Ok so we know that we are getting some returning characters as squadmates in ME2. Tali is one and (if you take all the game footage out there and add them up) Garrus is the other though Bioware will not confirm that for some reason.
What I'm curious about is the fact that we have already gone to hell and back with these people before in ME1. We are all in the "Kill Soverign and Save the Galaxy Club" so to speak. So why do I need to regain their loyalty again? Shouldn't I already have it? Will it be easier to get their loyalty then the other squadmates who are strangers?
Personally I'm going for the they aren't sure you're really Shepard approach. And who knows what crap they have gone through in two years. Along with the "OMG you're working for Cerberus!!!!"
What are your people's thoughts?

Chances are you probably already have a degree of loyalty from them.
Perhaps the way you'll lose their loyalty is by aligning yourself with party members they disagree with morally and your actions in the world.

I think if we import a Shep they will recognize us...and their loyalty missions simply delve deeper into their character, and also probably bring to light something that happened whilst Shepard lay there under the operating table. Also, their loyalty missions are probably more like... "Hey Shep, you think you can help me out?" It's not like a ...."you don't know anything about me!" mission, but one that aids them further...

I think you'll get a bonus for what you did and how you acted towards them but the whole "I came back from the dead and am now working with a xenophobic group that's against any progress but humanity's" thing is kind of an issue.
