So I guess doing Oricon now has made my character skip story content I wasn't aware about in certain Operations -- Oh well. Is there a brief summary for how all of it fits in "chronologically"?

I laid out a list in an earlier page, but:

Bolded are the most Dread Mastery content AFAIK. I don't know for sure.

-Lv 50 original story (planets ending in Corellia and the conclusion of class story and Ilum, Bonus Series, Battle of Ilum and False Emperor flashpoints, dailies in Corellia and Ilum)

-Lv 50 original operations (Eternity Vault and Karagga's Palace)

-Lv 50 advanced content (Kaon Under Siege and Lost Island flashpoints, Explosive Conflict and Terror from Beyond operations, Section X dailies and HK-51 questline)

-Lv 55 original story (Makeb and its Bonus series, Toborro's Courtyard and Scum and Villainy operations)

-Lv 55 advanced content (CZ-198 and its dailies and Czerka Corporate Labs and Core Meltdown flashpoints, Oricon and its dailies and Dread Fortress and Dread Palace operations)

Basically, Dread Masters, outside of whatever bits about them in the class stories (I think one character releases them or something? I dunno), is a story 'layer' that happens almost totally for endgame players. They're the bigger 'endgame evil threat' before Shadow of Revan, and have their hands in many of the operations, even before Oricon.

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, and if I didn't actually answer your question, I apologize.

EDIT: Oh right, the Seeker Droid questline (Lv 55) is a big deal too.

1. Imperial planetary questline on Belsavis (level 41-44): the Dread Masters, ancient and very powerful Sith who have a thing for fear, are freed from depths of Belsavis prison
2. Jedi Knight class storyline on Dromund Kaas (level 50): the Sith Emperor is defeated and forced to retreat into a shadow of himself, opening up a leadership vacuum at the top of the Empire
3. Operation: Eternity Vault (level 50): Ancient Rakata prison on Belsavis is opened and its inhabitants must be defeated; Imperial Reclamation Service suspects foul play of some kind, but is unable to prove anything
4. Operation: Karagga's Palace (level 50): Hutt Cartel invades nearby Imperial and Republic worlds, sparking reprisals that lead to the death of the Supreme Mogul Karagga; Karagga's private datapad, confiscated by the Imperials, reveals that the Hutts were responding to mysterious aggression by an unknown fourth party
5. Operation: Explosive Conflict (level 50): Republic mercenary condottiere Kephess breaks ties with Coruscant and assumes control of all Imperial and Republic forces on the world of Denova, setting himself up as a tinpot dictator; after being defeated by an Imp or Pub strike force, the Dread Masters reveal themselves as the ultimate puppeteers behind Kephess's betrayal (and, presumably, the EV and KP ops as well)
6. Daily Area: Section X (level 50): the Dread Masters openly attack Imperial forces and mess around looking for the usual Rakata artifacts on Belsavis, along with a bunch of HK series assassin droids
7. Operation: Terror From Beyond (originally level 50, now level 55): the Gree world of Asation comes under attack from Dread forces and they call for aid; the Dread Guard, along with a resurrected Kephess, apparently invaded in order to open up a Gree hypergate to admit the eponymous Terror into the galaxy and cause unparalleled destruction
8. Seeker Droid questline (level 53-55): a group of Dread Guard led by Lord Tagriss attempt to plant Seeds of Rage, alchemical Sith constructs that corrupt entire planets and populations, all across the galaxy, before being defeated by Imps or Pubs
9. Operation: Scum and Villainy (level 55): dozens of mercenary outfits from across the galaxy congregate on Darvannis in response to a Hutt summons, apparently to create a Hutt army to menace vast reaches of space; upon Imp (or Pub) intervention, the mercenaries are revealed to have been gathered by Dread Master Styrak, who attacks the strike force and is killed

...and that brings you up to Oricon.

Think I'll just go from Oricon and onwards, then do the other stuff on another character or some other time, whenever -- That way I can try to focus on the Revan related content.

Yeah honestly doing some of the pre-Oricon DM content only changes like a few lines, if memory serves - referencing what happened on Darvannis, IIRC - and it's really not a big deal.

SW is important too since it proves the Emperor did not die which can be brought up to the Dread Masters. (only a few people before SoR knew the truth about the Emperor in the empire)

Yeah, for the Dread Masters, I had no knowledge of them, apart from the Belsavis planetary quest where you free them. Then once I started getting more characters to 55 someone told me Oricon is where you get the good non-raid gear at the time. Once I got there I treated it like Ilum- yet again some third enemy arises in true Bigger Jaws fashion that we have to fight. All those other events they're said to have manipulated look interesting but don't seem to be required to make a coherent story. I played the story lines until the Ops and then stopped because ain't nobody got time for that ****. The few times I tried to que on GF when they came around never popped so now I don't bother.

For me who is a active raider, I did all the FPs and OPs plenty of times so I got a enjoyable story but for others who never did say S&V or had no idea it was a thing and then go to Oricon and it's like "yeah a Dread Master was killed already", it can be jarring. This is the general problem with MMOs. You can't detach stories from OPs, but you must be careful to with what you tie to them. WoW and TOR tie alot of important plot elements to their Ops and flashpoints where if you don't play this content, you will be confused.

That's why it's been suggested to include a Story Mode for all story-relevant operations, similar to what they did with Forged Alliances. I don't know if or when they'll implement it though.

You can't. Flashpoints are one thing(and they will be doing that) but for Ops? Too many OPs bosses NEED 8 people, or at least over 4 people. Bioware would need to redesign every boss in the OPs to just be a tank and spank AND for certain OPs like Dread Fortress level design to be changed. That will not happen.

It wouldn't be easy, I agree, but it's not impossible. The question is whether BioWare will consider it worth their while to do it.

Redesigning all bosses and level design is just too much work. At best Bioware CAN design future OPs to be like Temple of Sacrifice (you do the OP or you do side quests to continue the story)

And give up the ability to sell people multiple of those overpriced ops passes? They would never do that.

Why not? It's not as if the solo mode would give you the same rewards. If you want the cool pieces of armour, you'll still need to play it in an Ops group. But I agree with House it's far more likely they'll just do the same as they did with Yavin.

I can see Bioware making solo/small party story versions of the Lv 50/55/60 ops. Certainly. Just as I can imagine a continuing streamlining of how the Lv 1-60 story and questing gameplay is designed.

But not this year and possibly not next year.

Back to KotFE and the latest trailer, can you imagine the scene where the Emperor tells you he'll share everything with you if you just kneel, and you do so, and then it cuts to credits?

I don't know why, that image just popped into my mind and I found it hilarious. As if your PC were saying, "F*** this s**t, I ain't becoming no Outlander and fighting another god-damned war. I want to rule the galaxy!"

I can't. OP bosses are not like flashpoint bosses where you can just mess around with health and damage outputs. Some bosses have extremely complex mechanics that require 8 people (Operator X in TfB is one big example)
