Best solution and depending on how detailed it is, it may be better than importing a save. None of the DA or ME games have imported w/out some kind of bug and I expect that will be the case in DA:I too.
As long as it is as detailed as it suggests it sounds great.

To me, this is basically saying "in order to import your decisions, you must be playing on a system connected to the Internet."
Console have USB port so maybe you will be able to download the generated file on your PC and than transfer it on your console.

This is a hassle, but doable.

I'd much rather have an in-game way to do this exact same thing than a cloud server. How long will this server be up? Five years from now? Ten? This pretty much has put a shelf life on how long you can enjoy the DA games with imported saves.
No

Thank you for that incredibly in-depth and intelligent answer.
How long do you think they will keep these servers up? If DA:I winds up being the last game in the series (for any number of reasons), how long do you think EA is going to "keep the lights on" for such a feature? You'd be lucky for more than three years for a non-revenue generating game.
So if "The Keep" gets shut down and you want to play DA:I again, are you comfortable with doing it with the bare bones import, that automatically chooses the worst settings? You will essentiay be locked out of content forever if these servers close

What's more important is that transfers ranging from previous to next generatinos and from consoles to PCs has been allowed.
Looks great on paper, let's hope that beta test will make it free from all bugs.

I don´t like to rely on a cloud server to store the data, when anytime in the future they may just shut it down, or need an internet connection just to import your saves and play DAI.

I called it, this is exactly what I mentioned a couple of weeks back. Do you remember Jimmy? Esper? Eh?
Yeah. I am immensely happy we didn't make a bet;)
I am a bit concerned how this will work for the console, but I suppose that it is the opposite of uploading your characters to BSN, so untill now I think it is okay.

Because your question was a bunch of conspiracy delusions spiced by the absolute assurance that bioware is made of bloody idiots unable to find a solution that is elemental with this system.
So be glad you had that no.

I think the checklist portions sounds great. I think the cloud portion sounds like a nightmare.
I'm still confused why they couldn't just put this exact same program in the game itself. Given that you'd be answering all the same questions and filling out all the same data, why not just have it as a part of the game proper, instead of thing it to a website?

Would I be able to use this to untangle import bugs in DAO for my DA2 playthroughs?

Yeah. That is why I only 'okay' about it. In theory it sounds great and if it works, that is fantastic. But I can't help to think what all those who don't have internet does, but perhaps that is just expected.
I supposse they don't put it into the game because it would take up a load of zots on the disk (or whatever next gen have). Or perhaps they do put it into the game as well as having this. It is not definite.

I'd actually be glad with an attempt at an answer.
Other than, of course, saying I'm insulting Bioware (and, somehow, you by extension) by asking an incredibly valid question of a guaranteed outcome. After all, these cloud servers WILL be shut off someday. Whether that is 2015 or 2055, it is inevitable.
So what are the options once this cloud server goes away?

I enjoyed DA:O and DA2, but to be able to go in and try various alternative what-if save states without having to play through them both, plus expansions, over and over again will definitely lend DA:I a lot of replay value.

I'm wondering wether it's "cloud only" or if you can save the data locally too.Fast Jimmy wrote...

I suppose this could be true, but how complex of a system is needed to fill out a checklist/questionairre? I mean... I wouldn't assume it is much more complex than a basic inventory system, or the Tactics screen. I've never heard of a developer struggling to for either of these types of systems on the disc for fear of space. It's always been graphics, animation and voice for those kinds of concerns.

Well, if they make it local then you'll have to it all over again when DA5 comes out on the XBOX3.14159. And it won't tie in with your android games or whatever.
But an offline version being shipped along with the game would be a nice idea.

Doing an offline program? Too hard for you?
And that's about your valid question.
