Blonde elf companion?

Seeing as Awakening apparently happens about 2 years after DAO, and DA2 is about... eh, a period of ten years, there is probably a timeskip of about 8 years between Awakening and DA3.
Seeing as Tamlen went crazy with taint in the Dalish origin, Seranni would probably go through immense pain - best case scenario, assuming the Architect is alive AND able to help her, her taint might be... suspended. Next best scenario, Seranni died. Worse case scenario, stuff happened and Seranni mutated into an Elven broodmother and her vagina turned into a star gate.
...In all seriousness, though, Sera seems to be a pretty common name/name element for elves. We have Seranni here, which as the -anni ending, and then there is also Ambassador Cera in DA:A, who is the magi ambassador for the Warden-Commander. Sera's eyes seem pretty cool, though. I wonder if that's going to be the new "elven eyes" in DA3? If that's the case, seems they took some influence from the Elder Scroll series in that area. XD

Awakening happens about six months after Origins, I'm fairly sure. I believe it's Witch Hunt that takes place two years after. And a slight nitpick, exactly TWO examples don't stand as evidence of being a common name element, especially when it's Cera and Sera, or, even more likely, cera and ser. In fact, if you look at the total list of named elves, there doesn't seem to be a given trend for any kind of naming convention.

I actually went through a few different elven names, and I was trying to get some "common name factors" and make some kind of Dragon Age elven name generator for fun. A lot of names use -anni at the end though, like Arianni, Seranni, Shianni, ect.
Considering most people in Thedas are probably illiterate, particularly elves because of their lot in life, I don't think a C or S is the biggest change in the world - I believe Cera pronounced her name with a soft c, though I can't check for sure since my xbox 360 is kapute right now. xD Regardless, a lot of people - in our day and age - still use various spellings for the same name. -shrugs- Either way, be Sera/Cera a common name element or not, I highly doubt Seranni and Sera would be related. If anything, DA:A and DA2 being even farther apart probably support that idea.
Anyways, Sera is probably the companion I'm the most interested in right now. She looks like loads of fun. Iron Bull and the rumored Tevinter mage are right behind her, though.

I was actually thinking that -anni was the most common repeating name element, and wrote as much, but then realized I could only find two examples. I had forgotten about Arianni, but again, it's only three.
A lot of people raise the question of widespread illiteracy in Thedas, but I'm not sure there's much evidence to back this up, especially given how many written notes, ledgers, lists, and letters are in the game. Fenris is the only character I recall being unable to read, but that only speaks to (some) slaves in Tevinter, not all of Thedas.

I think Seranni is a ghoul like Utha (the Silent Sister/ex-Grey Warden who sided with the Architct years ago, and kept her sanity despite the progressing taint). It's likely the Architect already manipulated the taint within her when he infected her. It's possible she'll be leading the sentient darkspawn, if the Architect is dead.

There could be variants on facial features.

I'm hoping that means she's just a trouble maker and not terribly ill-mannered.
Maybe she just has an exceptionally dirty mouth. We haven't really had anyone like that, I guess... :S
Think Ellie.

Wonder if Sera is like her ?
If Sera is a rogue it's an apt comparison .
Obviously you wonder how she ends up joining.
You presume she wants the Inquisitor to help the elves, assuming she is an elf.

I suppose the rift could be the common factor in why all of them join the Inquisitor. Perhaps her goals are entirely different than we might assume if she's a mercurial rogue.

There are a few kinds of brats.
There's the spoiled brat, which you're probably familiar with: the child of rich parents, throws temper-tantrums to get what they want, has never been told "no" in their life, thinks they're above the rules. Usually a woman for about 100 different reasons that all end in "misogyny".
There's also the young person who don't care for authority or following rules, likes to make trouble, talk back, is a mischevious, selfish, irresponsible, unsupervised ruffian. Usually poor, homeless, an orphan, or all three. Can be male or female. Aladdin at the beginning of Aladdin is a brat. If they're the kid sister/brother, they're the Bratty Half-Pint.
Or, a hot dog.
See also: Mouthy Kid. My favorite female character type. Siiiigh.

I hope this Sera is the same.I didn't like those negative comments from that guy. He just came in here to disrupt the conversation .
One of things I liked about the much hated FFX2 was the dresspheres.
Of course I don't expect a characters clothing to give them abilities like in an FF game, but it should be interesting to be able to dress your characters again.
Where are the clothes, armor, and weapons to come from ?
Have they said anything about shops ? Commerce ?
Not much.
Some stuff will no doubt be found in chests, or perhaps acquired through quest.
Looking forward to dressing up Sera.

So she's a puckish rogue....we're getting the boss from SR4?sandalisthemaker wrote...
That may very well be "Sera" from the leaked survey.
If she is, then she is a rogue with a puckish personality that grew up in the thief underground.
*Clarification for those who haven't played SR4: A few times in the story, you get described as a "sociopath" to which your character responds "...I always thought I was more of a 'puckish rogue'" and variations of that.
