yep yep I agree,=D    I think the keep might introduce something in the far future when they choose to have the new DA projects coming down the line. maybe an expansion..  they will let you recreated the warden and hawke to help pop out in a future game. but for now it's done ^^

Exactly. Once The Keep is in place they might have a vehicle for continuation.

I do appreciate people's feelings, though. It's to BioWare's credit that they made such engaging characters.

I think this is a great idea!! I always have a favorite playthru that I use when starting another new game of DA but to be able to see other permutations for your choices with out having to run thru all the hours of content yet again is something I think fans of this franchise have been looking for.

Yes for sure. =D Hawke and the warden become such engaging characters..  going off topic for a sec ,I really had more fun with DA2..listing to my female Hawke talk was really fun^^

But Yes..the Keep is chance to  be vehicle for continuation..    I really do think that Hawke and Warden will be reintroduce in a future project or expansion. To solve the problem of peoples personal character , they will let you recreated them in game or release some type of character tool but not now. So people dont need be up in arms.. =D right now..  =D I know my hawke and warden wont pop out in DA:I. Which is fine to me because  they are off doing something together..something big.. that will be another story to tell.

Yep, the video that was posted,, pretty much talks about the same point your making. It's a chance for players who dont wish to spend 140 hours again, to help rebuild . and save  multiply choices. Also the way he talk in the video they plan for future DA projects to come. and this system will help.  He  even said something about  several years later. A new fan is introduce into dragon age. the keep helps them a lot.. to save time and also they might be into newer graphics..they just see da:o out of date. dont wish to play it. because they are used to higher graphics now

Hello Community.

Sorry in Advance if this Question has been already answered. I have read the first 7 Pages, all Bioware-Team Answers and beginning from Page 80 all the rest. Could not find an Answer.

Question is: Do we already have to be Pre-Ordered DA:I to have a Chance to be selected in the Beta? Have not Pre-Ordered yet as I am still waiting for the Announcement of the Collectors Edition. And only after that [and knowing what the CE contains of course], I will do a Pre-Order of any of the Extended Editions.

Thanks and have a Good Day :)

Oliver

As we have heavy Roadworks and Enhancements to our local Internet Landlines, Allocator and all that Hardware, we will have complete Internet losses at least for another ~8-10 Months from time to time. And when that happens, those losses take ~10-14 Hours. So I hope that we can

A.) Create all our different Worldstates in the Keep

B.) Download ALL the different Worldstates to our PC [or one of those Consoles if People choose to use such things ;)]

C.) Copy whatever Worldstate we wanna use for that actual Playthrough to the DA:I Savegame / Whatever Folder

D.) Start DA:I and we are good to go :)

In Addition: Let us choose a Folder on our own. Just dont save them automatically in the AppData -> Games Folder. I have many customised Folders for many Games. I love to have my Stuff organized.

Please. Please. Please.

Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.

And for the not-so-tech-savvy:

Maybe add a Function to the "Dragon_Age_Inquisition_Config Tool". Like it was in the Mass Effect 2 Config Tool.

As far as we know, it makes no difference at all - especially since BioWare have no way of knowing about pre-orders. (Unless you made them through Origin. I guess they could hypothetically track those.) The first couple of rounds of the beta happened before pre-orders were even available for most stores.

EA shutting down 50 titles including classic Battlefield, FIFA, Crysis, Need for Speed games (via Polygon)

The company that EA contracts with for hosting the online components for these games, primarily multi-player matchmaking and leader board services, is shutting down their hosting. This means that the dozens of games they host will either be shut down permanently, be transitioned into an offline state, or hopefully be picked up by another company as is Star Wars: Battlefront 2.

---

If you look at the many posts that I've made about the Keep in this thread you will see that I am supportive, pleased with the concept, and greatly looking forward to using the DA Keep for DAI and beyond. However, with news like the above (yes, I did read the whole article), how can you expect myself and other players to not be concerned about the longevity of an internet required service like the Keep, especially if there is no offline storage component?

I still play Neverwinter Nights, which is 12 years old. I know many players still play games that are even older. If the DA franchise is dead in 12 years will the servers still be online? Can you guarantee that they will be? No, you can't.

It is not my intention to be alarmist. Neither the Keep nor DAI have even been released yet, so we are certainly in no danger of the servers disappearing any time soon. But it is, and should be, a consideration eventually, and before the development cycle ends on DAI within the next couple of years and you all move onto the next game. Right now, no one expects any patches to fix remaining problems within DAO or DA2. There will come a time when that will apply to DAI also. So PLEASE, at some point, put in support to load up Keep world states that are saved locally.

