Given the engine change, if the Warden-Commander and Hawke appear I would anticipate them having default appearances. That doesn't really bother me - just the idea that some version of the character I played all the way back in origins is being represented in Inquisition would be satisfying.

I see death being the best solution for surviving PC Wardens than the complaining of what they did with the Warden will be easier to quiet down.
I'm not sure the people complaining that their Warden died would be any easier to quiet down than people complaining that they were silent/not silent/out of character/not in the game at all. Whatever BioWare does with previous protagonists, someone is going to complain.
(That said, I personally wouldn't mind the Warden being killed off-screen. Or talking or not talking or whatever. I would just like to know what happened to them.)

For Hawke, there's the issue of appearance but we have a VA. So either helmeted/hooded like the Warden, or the use of very clever camera angles to show both the Inquisitor and Hawke in the same scene without revealing Hawke's face.

I really wouldn't mind default characters- but based on their race and class

Killing off protagonists without player input does not seem to be a very successful or popular strategy for Bioware lately, to put it lightly.
I think the reaction to the Warden dying offscreen would not be pretty.

They've released another batch of invites for the keep beta the first of may. Not invited yet.
They've sent out more? Kinda disappointing to hear nothing for those who'd signed up since they first announced they'd be open for beta. Guess it's not first in first testing?

No, it's not. Also, there are more than 32,000 people signed up for the beta, so the chances of any individual getting in are tiny at this stage. (I'm assuming the first few rounds of tests have involved dozens or hundreds of people, not thousands.)

My personal best-case scenario would be getting a glimpse of a hooded/helmeted Warden (perhaps with his/her love interest at his/her side) but no speaking lines. Maybe they could send the Inquisitor a letter apologizing for being unable to meet in person.

.
This " no words" scenario is kind of pointless and i personally think there wont be any Warden appearance whatsoever. Not to mention he can be dwarf....etc..etc..At best we will hear about him.
Hawke though can be done easily. People just need to accept the fact that he will be probably Male Hawke with the default looks. He is voiced and all. Deciding on the class (if it is required, cause there may be a peaceful scenario in which he appears) will be no big of a deal.

And this is why I want no involvement of Hawke or Warden in this game. I don't think it would be necessary and there will be far too many complaints of people saying their Hawke/Warden wouldn't move that way or cough at that moment.

What would be the point of letting us input Hawke's gender and class into the Keep if they were just going to have default male Hawke appear anyway? I think this is very unlikely.

I feel the same way. That part of the story is done.
I'm ready to move on.

yep yep I agree,=D I think the keep might introduce something in the far future when they choose to have the new DA projects coming down the line. maybe an expansion.. they will let you recreated the warden and hawke to help pop out in a future game. but for now it's done ^^

Not just unlikely, I think it's ridiculous.
The idea that they'd ever use a default Hawke or Warden in the game, after going on for years about how the player shapes the narrative, is crazy. It'll never happen.

Before they announced the Keep, I wouldn't have been surprised if Inquisition ended in such a way as to render the player's previous choices moot and DA4 didn't even have an import. But they're putting so much work (and presumably money) into building this thing, I'm inclined to believe BioWare when they say they'll let us shape the world. And that includes such choices as 'what species was the Warden?' and 'was Hawke a dude or a lady?' Why the hell would they bother with any of this otherwise?

Even without a CC they should at the very least let you specify the Warden and Hawke's Gender and class (as well as Race for the warden)

I admit I haven't been following this as closely, but my impression was that we weren't going to literally see the Warden/Hawke ingame, but rather that their "appearance" would be in terms of info, like what happened to them. Maybe I misinterpreted the scarce dev comments though.
They've sent out more? Kinda disappointing to hear nothing for those who'd signed up since they first announced they'd be open for beta. Guess it's not first in first testing?
Correct. They've said that, particularly in the early stages of testing, they're trying to draw testers from a variety of different levels of experience and familiarity, etc. So they're explicitly avoiding a first-come-first-serve(d?) basis.
Even without a CC they should at the very least let you specify the Warden and Hawke's Gender and class (as well as Race for the warden)
Not positive, but I think this was confirmed. (I know I shouldn't be one of Those People who states something like that with no verification, but....unhh. I'm pretty sure.)

I think bringing The Warden/Hawke back is a double edged sword mainly because appearances and such and not to mention how they can be implimented in the story that is believeable and understandable I get the fact that after DAO and DA2 they stopped being ours but I hope they are not brought back in a way that leaves plot holes.
And a part of me secretly is afraid that they will killed off in some lame way I hope not but we will see wont we.
I just cant wait to get in the keep I am patiently waiting for the keep to open up so I can get my world states ready and just mess around with it .

There'll be plenty of time to get world-states ready between the Keep's launch and the game's launch, supposedly.

I agree. Personally, if DAI went this route, I wouldn't use the Keep even if I could.
I'd rather the Warden and Hawke didn't return in person at all, and just have the Inquisitor hear about what they've done. It's not their physical appearance I'd worry about as much as keeping their personality close to the character I played. Trying not to be too concerned about it at this point because I still don't know if I'll be able to use the Keep. If the previous protagonists are handled badly, there's a chance my characters could be saved by default (pun intended).

Yes but speculation on when the keep is being released remains. That said I think they will ramp up beta exponentially more with each month. So soon it will basically be a open beta so we can hammer out all the bugs. I am sure there will be plenty as with all crowd tested software. That's my hope anyway.
You'd think they'd have to have an open beta just to test the server load.

^ That does sound like what they plan to do, explained in more detail by this post a few pages back.
This, basically. It's still fairly early days on our road to launch DA Keep. To get the most out of these initial waves of user feedback (incl testing out even basics like our feedback system works as intended
) we need to purposefully keep the number of users relatively low so we can resolve issues swiftly. So yes, statistically the odds are fairly steep at the moment.
However, as we move forward, we will add more and more people on the DA Keep on a more frequent basis. And ultimately completely opening the doors for all ahead of DAI so everyone will have more than enough time to play with DA Keep, setup their world history(ies) to their specification, and have everything ready for when DAI launches.
So statistically, the odds will definitely improve over time and that will also accelerate. But the best part (I think), is even if someone didn't make it into the beta, they will still be 'getting in' before DAI anyway.
Hope that helps.
F.
