Something that just crossed my mind - since it was stated that the DA Keep will be designed for cross-console porting, even allowing for Console to PC, could there be a possibility of using the Keep to transfer save game states from DAO or DA2, and allow you to play them on PC if you have the PC copies of DAO or DA2 as well?

That's something I've kind of wanted to do for a while, now - I've always loved my first DAO playthrough on xbox, and since I own the PC version as well, I've attempted several times to recreate my character with varying degrees of success. Would be cool to be able to load up my xbox character on my PC, and play through some modded questlines with him. :)

Bioware talked about it a bit more in PAX, According to them if you really try you can save them both, which I love,
I really would love to have a perfect ending ( I know how it sounds) and a very Ruthless ending ( Everybody is forced to fall in line or die resisting):wizard:

I'm still trying to work out whether I should use my "main" save choices or change them in order to get more content. I didn't take the Dark Ritual and Alistair sacrificed himself to save Ferelden, and while the OGB made no appearance in DA2 and Alistair only had a couple of neat cameos, it seems like both could have bigger impacts on DA:I (Alistair having a role is based purely on the fact Ferelden seems to be featuring).

I'm not sure I follow.  I was talking about transfering my savegame from the xbox, to the PC, using the DA Keep - and wondering if that were possible.  :)

He probably quoted the wrong person.

Transferring data between platforms is probably something the Keep can't do.

Well, apparently what it's designed to do is take data from one platform and use it to generate a world state that can then be imported to another platform.

So I have a question: I have save files for Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II for the Xbox 360. Say I bought a PS4 or Xbox One, and wanted to import my saves from my Xbox 360 into Inquisition. Could I use the Keep to import my saves from Xbox 360 to the PS4 if I'm signed into my Bioware Account while playing?

You'd need to upload your 360 saves to The Keep, set them up correctly on a PC, then go to your PS4 and pull them from online. You'd need internet connections on all three of those devices (360, PC and PS4) for this to work.

Yes, but you need a PC as an intermediary to set up your saves. From what we know so far, The Keep can't look at the Saves on your old console and automatically transfer them to your new one. You have to upload your import files to The Keep, modify/approve them on the PC, select your desired file format (in the case I just mentioned, the PS4), and then use your PS4 to access The Keep to import your file.

I know, though I just now realized I think I misinterpreted the person I originally quoted.

Really? That's awesome! So Bioware has confirmed that you can upload your saves to the Keep?

Not really, no. They said they're "investigating" the possibility. But I very much hope they make it possible. If they don't, you would have to set up every world state manually. For some people this might be fun, but I would prefer I could just upload and not bother further.

As for the need for a PC, I don't think it is really necessary. Since the Keep is meant to run in a web browser, it should in theory run on a console browser as well. Wether this would be fun to use is another matter, of course. :)

EDIT: Embarrassing typo

This keep thing sounds great, I really do hope I can use it cross platform as I was going to go to PC..

I saved up for a few months until I had well over a grand spare cash from overtime, designed my custom rig online..and just before I put the order in I ended up buying a house instead and using it for the deposit..

I get my keys today, but it will be a while before I leave my console peasantry yet as I have loads of things I want to buy for the new house. I'm buying myself a PS4 next month to make up for it, so it would be great if the DA Keep lets me use my decisions from my Xbox 360 Dragon Age games.

Will the keep let you customize dlc decisions?

The way it sounds in my opinion is that when we upload our saves from our platforms we will be able to fill in some of the inconsistency's and more like flesh out the story from past games especially DA2 story in the imports. We also maybe able to modify our current story to some degree before we import to DAI on whichever platform we decide to send it. Especially be a reasonable goal to be able to create and modify current saves through DA2 without having to replay it as so many people seem to hate that version. I actually don't mind replaying both games to get a sense of state of mind, but could see the attractive nature to modifying my saves in the Keep without replaying both games to be able to jump into DAI.

It's not confirmed that you'll be able to import save games into the Keep, but otherwise yes, that's the idea - you enter all your world choices into the Keep, and then import the resulting "world state" into DAI.

I hope we can. Aside from the known gliches and bugs, I tend to be happy with my world-states and don't fee the need to recreate them choice by choice when I already spend seventy hours or so playing them.

Although I fully intend to play around with worldsates I didn't get a chance to make before DAI comes out. ^_^

I think I read a dev post saying it would allow you to do that US Warden + Warden Commander world state without zombie Warden popping up.  So that's good.

I was wondering earlier, with the Keep being an online thing rather than disc based, does that mean you could technically import an Xbox 360 playthrough into the Keep, and then use it as the 'world state' for a PC (or PS4) version of DAI?

It would be quite nice to upgrade for DAI, but not to an Xbox One.

Cross platform world states is evidently the design motivation for the Keep in the first place.
