No, I agree with you here. It didn't sit at all well with me that I had to run not one but two ops on Oricon to see how the story finished. I prefer Makeb in that respect since you can solo the story. What I said above was that I would welcome the possibility of being able to run mixed FPs and Ops since up until now you can only do them with Republic or Imperial characters only but not with both in the same group. Can you imagine a Sorcerer healing a Vanguard? :D

I've never been fond of getting single player storylines converted into group content at the end. Hated it on WoW, hated it when they did it on SWTOR with the Dread Masters and the Shroud and Dread Seeds storylines.

So I'm also very much hoping they don't go there again.

Now this post from Eric Musco just made my day! And I believe it will make many others here happy too, considering what we were just talking about above!

Please Consider Adding a Solo Version of Forged Alliances | 10.06.2014, 05:21 PM

EDIT: And no rewards/drops of any special significance, obviously

Thank you!
Funny you should mention that, we are actually going to do that very thing! It is really important as we head into Shadow of Revan that players have seen the Forged Alliances storyline. Although we will certainly never force you through it, we want to make it so that if you haven't played through it, you have an opportunity to see the whole storyline, even by yourself if you choose!

^ I'm not sure I understand. Are they going to bump down the level of the Forged Alliances FPs so a player can solo them?

I believe they're making a solo version, probably with smaller groups of mobs and weaker bosses.

Only if they throw lightning right after. It just all starts to remind me bit too much of WoW in terms of.. "Haaa.. We'll have a truce. We must work together...*2 mins later* Haaa, we're actually bloodthirsty morons, screw working together. Kill kill kill. Oh wait new enemy, team up!"

Its tempting to buy the expansion, only for the fact that I can just play those stories again without having to do all the side content.

But I shouldn't give in to temptation!

^ That's what I've been thinking as well, but if I did that I'll be done with the game for my past in 2-3 weeks. As soon as all the class storylines are done, I have no more reason to play the game.

I find myself replaying class stories from time to time and I'm more invested in running Ops as well to level up my gear.

The game for me, seems far too unstable to do any kind of serious gearing. Just enjoying the story while I can, tend to record them so I don't have to replay it and that's it, next class.

The good news is that we're getting something unique to each class again with the upcoming expansion.

The SoR storyline will have one unique mission that'll be different for each class:

For the most part, yes, what you will play is one singular storyline which is being told from two different sides, as player-characters of both factions have the same goals in the storyline (as in Forged Alliances). Additionally, each player class will be given one unique Class Story Mission as part of the storyline; these are entirely different from one another.

Thanks!

Not quite as good as having 8 different Class stories, but it should add some variety to playing the new storyline on each class. Hopefully with enough different dialogues across the rest of the missions to give it more replayability than Makeb.
As for the gearing issue, Melrache, I assume you mean you don't find it worth it because it'll be outdated at some point anyway? Or do you mean you're experiencing actual game performance issues?

I'm creating a marauder. What spec would you recommend? Annihilation, carnage, rage, or hybrid?

Rage is fun, but it's not very viable.

I use Annihilation which is all about DOTS, where as Carnage is more burst DPS, but from what I've heard you really have to know your rotation so you can proc your best abilities.  Have yet to try hybrid (not that it will matter after they release the expac and change the skills anyways).

Yep, mine's annihilation too. Pretty solid spec.

Lvling and PVE wise Annihilation is the best spec, especially after it received several buffs during recent patches.

I wouldn't advise marauder in hybrid because the skill trees don't synergize well with each other. Rage is useful if you are doing dailys since it provides the biggest AOE dmg overall so you can just one shoot multiple mobs.

Really?

Rage was all the rage back during launch...

I also hear they finally balanced the shadow/assassin tanks of epic DPS. It was a bit crazy how much damage you could do as a tank back then. It really negated getting a tank from the other classes, and when I was still a healer my guild demanded Shadow tanks.

We rarely completed a raid, but it sure as hell was not because our healers were bad.

I actually really enjoyed rage, but I for the life of me could never get smash to proc (then again, I'm not very good). But as annihilation, dat bleed damage and self heals.

With KOTOR having released on GOG I wonder if anyone knows of any mods like TSLRCM that are simply a must have.

I was in love with SWtOR since launch but I think I'll be quitting it now.  I'm not liking the change to the trees.  It's exactly the same thing WoW did to trees and I left that game over it after playing for 5 1/2 years.  Makes me sad.  I'm going to miss playing as I loved the class stories and the companions.  :(

You mean the discipline system? From what little I've seen it seems as if they're oversimplifying the system.

I do mean exactly that.  The "we're giving you less choices in leveling up to make learning your class easier" system, yes.  They also claim it will encourage people to spec differently but I don't understand how having less stuff to choose from is supposed to encourage people to not spec the same.  I didn't like it in WoW, I don't like it here.  And they were doing so much right :(

I suppose they think they're shaking things up since nowadays people can easily check a guide to build a dps, tank, or healer. However, this really only stifles originality in builds since they're predetermined. People who want to dps, tank, or heal, for Ops will always end up following the same tested builds regardless of the system in place.

You are right.  People are still going to find "cookie cutter" builds that work the best.  And imo, less choice in building or customizing your character is never a good thing.  That's why I've decided to stop playing.

I will miss you, Vector.
