EDIT: also, the only interesting Republic class

It's also not voiced by Nolan North (Jedi Consular). That guy's just been in too many MMOs lately (as my main character) that I can't stand his voice anymore.

Talking about SWTOR made me go back to my Bounty Hunter, 6 planets to go on him, 2 on my Consular and i would have completed every class story

I had loads of fun with it.

Managed to complete a Bounty Hunter, Jedi Knight, Sith Warrior and Sith Inquisitor.

Was busy with an Imperial Agent, Trooper and Smuggler, but I quit at some point.

Its a shame they never wanted to continue the class stories because those were the only reason why I started playing the game :P

You're almost there!

Be sure to check out the new Forged Alliances storyline while you're visiting anyway. Rumor has it the last part will be added tomorrow, when Strongholds also goes live officially for everyone.

OP I'd advice to give either Guild Wars 2 or Wildstar Online a try.

GW2 has a good and fun leveling system. However once you get to lvl 80 you might start to run out of fun things to do. The world bosses get boring and the dungeons start to feel like a grind. The only reason why I personally kept playing GW2 is because of the PvP community. I just love PvPing and WvWing, especially the latter (I play at a tier 1 server though, I've heard lower tiers are less fun).

Wildstar has amazing PvE content. Raiding is like in WoW but better. For everyone who enjoyed vanilla WoW but wants to try something new, try Wildstar. However, the PvP content in Wildstar sucks and isn't nearly as good as the PvP/WvW in Guild Wars 2.

Edit: I advice everyone to stay the f*** away from ESO. That game sucks in so many ways that I could write an entire book about it.

You may be right about the housing, it could be coming at a later date as you mentioned. (Especially since there's no hyping going on at the moment, something I'm almost sure they'd do for such a major feature as Strongholds)

Still! We'll be getting the last part of Forged Alliances.

From the official forums (TaitWatson's post):

Hey all!

On September 9th, all game servers and SWTOR.com will be unavailable as we perform scheduled maintenance. Game Update 2.10 will be implemented during this downtime. Details are as follows:

Date: Tuesday September 9th, 2014

Duration: 5 hours

Time: 2AM PDT (9AM GMT) - 7AM PDT (2PM GMT)

Patch notes will be available on Monday prior to the maintenance.

During maintenance, all updates and additional information will be posted on our Twitter account. Thank you for your patience as we maintain service for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™.

Hey everyone!

Our round of 2.9 testing on the PTS is coming to a close tomorrow, August 12, 2014 at approximately 4PM CDT (9PM GMT).

Shortly after that, characters will be wiped in preparation to upload Game Update 2.10 to the PTS, which we are aiming to bring up on Thursday, August 14th. The Game Update 2.10 Patch will be available to download prior to Thursday, and I am going to get the Patch Notes to you ASAP (I’m currently shooting for tomorrow to give you some extra theorycrafting time ).

Just as a heads up, 2.10 does bring the final part of the Forged Alliances storyline, but we are not putting the final Flashpoint on the PTS in order to give people time to play through the Manaan Flashpoint before learning about it!
Thanks everyone, and we look forward to hearing from you again for 2.10!

Spoiler

Why so few smugglers? i thought everyone wanted to be Han Solo and have their own furry sidekick

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say it's because their story isn't very interesting but that's my take.

P.S. Reportedly, The Imperial Agent has one of the better storylines, which means the Smuggler is second choice perhaps?

Well, having played every story to its conclusion (except for the Smuggler which I'm currently playing) I can confidently state that, to my mind, the Imperial Agent has the best storyline by far in the game.

At the moment I have my hands full with SWTOR but I'm considering giving GW2 a try. Will it still be around for a couple of years?

It's really a shame what you're telling me about ESO (I've heard the same from other sources) because the world of TES has an amazing potential for co-op play. That's kind of what I'm looking forward to with TESVI, a world we can explore solo or with a friend via local or online co-op.

I agree that the agent is a great story.  But I also loved the sith warrior story.  I thought it was fantastic.  Also, I have 2 smugglers.  The story isn't that bad.  It's fun.

