What?! You are telling me that you are against the idea of having a magical floating fire book that you go all Merlin over. Beyond that think of the pure defensive bonuses from such a item.
That was a iron bark hard cover 1st edition fire spell book with a Bronto leather casing and Halla horn engravings and I need not tell you that you would be hard pressed to find a shield capable of stopping sword slashes, axe cleaves and arrow shots as well as this pure magnificence of literature.
This is a must have for mages all over Thedas from dark and broody apostates to vibrant Maker worshippers you need not look any further Mister Magics Floating Grimoire Collection.
*ink and feather not included.
Since there's a lot of comparison to Arthur legend. Sure, but I better have a spell to float dishes and have them wash themselves. In reality it doesn't bother me that much. Been working all night and almost time to get off.The floating book was a little surprising though.

It looks cool, no idding but...
Here all my hopes for more realistic combat go away. At least it's still better than DA2's acrobatics

A hovering book is more jarring than summoning giant rocks from the sky?

Those hopes didn't go away when a guy with a shield blocked hits that made walls fall and iron gates crush?

In-Universe it is possible to cast magic. But as long as I know they still haven't discovered levitation yet. The only amge who used such an ability was Velanna.Herr Uhl wrote...

That is not a spell book. Mages are so bad ass in this game they can cast spells while reading war and peace at the same time.

Stonefist lifts up a boulder, holds it and then sends it flying. Force mages have telekenisis. It is not a leap to be able to levitate a book.

It was confirmed to be an enemy, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. It won't likely affect our inquisitor. ^.^
This is the BSN worry is part of the infrastructure around here.
Dragon Age: Origins - "Why are mages forced to staves for ideal casting?"
Dragon Age 2 - "Why are mages limited to staves, Hawke should be attacked for carrying one"
Dragon Age: Inquistion Pre-Alpha - "Why is a mage using a book?, thats dumb"

Now watch how all 3 get fixed all at once:
Staves become non-magical melee weapons that warriors can use as well, while Mages have an option to use regular weapons.
Tadda! All of these complaints are essentially one.
Edit: Oh and of course there is no place for spell books.

There is a difference between levitating a book, reading and casting spells at the same time. Like, badass but since when can they do it?Herr Uhl wrote...

Lifting up a rock and throwing it at the opponent is a quite simple thing