I fortunately long ago I wrote down everything that I did in the last two games so I'm all set for the Keep.

To anyone who didn't do this and cant remember; I'd suggest loading up your old saves and try to figure out what you had done. Write it all down and come Keep launch day you'll have a basis of what you need to do.

Hey, sorry kind of new to the discussion. I was wondering apart from general import flags from the previous games, will there be any additions to the keep. Just general choices that maybe didn't appear in the games? Or just added bits to the keep. Seems a bit weird but I was just wondering.

Agreed. Local storage of the files would be a good thing for people who can't connect their consoles to the internet for whatever reason, and it could future-proof our save imports for years to come. I hope they enable this at some point even if it's not right away before Inquisition is released.

We don't what's in the Keep yet, but I think we can safely say that all the decisions will be things that were available in the games and DLC.

And this is why I want no involvement of Hawke or Warden in this game. I don't think it would be necessary and there will be far too many complaints of people saying their Hawke/Warden wouldn't move that way or cough at that moment.

I agree.  I really don't know why our Wardens or Hawkes showing up again is such a point of contention.  Seriously, I'm very hard-pressed to care about what my past heroes are doing nowadays in their retirement.  We've moved on -- this is our Inquisitor's story.

Word is that there will be descriptions about each suggestion explaining what they mean for people who either didn't do this, or have never played the other games so they can make an informed choice.  It's not suppose to be like: Morrigan had the Dark Ritual Yes No.

I'd like to see my Warden again, just because I was very attached and invested with him, not my Hawke so much.  However if neither one shows up I'd be ok with that as well.

People generally don't like it because they don't want their Wardens or Hawkes to be portrayed speaking or behaving in ways that are uncharacteristic with how that player roleplayed them in their own game. Also, some players have a definite path that they had their character go off on. Yes, I understand that that is considered "head canon" and that now these characters "belong" to BioWare to do with as they please. But you shouldn't expect every player to be happy about it, or even indifferent.

I personally would be happy to see neither of them again, particularly my Warden. If Hawke had had an expansion of her own that would have been great, but that never came to pass. I'm ready to leave those characters in their respective games, looking like they looked, controlled by myself, and move on and focus on my new character and her new problems.

... Although I will admit that if I can get a fun allusion to my Alistair romance I'll be all fangirly. I also would like to see Cullen's reaction to meeting my mage Warden again (especially given his line of dialog in DA2), but I really, highly, extremely doubt that will ever happen.

One of the aspects I'm curious about is if there will be a "character creation" for Hawke and Warden(s), Or if there is a default for gender, class, race, etc. should there be any top gun high fives between characters in DAI.

Also in light of server shut downs, an offline keep would be practical in the long run.

There's no character creator in the Keep, but we can set the gender, class and (where applicable) race of our previous characters. The only way the default values will be used is if you don't use the Keep at all.

There's no certainty that the Warden and Hawke will physically show up in Inquisition, and if they do they can always go the popular face-covering armour route. (Or have them lurking behind potted plants the entire time.)

They can also Have the in game CC Recreate them with our input right before they show up in the game. That would work.

On the old forum, basic elements  of your DAO and DAA story line were uploaded to your game profile as a pseudo timeline.  Unfortunately, this was not the case for DA2, but at least there were not too many meaningful choices in DA2.

Has Bioware considered allowing any applicable info in our old game profiles be easily used for the Keep?

THIS .... is something I have not yet considered, and to to be honest a very strong point (in my opinion)  I appreciate you going into such detail, maybe BioWare will hear it, or (Maker willing) there is still enough of the old BioWare there to consider this. ;)

I have also done this, a little extreme on my behalf lol    Every character I have created (13) in total, I created a Character Sheet for (i.e. D&D style) on my PC and listed every decision that I made which "felt" applicable.  i.e. What so and so did in Orzammar, who is King, what they did with the Anvil etc etc. As an old school rp gamer (and a very obsessive one to I will admit) each of my characters has a personality all there own so making choices is always interesting. Ive been running most of these characters sense AD&D days in some RP form or fashion lol .... yes Im old B). I have documented them all for my own reference for future games .... so it will be interesting for me to see what I "Felt" may have been a big decision in DAO, DAA and DA2, compared to what options the Keep will give me :P
