a few more notes, on the whole, the devs are very enthusiastic about the Frostbite engine.

A quote for you speculation freaks: "**** 5% magic resistance... 25%!!!" from when they were discussing differences between races and that they should be meaningful. And dwarves.

Not able to discuss romances at all at the moment.

Pinkquisition has been confirmed.

Keep has save data from Origins, FA 2, DLCs, and even the flash game.

It's a good thing that a certain Matt us not in charge of certain things because the qunari would now (after a fan comment during the panel) have headbutt as a racial power... and dwarves would have nut butts.

I was actually kinda hoping for a headbutt/ram ability, haha, qunari seem like they ought to have exceptionally hard skulls given the ram horns and all.

Also, horn lazers for my mage, OBVIOUSLY.

25% magic resistance seems more fitting for the lore of dwarven magic resistance, yeah. 10% is barely noticable.

I'll take a guess that it'll break down into

Dwarves: 25% magic resist
Qunari: Health/armor bonus
Humans: Attribute bonus
Elves: ... Crit bonus, maybe? I'd guess either crit or nature damage, but the latter would be close to useless for rogues and warriors unless grenades and poisons are just that good.

Racial actives would be cool as hell, but I imagine they'd swing too wildly from absolutely broken to absolutely useless based on class.

I shall partake in no speculation, lol.

eta: the devs said offhandedly that racial powers were considered but not used. that's how they got into the topic of statistical racial bonuses instead, which lead to the bonuses needing to be significant enough to really mean something, which lead to said quote.

Elves will probably have magic and mana/willpower bonuses like before. Probably not overly useful for non-mages, but the lore makes it clear that elves have more magic and sometimes determination than humans, while being physically weaker in every way. I wouldn't mind more critical damage too, since they're also stated to have keener eyes and ears, and so they could better exploit weaknesses. (Maybe a bonus to cunning?)

Elves should still have their magic bonus, I think. Humans could get a skill bonus? (if exploration skills are a thing beyond the brainstorming stage)

There were a  bunch of things on the ground in the demo being highlighted by the cursor, so I'm assuming herbalism is back in its DA:O incarnation.

The video I took is uploading here. It's not good at all - you can't really see much due to the screen getting washed out, so I stopped recording after the opening conversation with your party - but you do get the conversation, and you can see their faces etc. I switched to trying to get screenshots. I'll check through those for any that are worth uploading after I get my pizza out of the oven. Starving here.

And DragonRacer, you can craft your own armor to look how you want. Which means, yes, you can outfit your entire party in pink plate armor. He did say something, though, about not making it easy for you... dem pink dyes might be a bit off the beaten path...

Qunari? I'm surprised, but also curious now. I wonder if they'll allow a female Mage qunari? I may have to make one. :>

A thought for everyone concerned how Qunari lore fits in the role of inquisition (follows Qun, Tal Vashoth, etc).

Based on one of the videos from Gameinformer, it sounded like like the inquisitor wasn't fully trusted because of a suspicious appearance during the opening catastrophe, and being one of the only survivors. The inquisitor then has mystery regarding his/her origins, and may not be bound to traditional lore.

I really got the impression that the inquisitor appeared from nowhere. Perhaps I am wrong, but it would allow you to wave off any hindering lore, and could provide for a big end game reveal. Perhaps the Qunari inquisitor fell from the sky?

As I said above, I will partake in no such speculation.

However, I was chatting with someone about qunari + lore and he said something like, "if they can catch you" ;)

there's a lot of things they have said that I have not mentioned, in fact. Some of which would abso****inglutely blow the BSN's mind.

This is partly why I'm excited to play a female Qunari Mage. Honestly it seems to be the most interesting option given both women's and mage's statuses in the Qun, and in the rest of Thedas. *squee* I can't wait. :>

Awesome news :D

Tactical camera option was one of my biggest worries and if it is in, i feel much more at ease now. And playable quanari, now that was a truly unexpected and pleasant piece of news!!!  :) So cool!

I was earlier of thinking of playing dwarven warrior first, but qunari puts this decision on hold. Sten was one of the best writen bioware character and I'm thrilled to be allowed to play as a qunari and trying to follow QUN philosophy. Now, you've put a big smile on my bearded face  :)

As about custom keeps, they seem to be adding a new layer of strategy into the game. I like it and i would like to hear more about keeps.I expect defend your keep / keep trade route type of missions, building and upgrading keeps, hireing soldiers,  farmers, hunters, traders, mages etc to work on your keeps etc.

I wonder what it actually means to have a keep in certain area? Are there going to be less respawning enemies on the roads because you control that area? Can you lose your keep if you don't upgrade / defend it? Can you harvest gold weekly from keeps treasury if you so decide? Can you keep your own loot in keeps? Are there going to be traders, smiths, alchemists, mages, priests, artisans etc in you keep whose services you can use?

Are there going to be similar quests tied into keep like in bg2 where player acts as a ruling lord of that area and makes rulings about common matters. For example in bg2 there a quest where badits had robbed a merchant who now in turn comes to you asking justice, because robbery happened in your lands.

-The merchant demands reparations for his stolen goods and a guarantee
that such a thing will never happen again. Otherwise, he will stop
travelling through your land, and also foreclose on every farmhold he
holds a debt for.

Now here player could

-Give obviously some gold for the lost goods -> merhant happy and he continues to trade goods with your keep and farms stay open which means that you don't have a growing peasant revolution in your hands
-You can also hire mercenies to patrol on the roads to make areas actually safer around your keep, thus reducing crime and making everyone (farmers and traders etc) happier.
-You could ofcourse refuse to do any of those things which would mean that this merchant would get upset and never return to your lands.  Some farmers would get slghtly upset too naturally.
-And if you were a harsh lord, you could make a ruling that this merchant must be executed at once for trying to threaten you. ;)

Eh. The way I see it, most people already don't like or trust you, so might as well add race onto the pile.

I really got the impression that the inquisitor appeared from nowhere. Perhaps I am wrong, but it would allow you to wave off any hindering lore, and could provide for a big end game reveal. Perhaps the Qunari inquisitor fell from the sky?

I'm sure the Inquisitor appeared from somewhere, it's just not going to be as elaborated on as in Origins and DA2. I think the mistrust just stems from you mysteriously being the only one to survive a catastrophic event that wiped out a whole... I don't know, army? town? And less to do with people not knowing where you're from. Although that could also play a huge factor.

... Actually, come to think of it, the Inquisitor's start in DA3 sounds a wee bit like Loghain's start in DA:O (with obvious differences, of course). Just as Loghain was there when the Blight swallowed up Ostagar and most people in Ferelden said afterwards, "Hmm, how convenient that you and your men were the only ones to survive," the Inquisitor was there when the sky opened and destroyed whatever, and most people are taking the stance of, "Hmm, how convenient that you were the only one to survive."

Personally, any comparison to Loghain makes my gut wrench, but it's a speculation.

Are all these different races going to have a different origin story or something? Seems weird to just be a generic Qunari from nowhere.
