So, here are my thoughts on that:
1) Over a year to a game premiere, so interface can and highly probably is still a prototype. But I don't like it AT ALL. From what I see, it's cold, it lacks character, and sort of just IS, instead of being something a PART of the game itself.
Remember Origins, and fenomenal book, with quests, achievements, etc, covered partially with blood, etc? This is nothing like that anymore. I remember a quote from a developer months ago, he said it's gonna me more like DA2 oraz cross between Origins and DA2. I can't see it happening. Two mixed together?
Anyway, if this idea is wrong and my memory sucks, and there wasn't any idea towards that. As a fan from almost beginning, I respectfully DEMAND quality and a heart from development team. Right now interface is way towards Skyrim. Cold and funtional screens, some statistics, slots for equipment. Wher's the heart in THAT? I didn't play Skyrim, but I saw interface. It was horrible. No character at all, like someone just went to a factory and just curved an item from a blueprint. No personality.
The minimap, this kind a roller in the top of the screen, also as far I can remember, Skyrim inspired. Horrrible! Origins was truly magical BECAUSE of one vision, implemented acroos the project. Don't try to be Skyrim 2, Witcher 2/3, Amalur, etc. Dragon Age is so strong on it's own, it doesn't need upgrading. Few years have past, but I don't need another incarnation of BAD ideas.
2) I saw a skiil on PAX, that basically allows you to just bring opponent closer to you (chain?) and kill him like in Amalur: Reckoning. This is actually cool, and it's a GOOD idea taken from someone else's game, but don't try to be Dragon Age 2 again, in terms of fighting mechanics. Some ideas from DA2 were actually pretty good, fighting was faster, more dynamic and interesting that way. Don't over do it, dough.
3) I'm highly impressed by the engine and graphics quallity, but I think it should be more dark in there. Dragon Age universe isn't about pastel, soft colors. It's about constant struggle for all kinds of races, fighting, multi-race conflict. Dragon looks just awsome, animation is first class, but c'mon. Thinking about yet another war, another conflict, when it's so damn soft and warm in there? This isn't Dragon Age, this is Plants vs Zombies (awsome game, but you know what I mean)
4) Speaking of softness. Remember Varric, this badd ass little guy from DA:2? Right now he looks so polished and smooth, he's more like baby's ass then Varric who can kill you with one giant storm of arrows. He's face looks just too good, he has no roughness in him. I don't know is it new engine or just new design for this character, but I for sure DON'T accept him right now. Too gentle, too soft, too "I want to be friends with everybody, even with my awsome, law voice". It doesn't match, people!
5) Speaking of character design - clothes looks fantastic, this black mage is pretty good. For sure, I want to see more high quality design from Bioware in that apartment but (it's always good time to say that) I want to see more affordable clothes for mages this time around. Origins sucked in that department, and robes were like 1:1000 (1 robe, 1000 pieces for a close range character)
Right now, game looks pretty awsome, and I'm highly impressed as a fan, but there are SERIOUS questions in few areas and I really don't wanna buy this game, saying: yup, it's Dragon Age all right, but it isn't MY Dragon Age. More heart, ladies and gentleman in Bioware. Don't try to make a game for everyone. Varric has personality on his own, doesn't have to be yet another smooth character for casual gamers. We don't need another James Vega. We need an amazing game for fans.
Please do just that.
