I have downloaded the Dungeons & Dragons Anthology: The Master Collection.
I have installed them on my second drive with no problem. When I try to run any of the games (except NWN Icewind Dale 1, which does work), I get a message that shows that the game can't detect a 'Valid Video Mode' (or other words to that effect). I have this PC -  tinyurl.com/kememxc which has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 video card.

I'm running Windows 7 Premium Home, and have check marked the Win XP compatibility mode.

Any ideas?

Have you tried running the BGConfig.exe, e.g. in the Baldurs Gate 2 game folder.

Did you install within the program files directory, your configuration settings would then be moved by Windows 7. If so I would suggest you uninstall and re-install to somewhere like c:\\games where Windows will be far less protective and allow the game to change ini files and savegame files without interfering. Try it on Baldurs Gate 2 first to see.

(EDIT: Just seen the comment on 2nd drive so don't believe the program files scenario will affect you as you'll have installed elsewhere).

I don't believe there is a need to run in compatability mode but not certain on that one.

I think, running BGConfig should be enough. Running in compatibility mode is completely unnecessary.

Sorry for the late reply. :)
I can run BGConfig in BG2, but when I get to the Display options, all of the screen resolutions are greyed out and it defaults to 640 x 480. When I click on the 'Test' button, the screen blacks out for a split second and I then get a pop up box titled 'Balders Gate 2 direct x test' with the message -

'Could not set resolution and bit depth'

This happens no matter what I set the hardware settings to, in the config. I have Direct x 11 installed.

Are you able to set your screen resolution to 640 x 480 outside the game? Assuming you can does this help? You could also try setting the number of colours used by your display to the minimum.

At the moment, no. I'm using a 55inch Samsung smart tv as my monitor. :)
It won't go any lower than 1280x720.

Sounds like that could be the problem then as Baldur's Gate 2 didn't officially support resolutions as high as that.

The Widescreen mod can be used to set the game resolution to any value you want - you could try downloading and running that to see if it helps.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. I installed the games on my laptop and the BG 2 Config works as it should. I'll have to do some tinkering around with screens and things, but at least I now know what the problem is.

Thanks for helping Grond0. :)
