If by streamlining you mean making gearing better and less of a hassle and less com grinding, sure.

I don't see the issue at all, it makes gearing and datacrons better. If I see a mod that gives me more power or surge I can't use it because of the main stat, I will be able to now. It will also entice people to get the datacrons where right now at best people will just get their main stat ones.
I think it will be easier for new players too, particularly those aren't used to MMOs but were drawn to TOR because of Star Wars fandom. I've lost count of the times I've seen players running around with characters geared with the wrong primary stats for their class.

That is indeed what streamlining is, yes.

If you want to grind operations for even the slightest chance to get a token every week or pay outrageous creds for certain stuff (that for a warrior can not be bought with coms)then be my guess.
Because I've been doing that for ages and it's not fun and games are meant to be fun.

It's possible I might misunderstand something about what they are changing, anyway as for games being fun -- Well, games are supposed to be a lot of things for different people, your idea of fun might be someone elses nightmare etc.
How about we put it like this since I don't know all the details.
What's the difference here with them cramming all stats into one category from what Bethesda has been doing with their games of recent years, or even BioWare with Dragon Age Inquisition?
I like stats, I like building a character based on different traits, it's part of the character's identity, granted that stats aren't quite as personal in MMOs as in your average single player RPG -- So, enlighten me here. What is the deal then?

I was aware of that? I mentioned several reasons for why I collect them. Achievements also grant cartel coins and collecting them all grants an achievement (did not mention that first) but I also mentioned the unlockable lore associated to them.
It's no less a waste than going after achievements or trophies in any other game.. only you actually get rewarded a bit in-game too.
Alright then.

That will change in KoFE with all main stats become one, Bioware is also looking into Legacy wide datacrons so find all the stat one while you can, you'll need them.
Legacy wide datacrons sound appealing. I'll collect them when thats in place.
Otherwise I'm not gonna bother.

As for the whole 'hunting great gear' -- Well, like I said about Saints Row 3 back when that game was released. A game needs a sense of progression, and I feel that with a game like Saints Row 3, where all the best and fun toys are granted to you in the first 20 minutes of the game it loses that feeling. Dressing yourself in outrageous clothing is now the norm rather than the exception. I won't appreciate my super-car, before I've navigated the city in a shopping trolly for a while-- There needs to be some encouragement and challenge for the player in order to get the crazy stuff (an appreciation for value, if you will) while still keeping the player engaged enough to pursue them.
I don't like grinding too much for gear either, but there should always be a certain amount of stretch before you can unlock it. So, if they are gonna streamline that then I suppose it's fine as long as it's not flat out handed out to you.

Because stats like critical are useless as a small number of AC use it at all, everyone else uses surge and alacrity, the problem is Bioware puts critcal on classes who don't even need (mara being a good example) So any stats with alacrity has to be gotten from another class but surprise, you'll then gimp your self to get the desired alacrity. You're only alternative is to grind raids for weeks on end with hope you'll get tokens to get gear that not only has your primary stat but crit comes out in ful force and you lose accuracy now. Critical is also being grouped with surge because Bioware knows that stat is pretty dam useless and giving other classes this stat is pointless, so it's merged with surge. All four main stats being one also entices players to now get those datacrons which right now, alot of players simply don't want to be arsed.
The thing is this, single player rpgs are not the same as an MMO, you need optimal stats if you want to do the content or you will be kicked from groups, so anything that hampers the players character will be met with vocal outcry. Single player RPG is different, because you can screw around with stats all you want, create horrible builds and it only impacts you, in MMOs it impacts the group.

This would work, if certain classes like mara didn't get bombard with a useless stat (crit) where other classes have access to alacrity on their com gear, maras only get it in token. Alacrity is useful for maras, so we are being gimped and ou only hope is a 1% of getting a token which might be won by someone who does not even need it and they are selfish gits.

Alacrity is useful for maras? I thought it was only really useful for sorcs and healer companions.

It's useful for alot of classes in fact. It just does not shorten channels, it also makes cooldowns faster. Because of the small gore window, alacrity is very good for maras now,m ore so with Berserk.

Decided to do Taral V FP and first time I've had to wait over 15 minutes for it to find a group with my tank (still in queue). And this is supposed to be the most populace EU server.
Meh, might as well watch JoJo while I wait.
