It could also be an interesting story if Varric thinks Bianca is dead, but moves on with the Inquisitor only to find out that Bianca is still alive.  It puts some tension in the story and adds an interesting twist to Carth Syndrome.

And why is everyone talking about Carth syndrome? I didn't get that Carth vibe from Varric at all in DA2.

Actually, I'm quite positive about Varric being a romance this time around - He had lots of fans in DA2 and looks sexier than ever in the trailer.

Please don't crush my hopes Bioware!

Act 3 Questline: where we save flesh-and-blood Bianca from the Carta only to have Varric look at her, look at the crossbow, look at her, then run away hugging the bow and giggling while "real" Bianca stands there confused and Snarkyquisitor says something uncomfortable.

I'm sorry for that, but my female dwarf was vaguely terrified of romancing Alistair. He was a big guy! IMO, size does matter. At least a little.

News to me! Well, if they have the time/resources etc. then more power to them. Hope they have a playable female Qunari option, if so. I detest playing male...

Anyway, dwarf LIs. It would be fresh and new, since they have never offered us one before.

According to this fandom, after all, there needs to be justification as to why a character can't be romanced... otherwise they are being unreasonably and even maliciously kept from the fans. So I'm pretty certain that if Varric is romanceable, there will be people overjoyed to hear it... and if he's not, it will be evidence of an anti-dwarf conspiracy by the racist writers.
