This sounds so childish.

I for one think they should have a twist on the classic system and have both of them dump your ass if you're playing with two peoples' hearts.

Just my opinion. :S

This.

I would like to see more of it. It just seems odd to me that a companion is shown to have feelings for the PC and when you choose the other LI it's just ignored, forgotten and that companion just goes "la, la. la" and on with his day.

At least some resentment toward the other character would be more natural imo.
I liked it that Anders warned you to be careful with Fenris. It showed he didn't just forget the feelings and conversations of previous chapters like it never happened.

I'd like it better if they resented the PC for not choosing them.

Ooooh, I like that Image IPB

The real problem in DA is that this is all typically done with an air of dishonesty. There isn't really a chance to have that sit down and let's have a poly relationship talk (although I will say that the Morrigan and MWarden talk comes close in DA:O).

That said, I've always thought that this was the deal between Hawke and Isabela.

They never actually have it, which is a major problem. Isabella was assuming things that Surete Hawke didn't agree with at all, and when she meets up with Zevran and says, "Hey, let's have sex!" that was really too far.

Don't assume things about a relationship, Isabella. Better yet, BIOWARE, don't assume that about a relationship.

She's easily avoided in the future, but that's a really annoying (almost offensive) surprise initially.

I always found it odd that Anders*if you told him off* never brings up Hawke saying they didn't want people people thinking that way about them if they romance a character.

Only if they duke it out shirtless while mud wrestling.

In all seriousness, having experienced being "fought" over during my teens it was incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassing and created a rift so God no.

I don't mind the banter like in DA2 (I even recall some heat between Zevran and Alistair, though it was just playful dialogue), but Anders creeping on my Hawke in Act 3 even after getting back with Fenris was a huge turn off.

If you're going to **** around and toy with their feelings, I hope they have the opportunity to burn you right back though.

I don't want a cat fight over the PC, but I'd like the fact that there was once a romance to be acknowledged by some characters after choosing. It's odd when you suddenly have one go straight into friend dialogue. But, really, that is at the very bottom of the list of what I want to see in the game.

I would imagine that it would depend on the character. Some people have too much self respect. Like Ash in Mass Effect. You try to get her AND Liara in ME1, she dumps your ass. Liara, on the other hand, stays. Maybe it was lazy writing? Or maybe Liara was like a schoolgirl with a crush, and was too blinded by that to see that your Shep was a total d-bag.

So I mean, I wouldn't say "yes" or "no" to this. It really depends on what kinds of characters you're toying with. Not that I agree it's a good thing, but it IS a roleplaying game, and if you want to roleplay an assh*le, you should be able to.

Some characters would fight over you. Some would dump you on the spot. Some would put up with pretty much anything you do because they're not seeing the problems. Like real people. We're not all copies of one another.

Never claim to speak for someone, because we all don't have the same thing in mind. I'm more expecting a LI to confront you if you're being faithful. Carfights and firstfights are quite immature. I support the Inquisitor getting dumped if messing with people.

I am pretty sure I speak for everyone when I say that potential love interests should get jealous and fight over you, I was so disappointed when Alistair didn't show his affection for me by punching Zevran in the nose for hitting on his gal but Alistair didn't even challenge Zevran to one duel for my love, instead he was all like "you gotta choose between me and Zevran" and I was all like "whatevs, you can go be Archdemon chow you virgin".

Hopefully this problem is being rectified in Inquisition.

ummm... No you do not speak for me.

If this game becomes 'Dragon Age: Days of Our Lives", I will keep away from 'Dragon Age' forever.

Maybe thats because no sane person would say or act like that to someone they care about.

I also completely disagree with that its selfish with wanting to be with just one person. Wanting to have more people to bang/love sounds actually really selfish and also really needy to me.

Why bother beign in a relationship then in the first place.

-shrug- We're all entitled to our opinions.

I like this idea too, if it suits the character. Repercussions to your choices and all that. I imagine some LIs might put up with it, some might get angry with their rival, and some may leave.

In fact I found Merrill and Isabela's banter, after you had chosen one over the other, to be some of the sweetest and most endearing in the game.  I loved their relationship :)

Even better, can trying to butt in and create a love triangle actually have negative consequences for the ones involved?

A stupid wish for the intent of pure ego-stroking.

I love the banter, but let's not have the Inquisitor becoming the Mary Sue everyone falls for and fights over.

Ugh no.

I want my LI to trust my PC enough to not get into childish squabbles with other team mates simply because said PC is either being friendly or the other companion is flirty by nature.

I know I'm bringing up ME in a DA thread here, but I was hoping for some kind of romance conflict in ME3, especially between Miranda and Ashley. And it would be a lot more than just a conflict over romance, as both of them are also fundamentally different in their idea's, beliefs, and foundations. I'd want to see conflict there, with allusions to the romance brought up if you romanced both of them over the course of the trilogy.

The same could be said for a romance between Morrigan and Lel.
