Do you think it'd have a vastly different impact on the story?

For example, my MageWarden is a female elf, and my FemHawke is also a mage, so I'm going to make one of my Inquisitors a mage as well

With tempalrs defecting, circles collapsing, and all out war between mages and templars, do you think that the Inquisitioner could actually be hindered if he/she is a mage?

Especially if the the previous heroes were also mages?

I hope it will have a fairly large effect, I plan to play all classes and races and I hope each playthrough is pretty different. ^_^

BioWare has already stated the race will have an effect on how a person will play the game, I would imagine a class would also. Especially when their is a war with the word "Mage" in the title of it.

I betting on it since I'm going to play as elven mage and show the mage haters how much they suck.

Nope.

More than Origins/2? Hope so.

I think being a mage will have an impact more than say a rogue or warrior. But if your a elf mage I think your race might make more of an impression than being a mage (don't know for sure).

I hope it's both because I want to play as a elven mage who teaches those hateful people the she isn't one to be trifled with.

Since mage is my favorite class & my primary playthroughs are all mages...I expect it to have a big impact...Especially since both my Warden and Champion are Libertarian mages...& my Inquisitor will be one as well...

It would be really nice as a mage inquisitor to be able to make all the Templar Knight Commanders in Thedas to prostate before me..and the normal Templars to be my slaves ... *evil cackle*....

I expect being both non-human and a mage to have greater impact than before. Especially given the nature of the war and your organisations past. Maybe not that big a difference in the grand scheme of things but a few dozen instances spread across the game would be nice.

They're aiming for race and class to be more meaningful than in past games after all. Might even eclipse Origins in this regard, who knows?

I finished DAO with a male Dalish rogue, and a male elf mage, then finished DA2 with both a warrior and a rogue (just started yet another mage playthrough). No idea what class I will choose for DAI, I'll figure that on the character creator screen. There's high chance I will play as a mage since I find it very intriguing, but I'll probably start a few characters before settling on my personal canon. I do hope there is some recognition. It was definitely fun playing through most of DA2 and having Meridath go "yep I knew you were a mage the whole time but you weren't that important to me so I let it slide", so hopefully more of that is to come.

Blood mage is going to be a pretty tough sell I'd imagine. though with demons falling out of the sky and rogue Templars, what better time to be openly practicing a forbidden art in the open?

It'll be very interesting to see if it drives immediate wedges between party members and allies. Or if you can win them over by being a relatively nice guy...aside from the blood magic.

It will have zero influence on the story or almost negligible, like in DA2. Where being mage and/or supporting them mean nothing, with every single mage using blood magic.

Doubt it'll have a vast impact on the story. Might have a big impact on a few places.

I think Bioware said (even after the race announcement, that the class will have effects in the game, more than it had in the previous games. It'll be a combination or the race/class you choose for your PC.

well - i hope it has some impact (i just don't want it to completely block certain paths of (make them harder to get maybe, but locking them out...please don't...) like being able to be "nice" to templars (i want to make peace - well, without the Templars getting the upper hand on the mages again, like they had in the circle-system...like say: independence for the mages, with the Templars being stationed in each major city (or each city with a chantry?) and being tasked to protect people (and not being glorified murderers and prison-wardens!))

greetings LAX
ps: why should you practice your blood-magic openly? (hell, we know that - if you lookd at the lore - only certain people/parties should recognize you using it and only if you do it in front of them (Jowan comes to mind - they only suspected he used it, they didn't know for sure until he did it in front of the knight-commander and the first enchanter), so why would anyone know you are a blood-mage?)...secondly: i would love blood-magic (like force-persuade in KOTOR/SWTOR) talk options :)

I rather hope not.

I expect people will react differently to an Inquisition led by a mage than one led by a non-mage. People will likely assume you're anti-Circle and/or anti-Chantry.

I'm kinda saddened that being a blood mage has no impact on the world.

My Warden turned to blood magic leading to the final battle, my Hawke dabbles, because heck she's already an apostate, and my Inquisitor will because, well...the world is being overrun by demons

I mean Wynne NEVER said anything about my blood magic

Heck my MageWarden romanced Alistair- a freakin' ex-templar for maker's sake

Don't know, don't care. I prefer rogues but it must surely be relevant... In DA2 magic was pivotal, in DA:I it may even go so far to make impossible to get some tasks done.

That might be hoping for too much. Maybe for mages but I don't know for the other classes.

If we can become blood mages/spirit healers, I hope we at least get an quest to make an pact with an demon/spirit, rather then instantly gaining this abilities. I also wonder how a mage will lead the Inquisition, since I get the feeling it will be mostly based around the seekers of truth.

This. Although I do think that the only class that would impact the story is a mage. Races however, I do believe they will have impact the story depending on which race you play.
