Some people aren't keen on letting copyright infringement slide, and Viacom is one of those companies. Granted it does seem odd that they would pull that ad off the Bioware channel since I'm sure they had some kind of contract with them in regards to the content, but at the end of the day they have every right to do those things. Does it suck? Yes. But the law is on their side.XyleJKH wrote...

If you put a billboard on my land, and someone else steals that billboard, I have the right to reposess it. Too bad, so sad. Life goes on and a company has the rights to their shows over the rights of the people who own the product displayed on the show. Was this in Bioware's official channel? How bout EA's? If it wasn't then there's no point in even bringing them up. If it was then they didn't ask for the video rights to put it on YouTube. It's how business works and you getting angry over it is a foolish thing at best. Go watch it at Mass Effect's website or GameTrailers and realize that companies are shockingly enough, out for money. When their private property is posted on YouTube they're losing hits. Less hits means less money from advertisers means less likely they'll be in the black. This isn't an issue of freedom of publishing it's an issue of legal bull****, and in this case, Viacom has the upper hand.
Doesnt change the fact that Viacom is a corrput evil company. This isnt the first time they have taken stuff down off youtube... sometimes people's personal videos (but that is entirely different matter)
and you dont think I know how buisness works? This is just pure BS/

Welcome to the world of business, young padawan. You have much to learn.
I dont own a buisness but I do have a great understanding in how it works. I mean... look at bands like Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, System of a Down... I know there is more, but they started giving stuff away and still made millions. I know they were already huge artists at the time, but the point is stunts like this can affect negatively on companies.
Metallica suffered a huge hit AFTER they sued Napster.
Oh yeah there are other new artists that began big this way... OH WAIT YEAH... Justin Bieber.

Yeah, those horrid people want to make money off an investment, now they get to twist their EVIL moustaches because they get to stop people from stealing what is theirs. Taking down things that are THEIRS isn't corrupt or evil, you just can't deal and that's your real issue. Get over it, move on. YouTube won't be a place where you can put anything until YouTube identifies who made what and distributes pay per view personally.XyleJKH wrote...

Second. Examples from the music industry are not really relevant to a youtube discussion.

Yes I know... the law also says smoking Marijuana is illegal, also says sodomy is illegal (in some places), also says if a man breaks in your house and you beat him self defence, you can be sued, charged and go to jail.

Im not your typical canadian that just says "oh well.. what can you do..."
We live in a society of victimization, where people are much more comfortable being victimized than actually standing up for themselves. That attitude needs to change...
anyway that is all I needed to say. Just trying to pick out who thinks this is an injustice, that's all

SyFy is owned by NBC Universal, not Viacom.
Viacom just hates YouTube and has even claimed copyright on homemovies that have been uploaded there.

The tyranny, right? If they want to advertise their product then there's going to be rules in place.
I just hate it when companies pull **** like that
Oh yes cause a 30 min documentary on Mass Effect is the only damn thing Viacom has to show, it's horrible I know, all of there channels only have left a Sci vs Fi to show then that's it, they are all out of programming.

WHAT??? They tried to block personal videos??? Scy fy might be their product but when a company tries to cut personal liberties on home movies thats when people draw the line, what was the contents of those home movies do you know?

Of course. But don't be sensitive, it was meant jokingly.
