It's rather hypocritcal for them considering their loathness for organic life the the Collectors are their new thralls now since the Geth failed.

**POSSIBLE SPOILERS**

They've used organics before. Vigil mentions it briefly. It's even theorized that the Rachni were influenced by the Reapers and are what led to the war.

But that makes no sense, did they want to thin the numbers a tad?

Sovereign didn't fully reveal himself until the battle of Eden Prime and by that time the lives lost in the war would of been replenished... or maybe it was a test to see how well they'll adapt?

I also know they've used organics before but not an entire nation like the Collectors, just sleeper agents like Saren and the Protheans whom betrayed their brothers.

I think it's because insectoid races are easier to control than some others due to their hive mindset, and make good allies if you know how to manipulate them - at least in the short term. The Keepers, Rachni (as others have pointed out there is some evidence to suggest they were indoctrinated during the Rachni wars), and Collectors are all insectoid in origin.

Because they are not invincible and the combined efforts of the entire galaxy would destroy them since their little secret has been discovered. What remains to be seen is how the Reapers made contact with them. Sovereign wasn't the only reaper left in the galaxy I would guess.

The Reapers, like the thorian, see their indoctrinated slaves as nothing more than tools. You can't be hypocritical for using a hammer or screw-driver, unless you openly claim to hate efficiency I suppose.

For one, we don't know if the Collectors are really working for the Reapers, they surely seem to be related to them, but it could be more indirectly. And anyway, the Reapers brainwash organics and use them, so it could be one of those cases.

Has it been confirmed that they are working for the Reapers?

If not, I wonder if the Collectors don't have their own motives. Perhaps whatever they are doing is even some sort of effort to resist the next Reaper invasion.

Errr... Keepers, Saren, Benezia+Commandos, Husks, Prothean husks...

The Collector's are allegedly a hive-like species. It's possible you only need the 'leaders' allegiance and all others follow.

I also don't see it as hypocritical at all. They're getting organics to kill organics. They probably think even killing an organic life is beneath them.

Because it is strongly implied, we know the Collectors and Reapers share a connection because of their high-technology equipment.

Maybe they've been around much longer than all the other species combined... maybe they're actually capable of winning a fight against them and so instead of destroying them, they're teamed up for a mutual advantage.

The Reapers are too lazy to do it themselves especially with what happened to Sovereign

I guess that makes sense, it could take many years with manual travel.. that is if they didn't have a Plan B.. millions of years of succesful genocides and a spanner is thrown in the works, I doubt it.

First of all, the Reapers can basically do whatever is convenient for the Bioware writers. They threw out any pretense of believable motive when Sovereign said "PUNY HUMAN! YOU CANNOT KNOW MY MOTIVES. I AM ENEMY BECAUSE SO THERE."

Secondly, what is telling you that the Reapers are in charge of the Collectors?

We dont' know the nature of the relationship between the Reapers and the Collectors. To 'accept' something implies that something has been offered, and one has made a choice to receive it.

All we know is that the Collector drones and husk variants don't seem outwardly hostile to each other when they have been shown to both be present at the same location at the same time. There is a relationship there, but we don't know what it is, and things may not be as they appear. Just sayin'. B)

I think they're in charge of them. I mean, how else would the Collectors get such advanced technology?

Is it possible that the Reapers need Organics to do tasks that they are not programmed to do? Like monitoring the Citadel? For all we know the Reapers might not be as all powerful as they claim to be. Besides, maybe they require Organics to power themselves? Like maybe something from the matrix? Also, the Rachni apparently have some important role in the trilogy so I wouldn't doubt if the reapers were involved in the Rachni Wars. It's mind-blowing to think of all the possibilities by this trilogy.

I guess there's also the possibility of another advanced race out there
