Probably yeah. I'm playing it for the story alone. The fact that you need to genuinely plan out your game so you don't have to grind is a pain in the goddamn ass. Thankfully it does start to die out a bit with your second character where you abuse the legacy system so you are consistently OP.

 

There's the 12x XP boost now so you can skip a lot of side content. Without that, if takes a while, sure, but if you do all the side quests plus the story content you're bound to be OP by the time you get to the end. I even skipped a few bonus series because I was way above their level. Now, once you get to level 55, getting to 60 is a walk in the park. Just do Rishi and Yavin and you're good to go. I would still recommend doing Ziost for the level 190 gear, plus the Yavin weekly for companion gear (you can get mains for defeating Revan on Yavin and offhand defeating the Krell dragon on Rishi).

I'm only a preferred. Largely due to hating the idea of subscription models in general. I've played and finished the 2 expansions. Level 50 to 60 is ridiculously quick.

That is a common complaint i've seen in the chat box. Where high level players are stuck in low level areas because their gear is ****.

Apparently you get more basic commendations to make up for it though. Maybe they don't give out enough or something.

I leveled till Corellia with one of my new toons and don't have any problems with the gear yet. Once thing is for certain: it definitely works better then the simple "just take 12x more xp and be done with it" approach from last fall.

They give you 12 comms for most class missions, so I haven't had many issues with gear. But I also havr many other toons with basic comms that they don't need.

My guild does raids, yes. I'm not just into the game enough to set up/be part of much stuff.

 

I'm not subbed currently and not in a place to care much about getting passes.

Mh...I am not the only one who thought of this being an entirely different franchise at first, am I? Can't recall SW-universe doing old-school shields, anyway.

 

Not that this is a bad thing, in any way. The summary of what the expac got to offer does sound intriguing.* I'd be curious as to the pricing for non-subs, however.

I am in much the same boat on this, and find it rather curious that with the new expansion there wouldn't come additional gimmicks for preferred players' accounts. Like a higher limit on credits, say. I'd welcome if something toward that effect were announced leading up to the release.

 

 

*PS: At the same time, all things that would be grand to have for an SP-title in the Old Republic-'verse - I know, I know, we talked about this before...

IIRC at least the very first Flashpoints for both the Empire and Republic grant approval* if you've got your companions with, so you could grind the standard versions of those solo?

I'm only 1/3-1/2 through my companions' affection levels, I'm finishing Makeb (not buying SoR presently) and don't feel like grinding low level flashpoints, so I'll just buy strong gifts from the GTN over time.
