Some stuff was surprising when I gave it a peek a few weeks ago. Some stuff I wasn't expecting, though some stuff I was expecting was missing. Not sure what it's like now.

One advantage of the keep is that we can actually add missed stuff. While it won't be useable in a current game (since it wouldn't know to check for a particular plot flag), it does mean that said plot point could be used in a future game.

Does mean that, say:

Someone around here said the dwarf noble's son doesn't have a flag and so wasn't imported to 2 and so won't make a return.  Does this mean that you guys could decide, "Toss it in" and Mardy might make an appearance in, say, DA4 or so?

Hypothetically, of course.  As an example.

That is what it sounds like.

It sounds more and more like the Keep is much more viable in the long term than direct imports.

Yay!  That's exciting.

It gives them more flexibility.  Like halfway through DA5 they're like, "You know what would have been awesome?" and then they can go back and patch the keep.

I'm not saying that it *will* happen (as I am unable to predict the future), but it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more possible than if we were still relying on save game files to do the import.

It's a bit like the telephone game, where information has a greater likelihood of getting lost/changed every time it gets imported.  So from DAO to DA2 is one caller, then DA2 calls up DAI to tell it.  There were already awkward challenges with DA2's import because some things were just confusing... a character flag may be "is_alive" in DA2, but in DAO the flag was actually "is_killed."  Which can be a pretty innocuous mistake to make when writing dozens of plots and conversation lines.

Now, we *could* have changed the DA2 flag to "is_killed" but now we're spending a lot of time making sure that all instances of that flag are properly updated, and that all the times we were checking if that flag is true, we are now checking if that flag is false, and this is where bugs become more likely.

Exactly, this is a great idea for persistent save data over multiple platforms. I say the keep makes out save data platformless. The keep could be also easily used for other forms of media such as phone apps and electronic comics to check for flags. This was worth the investment from what I hear so far.

Not to mention from a usability standpoint it is probably implemented as web service which is totally beneficial.

I'm glad that it's possible now that those little choices can be imported as flags, and glad that it fixes some of the bugs. Once saw a playthrough of a hardened Alistair who married Anora, with Loghain alive and in the final cutscene instead I only saw Anora walking forward with Alistair missing. While in another playthrough it worked out fine.

And perhaps way in the future, it will be possible to play with the dragon age Keep offline, look at Simcity for example.

I remember creating dwarven elf mages that did the dark ritual and the ultimate sacrifice.

Not to mention Awakening buggering a lot of flags if you used your Warden for it. Poor Zevran thinks his Warden is dead. *sniff*

I'm getting even more excited for the Keep, especially with all the information with DAI coming out. Has there been any more news on the keep? I haven't heard any in a while.

Maybe someone can ask directly: will the keep make it possible for my ultimate sacrifice warden and my Orlesian warden commander to exist in the same universe?

THIS!!!

Or even let my Warden stay with Alistair as grunt Grey Wardens, Alive, with Anora on the throne and an Orlesian Warden Commander in Ferelden.

I really hope this will be possible - or is the Grey Warden Hero of Ferelden always going to be the Ferelden Warden Commander as a canon if still alive?

All I've heard on this is that one of the devs was very excited about this possibility.  So I think it's intended to be possible at least.

It does seem like the type of thing that could be resolved perfectly with the Keep

Does anyone regularly check their email for an invite? I know I do. I also heard there's been two waves of invites sent so far. Fingers crossed!

It would, especially since I think the Orlesian Warden is intended to replace the Hero of Ferelden as the "Missing Warden" if the Warden is dead.

I'd also like for the Hero of Ferelden and the Orlesian Warden-Commander to be able to exist in the same worldstate. My female mage Warden became Alistair's chancellor and chose to stay in Denerim to serve the crown. I avoided Awakening because I wanted to preserve that ending.

That would be ideal, but I'd bank more on the dead warden possibility, if only because it's much less confusing for the writers to take into account when there is only one major Ferelden affiliated Warden at a time.

I was wondering is the principle the same as the Masefects umm I forgot the name of it genisis I believe it was, or will it be more like a check list?

Does anyone have any idea when this will be out officially for everyone to use.
