I'll buy it but i'm gonna call it now the amount of fan service this game is getting is gonna ruin it.

Don't know if I'll be pre-ordering, but I'm too invested in the storyline to even consider not somehow getting it. Plus, y'know... Bioware. Even the stuff many don't like is usually at least played out with style.

So long as the product is not rushed, it should be worth the eventual wait.

Some people object to the term fanservice.
The delay in releasing the game allowed Bioware to include multiple origins even though by their own admission most players only play as humans.
So why bother ?
Will being able to play as a nonhuman increase your desire to buy the game over what you might have done if there was only a human origin ?

Would you buy DAI if it didn't have romances ?
It will have romances but allegedly most players don't do them.
So I am mystified why Bioware even bothers with them.
Lastly, the Frostbite 3 engine has something called Destruction 4.0 added to it, presumably meaning there will be more destruction in DAI than in previous DA games .
Is that an incentive for you to buy it?

Any specific examples you had in mind?

It looks good (graphics). Sure when info first came out I jumped on the bandwagon like everyone else. But after careful consideration and listening to writers preen.I give it a maybe to possible.
Like to know what the extra year was really for, MP,MMO, a computer crashed and they lost 6 months of plot twists. But I bet I'd buy it if I could have a good meal, a girl and shoot lighting at fanboys and stupid postings.

Probably because, while 80% of people played human in DAO, the 20% who played elves and dwarves were some of the most invested players. While BioWare can't always please its hardcore fanbase (which is unpleasable anyway, in aggregate) I'm sure they like to accomodate us when they can. And because the developers like multiple races.

Would you buy DAI if it didn't have romances ?

Yes. I enjoyed Awakening, so while I love the romances and will be happy to have them, they're not necessary to get a purchase out of me.

It will have romances but allegedly most players don't do them.

Most people won't finish the game, that doesn't mean BioWare won't put in an ending.

I think there are a bunch of reasons why BioWare keep putting romances in their games. First of all, the writers seem to like writing them. They also provide more roleplaying opportunities for the players that do care about them. It's also something their games are known for at this point - no other CRPG developer really bothers with this. That means there's a small but enthusiastic segment of the audience that BioWare has a lock on. And if they STOPPED doing them at this point, I don't think they would enjoy the reaction of that small but enthusiastic segment. (Again, BioWare can't spend all their time catering to the various factions of hardcore fans. But despite what some people think, I doubt they deliberately go out of their way to ****** us off.)

Lastly, the Frostbite 3 engine has something called Destruction 4.0 added to it, presumably meaning there will be more destruction in DAI than in previous DA games .

Nah, I'd have bought it anyway, whatever engine it was running on and however many bridges I couldn't blow up. But I do plan to set a lot of things on fire.

I read an online gaming mag where the writer said he was surprised Gaider wasn't enamored of romances.
The cutting back romances in the greater scheme of things comment by Gaider in the GI update, although there's debate between me and others as to when that will occur, goes along imo with Gaider's disenchantment over romances .
Just fyi.

I did notice from the DA wiki that there had been some figurines made for sale for DAO. Anybody here own those ?
Would you buy something similar for DAI if available.
I presume you would buy those after you bought the game.
But suppose you saw those online and liked them.
Would it increase your chances of buying the game.

Verrry likely. Even if DA:I again contradicts or even destroy some old lore I am sure this game will be entertaining at least.
Though I'm not sure I will pre-order it this time. Last two times I got DA2 and... ME3

Most likely preordering at least one collector's edition copy the moment CE details hit the internet. That is, unless the CE deal doesn't seem worth it, in which case I'll just preorder at least one standard edition.

I wanted a Morrigan, but they became rare and shot up in price crazy quick =( Finding the other figures was easy for years, and I'm guessing they're still around for a somewhat normal penny. Aside from perhaps Duncan.

I am firmly in the wait-for-bargain-bin-prices camp. I will not be burned again.

Stellar player reviews might make me change my mind and buy it sooner. But there's no way I'd preorder.

Not sure if I'll preorder, but I'll buy it 100%. And stay far away from forums until I've played it through at least twice, I'm way too easily influenced by criticism.

Now that you can play as a Qunari Inquisitor does that increase your interest in buying the game?

Not really, though that is good news. The return of Origins' style tactical camera, however? That definitely does the trick. If this looks as good as it sounds (hope for some gameplay footage somewhere along the line), there's a decent chance I'll be pre-ordering :)

No, no amount of promises will ever make me commitr to the insanity of blindly preordering without having seen anything conclusive out of the game. I will wait until it is out and is reviewed by reliable people, not IGN or gamespot or any of those people. This isn't just because of BioWare games, I fell for it with Aliens Colonial Marines and I think preordering is the dumbest thing one can do, its giving money for a product you know nothing about. It is not worth it, regardless of whatever gimmicks they promise as a bonus.

Actually, I'm revising my earlier reply... It depends what is ultimately decided to go with the pre-order/special director's cut widescreen collector's edition.

Also starting to wonder, not if there'll be day 1 DLC, but because it's almsot inevitable, these days, what it might consist of.

The DAI dlc could be anything .
shrugs .
I wonder if they'll do figurines again and how quickly the Morrigan one will sell out this time.

Two weeks ago I would have said there's no way I'm buying a Bioware game day one ever again. All the new information has made it mighty tempting to change my mind.

100% likely.

To clarify, this is not because of the new information.  I hate isometric cameras and I wasn't sad to play a human (although options are nice).  It's because I like the DA world and I want to continue my version of its story.

I'n pretty much decided now that I will buy it. Only thing I need to see now is some party combat and this game will become a buy before reviews sort of thing.