Imperial Agent and Sith Warrior are my two favorites as well. Though I am rather partial to the Bounty Hunter's as well. :D

IA tends to dominate every poll on the subject though (and usually with a vast majority of votes), it is indeed the undefeated champion of the Class stories.

I don't see why not. Even GW1 is still available. I like GW2, but not nearly as much as I do SWTOR.

The September patch should help a little with that though, since it lets you do your personal/main story in large chunks rather than completely disjointed, which has been the state for years now.

Doing a tiny bit of story and then having to run around and grind out 2 levels to continue towards the next step got old very quickly for me. (even though the world events and stuff are fun)

A few days ago I logged back in after an extensive absence from the game, deleted all my characters (had to rename them all due to the server mergers) and started fresh with a Sith Warrior.

Enjoying the story so far and liking the snide remarks and comebacks.  Account is preferred status right now but I may re-subscribe doe the added benefits now that there is more to do in game with the new expansions and added content.

I must have missed something. How is the september patch going to influence the personal story progression? Is it gonna remove the level requirements?

I thought the opposite was gonna happen. Right now you can do lvl 10 story instances at any level, even lower levels than the recommended level for the instance. For example; you can do a lvl 10 story instance while being lvl 5 (this is what makes keyfarming possible). Soon, that should no longer be possible and you're gonna have to be lvl 10 first before you can do a lvl 10 story instance.

They are going to link it to certain levels, and once you hit that level you'll get a complete "package" of content at once.

Personal Story

As another addition with the level-up guide, we’re updating the personal story steps using our new Story Journal so they come in story chunks that unlock all at once per chapter. When a story chapter is unlocked as a level-up reward, you’ll be able to play straight through the entire chapter from start to finish and not have any awkward starts and stops that throw off the storyline. In this way, story chapters become another big moment to look forward to earning and unlocking as your character levels up.

01bd7story-chapter-590x454.jpg

We’ve also taken this opportunity to go back and reevaluate the rewards of each of the major story chapters. We’ve done some pretty major overhauls to make the rewards for completing chapters feel much more compelling than they were in the past. Personal story chapters will absolutely be worth completing for your character as you progress. Similar to level-up rewards, we won’t be able to retroactively apply these to current level 80 characters, but all future characters you create or level up to 80 will benefit from this system.

I'm currently working on the BH and agent story lines, having finished the warrior and inquisitor lines already. I'm finding the Empire side to have more fun stories than Republic so far. I'm also looking forward to the end of the Forged Alliances story.

Agree.

Republic class storyies are really boring compard to Empire. I consider Jedi Knight to be the strongest one on Rep side only because you actually see the Emperor.  Imperials have much better written stuff especially Agent and Warrior.

Yep! I'm Empire for life as well!

As soon as I finish my latest Juggernaut (tank) and Merc (healer) I think I might make myself another Agent too. It's been ages since I've played through it.

Conquests have proven to be a huge distraction for me. Especially with Strongholds added in.

GW2 has a fun leveling system? I suppose if you happen to have stores of the level up books it's fun...

Structured PvP has been slowly dying for months, and Anet has already destroyed the WvW community. Most of the actual good WvW guilds have already left the game, and newer guilds are starting to get into strategies that were meta a year ago. Tier 1 servers are usually mega-zerg X map which is rarely fun (killing them used to be).

Wildstar has been out for about three months now and they already did a massive server merger. It kind of screams "This game is dying! Stay Away"!

Will it still be around for a couple of years?

GW2 will undoubtedly still be around in a couple years, but I don't even know what the play base will be like by then.

*Snip ArenaNet BS*

Well, good thing I quit that game. Way to continue to ruin it Anet...

I've been playing this for about a month now. Made a Rattataki Inquisitor and it's been quite a good way to pass the time. I usually don't go for the squishier classes but I wanted to try something different. I didn't really like the Inquisitors voice at first but it's grown on me.

My biggest gripes with this game are it's barebones free-to-play system, even preferred status is only a slight step above, but I suppose you can't expect to get much as you're getting free access to such a massive game. I also really don't like having to cautiously avoid countless trash mobs just to get to a destination.
