Hey folks.
We have a guy who created "catsuits" out on the Vault.
http://nwvault.ign.c...l.Detail&id=512
They're useful. In fact, they're *stupid-useful,* and have resulted in a few surcoat haks, etcetera. It's done by using the belt slot. Normally, nothing in the belt slot actually displays unless it's added via Armor Set. I'm guessing this was done by adding in the normal skeleton so that the model actually rigged/displayed.
Take an armor and make it equippable in the amulet, carmour, or cloak slot, and nothing visual or a/c-related happens. Anybody know, therefore, how he did this with the belts? I'm sore tempted to try to make visible amulets and such...
Talk to me about models and skeletons

if you create a belt base item the armor set tab will be activated so a model can be linked to the .uti. this doesn't work with jewelry. besides i doubt that those small items will be visible in such a way that the effort to create them is justified
better create some custom base armor models or other equipment to get a unique look.

Ugh. Thanks, I was afraid somebody would say that.
I wish I knew why this is the case, and why a belt will display, but a jewelry or creature armor won't, for instance (or how one could mod that). I can finagle stuff for NPCs, but over and over I hear from players wanting to affect their character's appearance, as opposed to the base mesh more or less being "everybody who puts on a stock leather breastplate wears orange pants, because this is the orange-pants breastplate model."

because the engine was not created that way. guess it's hardcoded so there ain't nothing you can do about it.
there's also this mod if players want to change their appearance. dunno if dyeing is possible in nwn2 but at least you can swap model parts.

Yeah, point. Another one for the "released source-code wishlist," I guess. So if I want to do this, I can only hit those items which will show in the armor set, just like Charlie's app.
