Yeah, why romance dwarves in fantasy games when you can romance dwarves in real life instead!

Dwarfism exists in real life my friend.

...I know. That was the point.

There's even a romance where you can romance a sister of the Chantry. There's a critical decision at the end of this romance arc, which is that the PC has to convince the sister to turn her back on the Chantry or support her decision to remain a sister. In either case, she turns down the PC, and the Chantry she worships at just happens to be the one that Anders bombs. A great tie-in to the rest of the DA series, if I do say so myself.

Of course!

Then of course there is the dangerous desire demon romance.

She starts out extremely Tsundere towards your character, and switches to Yandere if you give her the right gifts.

If you cheat on her or fail to invite her to the big dance you get a bad end.

So, if you cheat on her, she kidnaps your waifu, assumes her form, and if you're romance meter isn't high enough for your current waifu, you would be unable to tell that the person you are w/ is an impostor?

Oh no no no! You see thats an evil infiltrator from Demon High that kidnaps your waifu.

This one is just violently devoted to/possessive of you. She kills the other waifu and then brainwashes you into loving her forever if you cheat.

If only a few players do the romances why have them at all.
An overly optimistic player on another thread accused me of blind pessimism and fearmongering because of comments about the DAI romances.
Nice to know my comments won't cause DAI to be a failure.
Rotfl. I believe romances make the game more.
Ultimately DA is about Dragon Age not romances .
Quantic Dreams games that have romances are about serial killers and the supernatural .
CDprojekts games.....well I haven't played those so I can't say if the sex is a major focus or not.
There are a Japanese pc games which are not hentai where romance is the major focus but it's not hidden and you know that going in.
I consider myself a mancer but I wouldn't buy a game just for romances .
It has to be a quality game based on something else that interest me.

Alright. Got it!

That's a pretty chilling romance. I'm sure there will be threads w/ thousands of pages discussing this and wondering if the PC is truly happy despite being brainwashed, or actually cares.

Hawke attempting to romance Aveline but being unable to, was quite quite interesting. if she was a romance, she'd probably be the sanest but most imtimidating of them all. Most of the other of romance options have a sense of gentleness yet completely insane. But overall it was probably a good idea to not let Aveline be a romance option and have her seek her own person out.

I wasn't being 'overly optimistic'.

David Gaider has stated before that they plan on keeping the romance content in future games about equal with what we have seen before. No more, no less. I just believe that what he said was true.

There is no need to get upset and think that they will be removing content based on a single line or two in an article. Mass Effect 3 may have increased my cynicism with regard to pre-release statements, but from my experience the Dragon Age writers have always been upfront and honest in their posts. Even if they like to feast on our tears ;)

To be fair if the PC doesn't cheat on her they end up very happy together, they end up going on a massive romantic crime spree, evading armies and outfighting templars for years.

This is one of the games three golden endings and it requires exactly 9001 affection.

Real life romances have better climaxes than the BW ones too.

They're infinitely more realistic.

I always found everyone hitting on my Dwarven warden to be weird. It just made me uncomfortable, like they have a small person fetish or something.

But then wouldn't you be worried that your dwarven Warden thought herself unattractive and all humans are racist?

Having Alistair and Zevran oogle me like I'm some sort of delicious petite candy was worse. So yes, I feel as though racism would be far more believable.

You seemed more upset than I was EJ.
I did take offense at some of the things you said.
We have the examples of ME3 and DA2 to prove Bioware doesn't always keep their promises.
Nothing personal against the Bioware staff. The game is in a pre Alpha stage and things can change.
Their promises are not set in concrete.
One writer for an online gaming mag expressed surprise that Gaider isn't enamored of the romances .
Bioware claims only a small percentage of the players even bothered with the romances which surprised me.
I had assumed most players did them or why bother putting them in the game at all ?
Regardless of our differing interpretation of what was said in the GI update, whether it be in DAI or the game after that cutting back on deemphasing or what ever you want to call it seems to be on its way and the players who like romances will have to accept the changes or look elsewhere.

"The fun is charging into battle wielding a sword longer than you are tall"

If you were a true dwarf fan you would know dwarves don't use silly elf weapons like silly swords. e use AXES. And, hammers. And, crossbows if we have to go the cowardly way and kill our enemies from afar.

Too many fake dwarves around these parts. :(

So if anyone likes a person who isn't conventionally attractive that means he/she has a weird fetish.

Well with Zevran at least, he is a sexual deviant.

Nah, I'd have no problem with a guy dating a dwarf height woman in real life. It is more that I find it to be a really odd thing in the Dragon Age universe because they're different species with completely different ways of thinking. It just doesn't strike me as believeable that both Alistair and Zevran would be open to a relationship with a Dwarf.
