Red lyrium making people crazy and reintroduce it. They are taking it because?....Reasons?

I think one thing that was not shown anywhere in DA2 is how powerful lyrium addiction is. The listed side effects from lyrium abuse is obsession, paranoia and dementia. as per this codex entry.

If you forge a sword out of red lyrium then you can make statues come to life, and you can leap 50 meters into the air and land again without taking any damage.

True story.

Lol tactical camera is back so that's a gold star for me. The combat is slower like origins but more present too. I saw the whole demo so I thought it looked amazing. The graphics were awesome, and I don't think they want to spoil the story since it is a year away. You can change combat but I don't think the writers want to change what they think is right for the story. The combat looks like dark souls with party tactics included and that's really cool. The characters look fine and good looking I don't see how it looks poor? Eh, I guess you won't be buying the game then. But hopefully you reconsider...

the combat is not as slow as Origins. Its just not as fast as DA2's.  Its a nice compromise

I don't see how combat is more present than DAO

1. Combat feels too action-y and lacks impact.
2. Story feels neglected.
3. Character design is poor.

Those are valid criticisms. I didn't state them as legitimate issues, because, for now, they're merely my opinion. I don't want to tell Bioware to change an entire game because I myself don't like it.

1.  What kind of combat do you like?  A few game examples please so we can get a point of reference.
2. This is about as non valid of a criticism as one could possibly make....ever.  This is the 1st look at the game, spoilers are avoided, espceailly story spoilers.  To have this as a criticism is silly.
3.  Matter of preference, would have to once again get a point of reference.  What makes them poor?  What games have characters that you really like?

Don't worry dude I too have similar feeling. Especially with the combat. Hopefully they deliver with the tactical gameplay because I have no interest in playing it like an action RPG.

Edit: What is funny though is that OP should have realized he was going to get slammed really hard with these kinds of ridiculous critisims, no whinning/nit-picking.

So because my opinion would be unpopular means I shouldn't have made it? Kay.

Though, I'm still confused as to what your point is. I watched the gameplay, saw everyone commenting how amazing it was, but I wasn't impressed, so I stated just that. I fail to see how making a comment different from "This is great" is whining/nitpicking. I praised the engine, the graphics, the combat fluidity, I just expressed some concerns, which, by now, it seems other people have as well.

We've seen more combat in the demo because they don't want to unveil specific story points. Demonstrating the mechanics of the combat system gets people interested. Explaining details of the story spoils it.

And they are all evil mustache twirlers like Bioware made Cerberus in ME3 which was the worst writing I've encountered in a video game in quite some time

ME3 Cerberus got what they deserve

Deserve had nothing to do with it.

I didn't care for the faction, their ideals, or their leadership but I did care about being inflicted by the bad writing that was Cerberus in ME3. I am not so petty that I will accept a lesser game just to spite a fictional group or their fans.

Ah thank you my good man ;) This game isn't even out yet and it's already better than DA2.

Edit: But i'm still wary and saying this game is better than DA2 isn't saying much lol

Yeah, I've heard that one before. Let's see when was it? That's right ME3 and DA2. I really don't know if I'll buy this game, I'm cautiously optimistic about this game but I share the same opinion that the OP expressed. It looks as if the same thing that came with ME3 is repeating itself again.

I also find it alarming that even after the amount of people who got burned by DA2 and ME3, there are still so many who would throw away their money just because they showed a few videos.

That looks awesome, though I will likely play on console so who knows how the camera will translate there. I will be happy either way.

That woman making orgasm noises during the vid is REALLY annoying though.

They've already said the top-down tactical view will be the same on consoles :)

My point and point that several other posters have posted such as Beerfish is that you are only nitpicking with no backings/references to anything besides the Witcher comment. (Which by the way the only thing they honestly share is the dark fantasy theme and combat is vastly different and little to no customization of Geralt as a character at all) And you are being flat out "THAT GUY", "the party pooper", and or "The Simpsons Comic Book Guy". I will repeat myself and everyone that has stated the exact same thing your comments/critisims have little to no backing, are way too premature, and or just flat out silly. I will give you one thing though at least you are not comparing this to Dragon's Dogma and saying that it is ripping it off like a lot of facebook posts I have been reading for a good laugh.

The reason a lot of use are impressed is because these are pre-alpha videos and they have over a year of development time left. DA2 and ME3 didn't look this good at this stage/point in time.

Well.

Maybe the people who want to "throw away money" don't feel like they got burned? I certainly don't. I like DA2 (cue insulting my tastes) and I have no problem with either ME2 or ME3/extended cut. I like that Bioware tried to break the mold with DA2, I like the framed narrative. It was different than DAO, and it wasn't in production long enough, but I still enjoy it on its own merits.

So no, you don't get the dictate that we are throwing away our money (and what business is our money to you anyway?), and you don't get to declare that we were burned, and thus wasting money. BW is still one of my favorite gaming companies (Blizzard being the other), and yes I am damn excited about Inquisition and will get the game as soon as I can.

The gameplay looks fine to me? O.o

Granted all I've seen was footage of a slow ass Warrior but I just chalked that up to the giant sword. Glad they added a dodge mechanic though; Sitting there auto-attacking an enemy's face without having to worry about any form of brutal retaliation was dull and not all that strategic/skillful. :>

As for character design, I like it so far. Cassandra, Varric and Morrigan all look great.

And how do you know the story is lacking? They only ever show gameplay--I don't want the story spoiled for me during trailers/footage as that is the reason I play DA games. Not saying it may not be lacking, but I haven't seen any indicators of it.

I got hyped for ME3, was a tad disappointed, but it was totally worth it, DAI has erased by biggest concern: it will not be DAO HD, so yeah, it's a certain buy given all that has been show

Well there's some stuff I'm not too fond of , like those bloody shiny texture .
I thought the Inquisitor cape was sometimes made of latex.
The faces looked a bit funny at times , and the water too.
But well the video was not top quality , it's pre alpha , and it's things I can get used to.(except the latex texture , Morrigan dress look also like it's made of latex , it's driving me mad)

It's just details , and overall it's looking great.
Exploration , lore ,my mage won't look stupid anymore ,Varric!
I mean I'm buying this game ,and I'm pretty excited.

Don't agree with making red lyrium such a big part of the game.

Witcher fanboys post like Witcher is like some unique butterfly. It's combat isn't original nor is it even good. DA3 combat looks like DA series combat with some changes. Twitcher is just a hack n slash action game with a lame one dimensional protagnis with no heart or soul.

Twitcher series sucks the big one (though I didn't bother with Twitcher 2 after the horribleness of part 1).

Over a year from release and I find this jewel of a thread? My, two months from release this place is going to be hell. A fun one to watch, but hell all the same.

To OP, not impressed? Well, there's still a year to it. Not impressed by then? Don't buy it, there's Witcher 3 to try out (not my cup of tea, but oh well). Though I do wonder what it'd take to impress you, or what you are expecting to see in the near future.
