I hooe there is a way to save import states so if I wanna play DAI in twenty years on a Win7 virtual box I don't need to rely on their servers. I still play Quest For Glory, so it is a possible scenario.
It'd be nice to have a function that allows you to download an import state file from the Keep to your computer. If you lose the subsequent file, that would be a problem, but it would at least allow our import states to exist in some form other than DA Keep's servers. And then if folks wanted to start a new game, and already had the import state on their computers, they wouldn't need to hop back online whenever they wanted to start a new game.

This is actually a pretty cool idea. For someone like me that has played through Origins 10 or 12 times you can just tinker directly with the variables without having to blast through another 10 hour playthrough just to make that one little change.
You finished DAO in 10 hours? How did you do that? Time travel?
Could be a typo?
Or maybe it took 10 hours to get to that decision, and not beat the game.

So far, it hasn't been confirmed if creating world states with the Keep on a PC and transferring them to an offline console with a USB drive will be possible. But what about transferring them from an online console to our own offline consoles? There's a place where I can use online consoles (which is how I got my copy of ME3 registered) for a short time and a small fee, so my idea is this - set up the world states on the online console, start the game using that data and save it to a USB drive, then take that save file back to my offline console at home and play the game as usual with the world state already set. Would something like this work, or would it just cause an error because world states are tied to specific accounts or some other reason?

This is a great solution. Most of my save files for DAO & DA2 were lost when I changed computer..So this is a godsend....

No. I have all my saves backed up. I'd just like to warn you, though, that you should have multiple back-ups of anything that is really important to you. Some years back, my laptop HDD and my backup HDD failed at the same time. It was excruciating.Ieldra2 wrote...

Those saves you have backed up aren't even worth much too, as they're probably bugged somewhere. Any saves going through DAO-DAA-DA2 inevitably have corrupt/missing information in some form from importing errors that were never fixed: DA2 didn't recognize anything you chose to do with Zevran in DAO (romancing/recruting/killing flags are all broken), DAA sent out everyone-is-dead flags if you played through Witch Hunt preventing you from seeing Nathaniel in DA2 (and who else might not show up in DAI because your game thinks they're dead even though you kept them well alive?), etc. This is what they reference with the upside down and backwards gymnastics they had to do to read information from DAO to DA2, and even then it still read things wrong. (Not to mention if you had an Orlesian Warden in DAA you didn't even get to keep anything you did in your DAO playthrough, because you had to start a new game from scratch. Eesh.)
I do have a lof of my PC saves safely backed up and still intend to recreate them in the Keep and use only Keep-generated saves for DAI anyway because of that. It's the only way to get a really clean save free of import bugs.

Oh, and it's great that they're even doing this at all, even if every little change can't be reflected.

I have never played Dragon Age: Origins or Dragon Age 2 so this is a welcome addition so I can jump into the Dragon Age universe while still personalizing the narrative thus far.
Honestly, I see this as both as positive and a negative of the Keep approach.

This way, Bioware will avoid the ravaging horde of fans that WILL come to be when they are unsatisfied with the way Hawke looks like in DA:I. For those who don't give a damn about what Hawke looks like they can have the generic Hawke look as an option.

Dunno if this has been asked earlier, but do you think it's possible that we'll have a CC for both our warden and our Hawke in the Keep? Since we already know that Hawke is going to appear in DA:I, having us creating Hawke's appearance in DA:I instead of Bioware taking a leap of faith and hoping that our Hawkes from DA2 will look the same in DA:I sounds like a good idea to me.

Really? When was Hawke being in DA:I confirmed?
