No, because the Keep is not only being created to allow for cross-gen file transfers but also to fix bugs that have crept up in DA's save files. Also the Keep being online makes it easier for Bioware to fix future bugs, something which cross-gen file transfer alone doesn't do.Does this minecraft news give some a little hope about cross-gen file transfers?

But Mark did say this in the August blog,
"What about actually importing your save games? We are continuing to investigate ways in which save files from previous games could be used to populate the initial world state of the Dragon Age Keep. We’ll provide more information on this in the months to come".

I don't know if it has been asked, but has it been told if the DA keep will work as an app?
And if it does, will xbox and ps players need to download to a tablet or something?

The Keep is just going to be a website. Nothing to download, except for your save file i assume.

Yes, that is easy for a pc user. A xbox can't download like.
My dumb pc broke down, so I will start out with a copy on my husbands xbox. Just worring how it will work.

It has been stated in a number of places that it's just going to be a small save file that you can place on a flash drive to install on the PC/console of your choice.
They did this so that even if you cannot get access to the internet from home, you could potentially download it from anywhere for use anywhere. Makes things much easier in the long run imo

I assume that it will work like connecting to the dragon age servers when you play the first two games. It's been a little bit since I played them, but didn't they sign you into Origin or something when you started the game. I figure it's like that.

I don't recall that either. Only that it was a hope or speculation by users...

Honestly I hope there is an app for console players. I would like the app to be able to use the Keep like on the PC but if they can't do that just make it as a gateway for console players to snag their Worldstate after it has been made.

Is there a set release date for The Keep?
If not an exact date a rough idea e.g: the month or Q3/Q4?
Also is the beta for The Keep still open? ![]()

Well this bit I have heard of, Keep is still in closed beta and you can still sign up for it.
As for resease it was hinted at 1 month before DA:I comes out, but not 100% sure.

IIRC, they said that you could access the web site from any computer (it being a web site, and all) so you could go to the local library, for instance, and download your file there to jack into your console.

I wish they had a App that could be downloaded on the 360,XBone,PS3 and PS4 that would be nice and they still could update whenever they wanted.
But a Website is cool I guess it is better than anything right.
Oh also I heard that The Keep may allow World State Sharing if thats true and I hope it is whats your opinion?

Please go there, it has all the latest official info on the Keep. Also, I preordered it (the game) will be availiable oct 7th, so the Keep will be active (I am guessing here) at LEAST 1 month prior to release date.

Yeah I don't remember this at all.
The Keep is designed to save to a cloud server, which DA:I then accesses when you make a new game.
I've heard nothing about being able to download save files and put them on your game via USB, and I'd be surprised if that was part of their plan.

Does the Dragon Age Keep staff have plans in place for the distant future? The issue with a web-based solution is that it is reliant on a component not in the hands of the player. Once support for the service ceases (or the server on which the Keep is maintained is shut down), players lose access to the tool. This is not an issue for the first few years of release, obviously, as support is maintained, but eventually such services are bound to be ended. This causes issues for players looking to replay the games many years after they've come and gone. I reference another Bioware product as an example of this: Mass Effect 1's "Bring Down the Sky" DLC relied on an internet component for code generation/activation that has since been removed--thus requiring players to directly contact tech support every time they want to activate the DLC.
Making a stand-alone downloadable application would be prudent, if only to keep as a backup to offer players for if/when the online component is shut down.

In a video of an interview with Fernando Melo called What Is the Dragon Age Keep? Fernando mentions that they are hoping to use The Keep for future games maybe even a Dragon Age 8, if it happens, so it should still be around and be able to be used then. I hope this helps at all.
