See that's the sad thing, my inner bomb throwing revolutionary wants to support the mages.

But my logical side looks at Enchantbot01 and the like and screams TEMPLARS!

As a compromise I've decided to become an extreme moderate.

As a moderate extremist, I'll tell you what we need. We need some sort of being that can cancel magic. Anytime these people get near a mage, a mage is unable to perform magic; the mages would be just like everyone else around these "blanks," as they shall be called.

The Empra approves of this.

I think there is confusion over what Anders complains to Hawke about. Rogue Templars harassed Anders that one time and the Warden Commander settled that (or didn't).

The other people that gave Anders a hard time and took away his cat (his FREAKIN CAT, the MONSTERS!) were..... drum roll... the Grey Wardens! Anders was harassed by Grey Wardens. Then he came to Kirkwall.... and then took a ride on the crazy train.

I realize what happened. Raijen is claiming that Templar oppression/harrassment/whatever is what caused Anders to merge with Justice (in his/her own words, Anders wouldn't do that for "no reason"), when that's flat out untrue. Anders merged with Justice because he supposedly saw the plight of OTHER mages, not himself.

Anders was not getting harassed by the Grey Wardens. He wanted out and therefor found a city, Kirkwall, that doesn't have a command post nearby. He also went to Kirkwall to aid a Mage friend in his escape from the Gallows with the help of Hawke and his crew. The Rite of Tranquility should never be used as a form of punishment, and the Rite was illegally used when Karl was made Tranquil. Just show you just how brutal the Templars can get... and Mages are cast down on when they use blood magic.

Mages are consistently getting harassed by the Templars with a big ego over their shoulders thinking that the only thing that matters is that they have a big sword attached to their backs, and therefor thinking that they're more superior.

Anders: Nice day to be planning a trip into the Deep Roads, don't you think?
Anders: The Blight, the dampness, the festering darkness filled with tainted rats...
Carver: Shut up.
Anders: You've got a real chip on your shoulder, you know?
Carver: I've got a big blade on my shoulder, magey.
Anders: Right. Wonder what you're compensating for.

Adding on to what you said.

If you read Anders short story that takes place before DA2 but after Awakening, you'll see that the templars never stopped leaving him alone. The chantry raised a fuss and a templar ended up joining the Grey Wardens, and then that templar/warden spent his entire time hounding Anders, taking his duties as a templar as a priority over his new duty as a Grey Warden, ultimately leading him to trying to ambush Anders. Anders fused with Justice and killed him and the others who joined him in the ambush, then Anders fled the Grey Wardens.

Honestly, the Templar/Chantry approach to magic and mages are hypocritical to say the least . Templars and Chantry treat mages like how humans treat elves:- With a slave mentality. They put mages through crappy tests for no reason , impose themselves on mages as though they have the right,  make them Tranquil as they see fit....But they will happily take all the potions, salves, runes and enchanter weaponry the Circle of Magi makes..

Yes we can argue about blood mages for hours on end but are they really different from other tyrants, despots, killers ? If not then why have a police force to monitor, harrass and oppress just mages ?

I suppose this all hearkens back to the religion..the Chantry...Who claims that it is the hubris of men that unleashed darkspawn and corrupted heaven.....With which came the unnecessary need to police mages

When no one has an actual proof of this...Yes we have seen the Urn of Sacred Ashes and Corypheus but do we really know those ashes are Andraste's or maybe some magical item of some sort..If it is the ashes of someone then it must be the ashes of a powerful spirit healer (because of the strong restorative properties)....& Corypheus' ramblings tell a different story entirely...

All Templars in my Inquisition will receive an ultimatum from my Inquisitor..especially the mage one...To stop policing mages or be killed / made as cannon fodder....

Mages as well as everyone else in Thedas under my Inquisition will have a their freedom to mind their own business and to live their lives....Anyone who tries unncessary policing out of unproven myths are killed....Yes that includes blood mages and Templars...

As for the Chantry....as an Inquisitor ....I want to find the truth....The Dalish tell a different tale, the Primeval Thaig tell a different tale, both Chantries tell a different tale, the Qun tells a different tale....Then there's the darkspawn...

If the truth that I find is in opposition or contradicts the Chantry's dogma...Then I will either severly weaken it or destroy it....

Carver can develop the Templar skill without the help of lyrium if he had enough ambition and discipline :)That was explained by Alistair in Orgins:)

Also the Templars should pro mages instead of pro Chantry. The Chantry screws their Templars over by getting them hooked on Lyrum so they can have a tight graps over their leashes. It's no better than the Templars holding a tight leash over a mage through his phylactery. Once the Templar become addicted to the Lyrium they become the Chantries loyal obedient Mabari war hounds. Oh and how the dwarfs profits off  Templars addiction makes it even worst.

So here me out Pro Templars of this threrad... Join us mages and fight against the Chantry. Don't let the Chantry control you too! Let's fight for our freedom. Don't let the Chantry run our lives.

Carver can also become a GW. Does this mean that your Warden Commander and Alistair only care about the swords on their shoulder?

Apologist scum and your propoganda rhetoric. You'd probably forgive mages for murdering kittens and babies if you had a innocent hard working templar to blame first.

Nothing but favoritism based on race.

My Warden Commander is a Mage :) and Alistair is just too busy annoying my Warden with his consent complaining and whining to only care about the swords on his shoulder.

This. If we can make decisons to weaken the Chantry, I hope we can also make decisions to strengthen the Chantry. Both my Warden and my Champion were strong Andrastians and I'd like my Inquisitor to follow the theme.

Let's be honest here....the Chantry is the Roman Catholic Empire of Dragon Age and with that comes all sorts of corruption.Mages are torn from their families, are constantly told how they are monsters and they are a plague to everyone around them. The Chantry attacks anyone who does'nt worship their god and have destroyed countless cultures because of it,anyone who isn't Andrastian is a heretic and are hunted down by the Chantry.

I would'nt shed a tear if they are destroyed and I'm sure their victims would agree.

In order for something to be corrupted, it has to have deviated from the original goal. The Circles functions as they are supposed to.

Hyperbole much?
The only culture the Chantry ever destroyed was that of the Dales and there is plenty of evidence that suggests the elves attacked first and also commited attrocities such as the sacking of Val-Royeaux.

Some Andrastrians are also considered heretics, see Tervinter and those like Leliana, though she keeps hers to herself most of the time.  Catholocism went through a counter-reformation after many followers turned away in the reformation, I expect something similar to happen.  Whether or not it'll be legitimately better, I can't say.

The circles were originally intended to be places of learning where mages can practice their magic without fear, instead they became golden prisons where they are watched by people who are trained to hate them. The Chantry has destroyed not just just the Dales, but tribes are often hunted down simply because they worship another deity.

Not to mention Andraste wanted all religions to be erased so that people would worship the Maker which fits the Chantry's mandate of spreading the Chant to all corners of the world, the problem is they can't do that if people practice other religions so the Chantry wipes them out.

I suspect most people who hate mages are just jealous of the power they wield,it's the same with having a friend who is wealthy and you want what he/she has.
