One small part of the lore of Thedas has always interested me. Aeonar, "the mage's prison" .

"When the Imperium occupied the area that is present-day Fereldan, they had two sites dedicated to magical experimentation at the extreme ends of the Imperial Highway. The southern one was the fortress of Ostagar, which looked out over the Korcari Wilds. The northern one was Aeonar, although the exact location is now a secret known only to a handful of Templars.
Whatever it was the Tevinter were trying to discover at Aeonar, their work was never completed. The fortress was overrun by disciples of Andraste upon hearing the news of her death. According to legend, it was a massacre-eerily silent, for the invaders caught the mages while all but one of them were in the Fade.
The site was left structurally sound but spiritually damaged. Possibly because of this, the Chantry chose to put it to use as a prison. Accused maleficarum and apostates are held in the confines of Aeonar. Those who have a powerful connection to the Fade, and particularly to demons, will inevitably attract something across the Veil, making the guilty somewhat easier to tell from the innocent."

would love to see Aenoar in Inquisiton and it could potentially be the source of pro-Templar quests or some anti-Chantry/Templar allies.

According to some of the artwork that have been released there will be something of interest (base, enemy stronghold, ancient artefact of doom) in western Ferelden, north east of Kinloch hold.
My guess: Aeonoar.

It's an interesting location we have not seen in a region the game will involve, so I'd be hopeful of its inclusion.

Time to break Lily out.

I want my choice of setting Jowan free and making him run from Redcliffe be imported!

Then he can assist in going to Aeonar.

I can't quite find that piece of information, but it certainly sounds interesting. I'd so love for it to be Aeonar.

If not Aeonar, then some kind of creepy, haunted location(s), similar to Varric's "Haunted" quest, with ghosts and floating objects.

On a somewhat related note, I hope Varric is affected by the red lyrium shard I let him keep.:innocent:

I'd love to have a side quest to rescue Anders and or Merril / Bethany / Hawke from Aeonar ^^

The Alienage orphanage did it better, tbh.

This is something I've always wanted to see. The veil is thin there, from memory, so I think there could be some weird stuff. Lots of sylvans and other possessed type creatures. Maybe even a fade sequence?

I did feel sort of guilty that Lily got stuck there after the whole Jowan thing on my mage - heh. Anyhow, Aeonar is one of the places that I'd be interested in seeing in a Dragon Age game.

An Aeonar jailbreak would be epic.

One thing that has always puzzled me is that why Thedas would need an Azkaban when they can just tranquil troublesome mages.

Well we now know that the Rite can be reversed with potentially dangerous side effects. I would say, they'd need one now more than ever. And while Lily does refer to it as the 'mages prison', she is sent there despite not having magic. So it's really the prison of those who wrong the Chantry in some way, or maybe a glorified holding bay until the prisoner confesses to their crime, or pushed to such limits that they actually commit it in the first place as an act of desperation.

For those there is this. We have seen its use many times already - cures any ailments instantly and permanently.

Despite what the actions of Meredith would imply it is against Chantry law to make harrowed mages tranquil, so Aeonar is likely where they send "troublesome" mages who have undergone the harrowing.

Well, kinda I guess. Dead kids are more "aww" worthy, but it didn't really scare me.

I think it's hard to do creepy in Dragon Age because we know for a fact that demons must be behing whatever is going on and we can kill them.

My very first playthrough was with a mage and I've been intrigued by Aeonar ever since. I was dissapointed we couldn't go there in any of the games yet. Maybe one of our mage companions is from Aeonar, that'd be interesting.

i would love to see the "old" mages prison (hell, i would love to "cleane house" there and make it an Inquisition-Stronghold), even more, i want to know what the Magister were working on there (!) - i just love ancient secrets (maybe learn something new while we are at it) even more if they involve magic (my characters being mages love to learn ancient lore that makes them stronger and more versatile then their opponents (i imagine that modern mages do not know much ancient lore, as the circle is a wee bit restricted in what they teach IMHO and what they know about in general - most powerfull things are not readily available, unless you are in Tevinter i suppose (and even there you do not have access to everything if you are not a powerfull magister!)...but even they do not know everything...keepers do know things they don't for example, same as witches of the wilds and other hedge mages (Apostates in general probably know more then most Circle-Mages!))

oh, and for good measure, i want to toss out the templars (force a surrender if possible, i don't needlessly kill people if i don't have to - and having to surrender to a mage (surrendering being more of a shame then dying) is just the icing on the cake :P ) oh and i want to rub their noses with that (they killed dreaming mages, which is like killing a normal person in their sleep and it is despicable IMHO!)

greetings LAX

Honestly that place is asking for trouble.

Ooh, ahh, abominations are dangerous! So let's gather up all the mages that are the greatest risk of becoming abominations and lock them in a place that aids the process.

Either the Templars are dumb as posts or abominations aren't half as dangerous as is claimed.
