The problem with old trees was that they allowed for different hybrid builds which were never balanced or accounted for by the devs. This made the job of balancing classes hard and forced them to move key abilities further up the tree, in order to deny the hybrids access to them.

The new skill chains, while linear, eliminate this problem and let you get your key abilities much sooner. This, in turn, allows you to learn the proper rotation for your spec from the start, instead of having to wait as long as lvl 45.

As for new storyline in SoR, I hope it'll be solo friendly like Rise of the Hutt Cartel was. If not, then at least give us a tactical flashpoint for a finale. I never liked having to do operations to see the end of the story and I never intend to.

Even though the skill trees are now more linear im glad they went that route. It was stated several times how devs dislike hybrids and i don't blame them.

If they wouldn't change anything and just allow us to put extra 5 more points in trees some classes would become broken and impossible to balance.

Odds are the finale will consist of the new Ops they're introducing but I could be wrong.

It doesn't look all that bad to me. You have to pick 7 abilities from a list of 21. And all of them seem pretty useful.

The only things you're skipping are basically the passives, but it's pretty much what the devs have already stated - they're giving you the ones you'll be picking anyway, the ones everyone picks because they're pretty much mandatory if you don't want your build to suck (in other words, there's only the illusion of choice there).

Well, RotHC also introduced a new Ops, but it wasn't used as a finale for main story line, so I'm hopeful.

Right now, all kinds of info are floating about, some going as far as saying that you can choose whether you want to finish the story in a tactical flashpoint or an Ops.

Personally, I believe the story should be easily accessible to everyone, regardless of their playstyle or the type of endgame content that they enjoy.

Oh, I agree that the story should be accessible to anyone who's keen on playing it solo. I have seen many people over at the SWTOR.com forums make the argument that "this is an MMO so tough luck" but, for an MMO, SWTOR has a vast amount of solo content. It is true that locking story content behind an Op or two may encourage people to "be more social" (at least insofar as joining an Ops group) but I strongly believe this should be a choice rather than an imposition. In any case, the devs have confirmed that, for instance, with the implementation of 3.0 people who so wish it will be able to solo the 'Forged Alliances' story-arc (probably by including some kind of story mode option), what strengthens the case that the finale won't be locked behind an ops. Alternatively, devs can introduce an easier Ops mode for solo players that doesn't reward SM or HM loot.

Well, I suppose some people will like the change. I, for one, do not.  There shouldn't be a problem with people wanting to play hybrids. I just feel like so many mmos are taking away so much customization of builds away.  I didn't like how GW2 took away the tank/dps/healer stuff either.

Maybe it's because I'm just too old to like change anymore. But that is just my opinion and I realize not everyone will agree, and that's okay.  But it is for this reason that I have stopped playing.

As excited as I was for the finish of the story and how much I loved all the stuff they had done up till now I just don't have any desire to play it anymore.  It makes me sad, I really loved swtor :(

I'm on The Red Eclipse. I have every class imaginable but currently I'm mostly playing Republic with my Watchman and Vanguard.

I'm not too big of a fan of the change either. Personally, I'd recommend waiting and seeing how it turns out before doing anything.

Hmm... Difficult to say. I've only played it with the Knight so far since it's probably the one that makes the most sense (I have a hard time figuring out how the Emperor's Wrath would play out). You basically have two planets, Rishi and Yavin, but Yavin's way smaller than Rishi in terms of content. You get a short class quest in Rishi, plus you get better armour than Makeb simply through doing the quests (I think it's 170+). In terms of story, it's probably on the short side, can't recall if I played more than 8 hours, and, personally, it was ultimately unsatisfying for reasons connected to the Knight's class quest and also because explanations are hard to come by. In any case, it added at least a couple of FPs and two additional raids. If you're starting SOR at level 55, you can easily get to level 60 by the time you reach Yavin. While FPs are necessary to progress the story they've added a solo mode for every flashpoint of the Revan storyline (including Forged Alliances) so you needn't wait for a team.

The fool (me) that pre-ordered and bought the Collector's Edition agrees, I've never seen a Collector's Edition of anything decline in value as quickly. >_<

The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural was the only thing really worth having (other than the game, which is now free...) in my opinion, even the Darth Malgus statue looks and feels fairly cheap. The box all the stuff came in was cool looking, I'll give them that.

SWTOR has rolled out patch 3.0.2. Here are the details:

http://www.swtor.com...0.2-patch-notes

The bad news is that getting ultimate comms will take longer than before. The only raids that now give ultimate comms are the two new ones plus DF/DP NiM.

Enjoy this new addition that I certainly didn't ask for. <_<

Why they "fix" this instead of actual bugs is beyond me.

In my books, Galactic Starfighter shines as the  only truly awesome portion of the game. It is surprisingly great deal of fun.

Ignoring boring stuff like great RP guilds and awesome  people I really like, GSF  is the only thing that keeps me playing.  Besides Rps and occasional GTN things, it is all I do on any of my characters.

I find it absolutely insane they actually released an expansion where the  beef is this six hour long, perfectly half decent storyline. Have these people never played MMos? Story matters for six hours. Then it stops mattering. Why invest so heavily on it. wtf.

Basically, most of SW:TOR is a 200 million dollar costing  waiting room for GSF.

GSF on the other hand is a creation done with budget allowing two hamburgers and discount ticket to Subway by one single dev. Crazy world hu.

I logged in but I'm pretty annoyed by having so many abilities.

I'm not asking for the consolized 8ish slot single action bar that games have been getting in recent years, but omg I can't even fit my abilities on 3-4 full bars. Ew...

I just got annoyed and logged off after trying to figure things out. I'm about as opposite to a theorycrafter as you can find.

I played the game, I'm at level 60 right now. Collected holocrons and my attributes decreased. Submitted a bug report
