hours doing that.

I think I had remembered reading what they were hoping was that you could upload a savefile into the Keep and then tweak it from there....in order to verify plot flags.

'Cause the playthrough where my dead Warden went and did Witch Hunt and Golemns and was then able to be uploaded into Awakenings (US Wardens weren't supposed to be able to be uploaded to Awakenings)....and THEN uploaded THAT savefile into DA:2.....people in Kirkwall were pretty confused if my Warden was dead or alive.

My DA:O / DA:A save files were corrupted recently and I lost my DA2 saves; nearly 80+ hours of progress all lost. The same happened with my Walking Dead saves before I purchased a new computer.

I must, the Keep is one of the best additions to a Bioware game I have ever seen. As much as I love DA:O and DA2 alike, I don't feel like repeating 80 hours of the exact same decisions to get to the exact same point once more.

I have all my current saves from DA:O and DA2 all on my USB Flash Drive as well as The Witcher 1 & 2 saves and Mass Effect 1 & 2 and not 3. Mainly because DA:O for some reason keeps getting this crash bug if it sits on my computer to long.

That's nothing, I spent 2 hours in the Gallows at the beginning of DA:2.

When allowing an import of the warden or hawke, we fans should be able to at least get the whole choose potrait in the beginning so that we can costumize the their faces so that it will suit us. rather have an import and the game wil decide how the character looks like.

Come on guys isn't the reason the keep is a online thing because Bioware is using a completely different engine. Which for all we know handles plot point and game state differently. I imagine it is going to be way more work to make the Frostbyte engine to import game data from savefile than make a custom savefile that is compatible with the new engine.
Also because for the people who will switch platform PS3 to PS4 or from Xbox 360 to Xbox One
or PC to Console or Console to PC, that is a lot of different variable and system to make save file import to work, If it saves Bioware some time so they can make more content for Inquisition its not much of a problem at all.

that's one reason.

The other reason is probably because there hasn't been a Dragon Age game that doesn't have a thousand import related bugs.

I'm confused about something I watched on youtube earlier. They were talking about choice in the game and the interviewer mentioned something about saving the keep or the village. Does this mean if we choose to save the village or whatever we don't get a keep at all or does it mean we have to wait a bit longer to receive it?.

Something that just crossed my mind - since it was stated that the DA Keep will be designed for cross-console porting, even allowing for Console to PC, could there be a possibility of using the Keep to transfer save game states from DAO or DA2, and allow you to play them on PC if you have the PC copies of DAO or DA2 as well?

That's something I've kind of wanted to do for a while, now - I've always loved my first DAO playthrough on xbox, and since I own the PC version as well, I've attempted several times to recreate my character with varying degrees of success. Would be cool to be able to load up my xbox character on my PC, and play through some modded questlines with him. :)

Wrong thread dude. DA Keep will be a save editor for importing decisions from previous games into Inquisition.
