I didn't say that - I did say that it could probably happen given that the character is technically no longer in your control, no?Reidbynature wrote...
Well if you guys say that's what will happen then it must be true.
Yes, it's this thread again. Warden & Hawke will defenitely be in DA:I.

Well, I could spend the next 24 hours piling up all the evidence about Hawke & the Warden appearing in DA:I. But I don't want to do that. The reason I created this thread for specifically that line of text is because that, to me, seems like the final confirmation that those two characters will be featured in the game.
Please do, because you don't have a shred of "evidence" and merely assumptions and extrapolations.
Prove me wrong.
And as for the line, if you'll recall DA ][ it mentions the Warden--the Warden's race and/or class at particular times--specifically, but nowhere did the Warden appear (nor was it necessary).
You're making large leaps.

We are talking about characters that players themselves shaped -- I feel, based on what I've come to experience with fan expectations for BioWare games, that a Warden & Hawke cameo is a recipe for outcry and disappointment. The alternative could be more than just vague references, instead of an actual appearance, perhaps confirmation that they are alive and well fighting Darkspawn or whatever. I don't know though -- I'll wait and see how BioWare works this out.Reidbynature wrote...
Just saying that the doomsday scenario may not be the one that happens. Not everyone may be so torn up about their Warden acting exactly as they pictured them in their mind when making all those choices in Origins.

Essentially it's like importing but without having to go back and replay the games to get the worlds you want, you can just use the app to create the worlds you want as many times as you want and save it to the cloud and use it in place of your save data.
I'm not sure what to make of this since it's a risky move and can blow up in their face if they don't handle this carefully.

I'm sure there's people that wouldn't care if the Warden showed up as a chaotic evil dwarf with an IQ in the single digits that had to be killed in a sidequest.Reidbynature wrote...

"Very bold move by Bioware!"
Doesn't exactly make it a good idea. The franchise isn't about the Warden, it's not about Hawke. Dragging them along into new installments sets a bad precedent and runs risks against the player's investment in the franchise.

I see some make the assumption that most DA players are generally incredibly precious about our playthroughs as the Warden or Hawke and that taking them out of our control is a 'betrayal' or whatever. I'm not convinced they speak for the majority of the BSN let alone the entire audience for the games. I don't think the BSN will suddenly fall apart if they appeared.

It doesn't have to be total self-destructive to be a bad idea. The ME3 ending didn't kill BSN, but that doesn't mean it was good.
No, but it wasn't meant to be. It was a counter to your claim it wouldn't matter.Reidbynature wrote...

If it didn't matter, you wouldn't care whether that was likely or not.

But of course people are precious/passionate about their game, protagonist, characters, choices etc. Otherwise there wouldn't be an 'Extended Cut' for ME3. Fall apart is probably an exaggeration, but I don't doubt there'll be loud outcries of disappointment. BSN isn't BioWare fans incarnate after all, there are plenty of them outside these forums. My previous experience with this forum though, and people's passion for their Warden to reappear, (this thread is only one of many) gives me the idea that how the Warden is handled is very important to a lot of fans.Reidbynature wrote...

Yup totally agree. Just throw in some mentions of my warden/hawke and I'll be fine. I rather have no cameo than a really bad one.dreamgazer wrote...
Why are people so interested in the idea of BioWare taking control of their previous PCs (including voice-acting for the Warden) and forcing them into concrete positions in DA:I? Do you guys not realize how poorly this could turn out, how poorly it'd turn out under any developer's roof?

It wouldn't make sense if the dwarves called your warden a paragon because only dwarven PC can become Paragons. Or it wouldn't make sense if some NPC said "The Champion was a mage and he saved Kirkwall from the Qunari" if you're champion wasn't a mage.
