I would personally rather start with the specialization at character creation and have it reflected as part of your class during the story when appropriate.

I REALLY like this idea. Not just choosing Warrior/Mage/Rogue, but Templar/Blood Mage/Assassin, without access to those skills themselves until a higher level is reached would be a very interesting way to approach things.

I prefer choosing one specialization only, at the start of the game, and have it working like a backround/origin of a sort.

It will have lore, but you won't be unlocking it for a later level.

If they implement specializations from the first level, that is. If not, then unlocking is fine.

Interesting idea. Maybe once you hit the level required for a specialisation a quest automatically pops up that involves direction too that specialisation chosen at the begining.

I prefer story, but it felt 'unsynched' to leveling in DAO. If they could find a way to balance the unlock level and story unlock it would be awesome.

pre-chosing and only one? - bah, it limits my character too much IMHO (and, if companions have their specialisations already chosen, then i will end up having to have certain companions along without being able to use others (like DA2 with Anders being the only real healer...that was so ****in' stupid IMHO) as much...that's something i hated even back in origins (and it made sense there, as the specialisations were tied into the companions background (Alistair being recruited from the Templars, Wynne being a Circle healer, Morrigan the shapeshifting apostate etc.) but at least i had the option of giving them a second one in order not to be stuck with say Wynne for my healing (i prefered Morrigan))

i want my own specialisations to be chosen while i play (pre-chosing one is bad because maybe it does not fit your play-style or the companions do not fit with your specialisation (if you happen to dislike the companion that has what you need for example - like say you want a Berserker and dislike Oghren in DA:O) ...so no way IMHO) and there being at least two for the PC and Companions (i would love 3 though - if there are four available for example)

I remember them saying something about narrowing it down to 1 specialization so it can have a higher impact on the story. Mostly the way people (don't) react to you being a blood mage etc. If they narrowed it down to 1, they could do that better. But that was a long time ago, it was back then when they were saying you can only play human. So who knows.

I do prefer specializations that come from the story. If I got it from the start it'd be fine as well, I guess, part of the "backstory".

Story-gained all the way for me, preferably not carrying over between playthroughs.
