It's been a year and a half since ME3 released and most everyone has put the ME series to bed. A lot of time has passed and it's been really hard to keep in touch (or want to keep in touch) with the ME universe without hearing something about the next Mass Effect game. By now, it would really be a shot in the arm to hear some preliminary details.

I think there was some twitter activity that they had some initial ideas going a while back and that the work had started.
I have a feeling that an actualy game will take another two years. Maybe more. Unless the go back to a canceled project that's been laying around.

Remember they've got a new engine. They'll have to rebuild most of their assets, and create new ones and all that stuff.
I think they're still in the conception stage. Casey Hudson noted how much "playable aliens" was asked for, so I've really got my hopes up.
