Gonna skip the xcom panel for the next two bioware panels including the foray one is on the combat. Will continue to post anything I think you guys might be interested in.

I have a question, when you were watching the demo, did you hear what any of the characters sounded like? Was Brian Bloom doing the voice for Varric? Was the PC voiced, if so was he voiced by a recognisable VA?

Varrick sounded the same. Heard a full conversation between the party. Poor Varrick, always out shone by the ladies...

Asked about longevity concerns with the Keep (cloud saves). Offline capability (don't need access to the keep after starting the game) was a requirement and they're aware of our concerns with servers existing in the future. Also said that a lot of the problems were simply from how buggy origin saves are and bad logic. Flynn said they would try and post some clarifications somewhere.

So... confirmed that for every new playthrough you want to do that has a different world state other than the default needs you to connect directly to the Internet with your PC/console.

Thanks!

Not really. The files are not that big and a one time download would work much better. All they would have to do is download them from a cloud and store the files in a path that corresponds to the character saves.

An actual follower of the Qun just wouldn't work on so many levels.

Why wouldn't a follower of the Qun work?

I suspect the Qunari don't want the Veil to tear open and demons to overwhelm the land.

Well, You would have to forget about having romances.   You couldn't play as a mage unless they are also going to add in your handler.    Not to mention they would have to change nearly all of the player dialog just to have the perspective of a religious zealot.    You would really only ever be able to use the sword you start out with.

Yeah, too many things I think would just make it a pain to implement.   Who knows, though...

Only racial restriction is no dwarven mages, right from the mouths of the devs. They are aware of the lore implications, and implied that the opening sequence will handle it. These are the reasons they did not announce qunari with the rest of the races, they were still dealing with whether the story implications would work.

The official stance on modding is that they cannot speak about it right now, but they are aware of the heavy modding focus and how important it is to the community, and they are trying very hard to make sure it's a possibility. They just don't want to disappoint people by saying one thing and delivering another.

Well, we're not sure if it directly downloads the file, or if it links to the cloud, sets the appropriate flags, then starts the game, without creating an actual file on the system's hard drive.

Plus, if you'd like to use a different set of world state choices than you had used the first time (say you wanted to have Allistair on the throne instead of Anora to see the difference in DA:I), you'd need to create a new file on The Keep and then connect your console to the Internet to access it. Even if you can download the file, you'd need to re-connect to The Keep to start your new playthrough... correct?

Wasn't Vivienne just in line for the position? Do we know why Cass was referring to her as First Enchanter?

a few more notes:

On the whole, the devs are very enthusiastic about the Frostbite engine.

A quote for you speculation freaks: "f*** 5% magic resistance... 25%!!!" from when they were discussing differences between races and that they should be meaningful. And dwarves.

Not able to discuss romances at all at the moment.

Pinkquisition has been confirmed (yes, you can outfit your entire party in pink).

Keep has save data from Origins, DA 2, DLCs, and even the flash game.

It's a good thing that a certain Matt is not in charge of certain things because the qunari would now (after a fan comment during the panel) have headbutt as a racial power... and dwarves would have nut butts.

Since access to the cloud is not going to stop you from playing the game, I really don't think a short, one time internet connection requirement is at all a problem... :?

If they are using dragon age origins files then I would put my money on it being a file due to the structure of the dragon age save. You have the XML story file, character portrait and appearance file in a single save. Actually this brings about the question of is it a web based application that fetches these saves and connects to the keep(this scenario would be heavily needing of a network) the other scenario is having the keep as a one time connection application. In this way the files will be extracted from the internet cloud and stored into a path. The character can then choose which save file they are trying to access. Sorry about that, it is probably a guessing game from now until we get a suitable answer. As for the question I do not know what dragon age team has said but I would reckon the keep application could be developed to counter most of these network scenarios.

Local System Keep
-One time connection
-stores previous data in a certain path on the console system.
-Could even allow transfer of saves through web interface or HDD interface.
-Works without internet.

Cloud System Keep
-Similar to origin's cloud save arhictecture.
-Would require more connection to the internet.
-Could make use of the architecture as a cloud based system.
-Much harder to implement.

These would be my scenarios but I am just an armchair fan of the series.:D

It'll be interesting to see how they integrate playable Qunari. I can't imagine why they'd be called upon to meet and discuss everything else going on in Thedas.

Jesus, Bioware is really pulling out the big guns for this one, aren't they? Good on them for doing so, though the fans do derserve it after the last two games they put out.

My professional opinion is that it is probably an online application with APIs to take in save game files, parse them and add them to a database with logical errors corrected (no more renegade Conrad Verner with paragon Shepard situations?) and an export functionality to appropriate formats.

Soo excited for this even though DA2 left a lot to be desired. Now I"m definatly going to play as a qunari first when I get this game. So far they are slowly staring to restore my faith in Bioware with DAI. I hope it just keeps getting better and the final product will be even better than any of us expect it to be.

I'm so glad to see racial traits are coming back too. The more I'm seeing and hearing the more I'm starting to get hyped over this game. If things keep going this way I might take back the promise I made about not buying another DA game without hearing from plenty of reviewers first.

I was actually kinda hoping for a headbutt/ram ability, haha, qunari seem like they ought to have exceptionally hard skulls given the ram horns and all.

Also, horn lazers for my mage, OBVIOUSLY.

25% magic resistance seems more fitting for the lore of dwarven magic resistance, yeah. 10% is barely noticable.

"It'd violate the license agreement to provide people tools to monkey around with the back end of DICE's creation."

It should be pointed out that unless you work for BIO/EA or DICE and have read the license agreement between the two parties you have no idea if what you wrote is actually true and are just speculating.
