Having just watched the gameplay vids...

Well it looks fantastic, both scenery, companions and the inquisitor himself. Etc etc...

What I'm worried the most is that the wide exploration penalize the narration and story.

Like when they attacked that Grey Warden keep, the party just comes in by smashing the door (which was kinda silly but whatever), and kills everyone... we don't know who these people are, nobody even asks. They're just bad guys it seems. Unless they cut off some parts it appears like a generic dungeon populated with generic bad guys. I suppose I just like when our enemies have their own motivation instead of being meaningless mooks.

Also yeah "Red Templars"... having an important faction such as the templars go completely insane is never a good idea in my books. Reminds me very much of Cerberus. I hope to be wrong and they actually have a good reason to act that way.

Lastly I'm afraid adding mutliple races is going to be fan-service more than anything, without the reactivity and consequences it should have, particulary playing as a Kossith/Qunari. Again I hope to be wrong.

Not very found of the gameplay either, such as warriors rolling around, but I may very well change my mind about it controller in hand. The tactival view for all platforms looks like a cool addition though.

Still very looking forward to it - yet worried just as much.

I am literally running out of things to wish for because they keep announcing that all of my wishes are in DAI.

Couldn't be happier. Everything I wanted in the past games are appearing in Inquisition... ya.

Really liking what i see and hear. I especially like what i hear about the size of DA:I and the keeps.

I am glad Bioware has another whole year to polish the game. The wait will be torture but not near as bad as waiting for DA:O from when it was first announced. lol

I am definitely gonna need to upgrade my pc a bit before the game hits though. It is getting a bit long in the tooth and i want to enjoy the game on high settings.

A lot of people gripe about ME3 and DA2, but I seriously wonder what these gripers would play to satiate their story-driven RPG desires OTHER than a Bioware game. Because I've played a lot of games and even the worst of Bioware's games (DA2 in my opinion, but I still enjoyed it, currently on a 7th playthrough) vastly out-classes other imitators in my opinion. I doubt anyone passionate about Bioware's games, and by extension the Bioware RPG formula, will be able to stay away from DA:I or any future Bioware game no matter how much they gripe.

So to answer the question: Dragon Age: Inquisition is the game I'm most looking forward to in 2014 tied with Super Smash Bros.  It looks like it's really living up to the potential of what we all hoped the next step in quality after Origins would be.

I like some of the things but the news of the Red Templar has me wary.

The way the Red Templar stick was presented in the demo vid it made them come off as simply one of the many opposing side factions that you would and can simply avoid. Would you rather they not wrap up the red lyrium story and have them drop it similar to Mass Effect's Dark Energy plot?

Really hoping enemies aren't just a few groups of uniformed minions to be honest. Everything else is cool.

I don't understand how these assumptions of lack of story or it being filled with non-important mooks  come up when it is now a common thing for Bioware to show us action over story when it comes to conventions to avoid spoilers since the whole mishap of ME2 trailers showing too much.

Well, I don´t have any opinion or expectations right now. I am just waiting what will happen, but I admit, the gameplay footage impressed me a bit. It certainly looked good.

based on the information and small amount of in-game material we have seen so far?

Personally, I am really psyched based on what I have seen. It looks like they are putting a lot of time and care into this installment imo.

yeah - i don't want to pop your happy bubble, but a lot of that time goes into fixing what is not broken and that is just sad (health-regeneration, mounts, witcher-2-like gameplay...sorry, but a lot of things i saw are not to my liking at all...so i don't know)

Taking into account this is an Alpha, I'll give my opinion solely on the gameplay we've seen so far; these won't be my final opinions on the final release, hopefully, but thus far, here they are.

What I like so far:

*Much better combat than DA2. No more spastic Matrix flipping.
*Stunning graphics and environments.
*More exploration? Awesome
*Much better spell system.
*A return to tactics.
*Bioware staff seem to actually be listening to their playerbase thoroughly, rather than ignoring them for two entire game sequels (cough, DA2 and ME3, cough).
*Fluid animations, particularly in cutscenes. Much more natural than both previous games.
*An excuse for me to constantly and in a ridiculous accent exclaim "Nooobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!" throughout a video game.

What I don't like so far:

*Combat looks extremely hack-n-slashy.
*Dragon Age is turning into some kind of Skyrim-Witcher-Dark Souls hybrid instead of its own game.
*Apparent emphasis on fighting over storyline, no apparent balance.
*Return of too-oft-used corny dialogue. Dragon Age is known for its often funny dialogue, but DA:O mixed it well with the seriousness. DA2 had too many jokes, and from the dialogue I've seen, I'm hoping there's far more serious dialogue than what we have, particularly with companion banter.
*Seems to be heading down the "Let's appeal more to mainstream gamers" line Mass Effect walked.

What I hate so far:

*Some atrocious character and NPC designs, particularly your companions. I despise the whole "fantasy super badass black-cloaked sexy warrior" thing they're doing with the Inquisitor in artwork and gameplay.
*Red Templars. This was not needed, it isn't needed, and it never was, will, or ever be needed.

Intrigued. I'm one of those people that actually liked DA2/ME3 despite the flaws - just like I liked DAO/ME1/ME2 despite their flaws.

What I'm not fond of are people running around like chickens with their head cut off because Bioware shows footage of  character doing crazy things like moving and dodging and something other than standing there and waiting for your hotkeys to recycle, so it must mean they're going Witcher/Dark Souls/Skyrim/Dragon's Dogma combat. That means it's a hack and slash now with focus on combat over story, oh no!

It's a year plus away from release. Bioware's not going to blow their figurative load and tell you everything about the story now so they don't have anything to release for the next fourteen months. It's a Dragon Age game, and a Bioware game at that. You'll get your story, and likely plenty of it. Why isn't there more story footage yet aside from that? It makes a lousy con demo, that's why.

If you really want my opinion, it looks like they're trying to appeal to their core gamers again. They supposedly tried to appeal to mainstream gamers by making ME2 less of a clunky shooter than ME1 was, to y'know, get that COD crowd. They've been harping on the whole LGBT romance thing huge for like three games now. It seems to me like this time they're placing things back in focus where they belong, which is in making a good game first and catering to personal tastes later. That's why we've got races back, exploration back (from BG, even if people start harping on about that one 'we're looking at Skyrim!' statement), companion customization back, the tactical camera, and even the damn dialogue wheel fix people have been whining about for like five games now. I'm not sure how much more they can appeal to the core fanbase.

On the fence thus far. Part of me likes what I see but the other part has me leery.

The thing I love about Origins was the fact it was its own game. Then Dragon Age 2 comes along and Bioware started using stuff from other games. Now with Dragon Age Inquisition they seem to be following what they did in Dragon Age 2-recycling.

So far I am not exactly thrilled about, the new engine, the dialogue wheel and you can no longer carry whatever amount of potions you want.

I'll buy it and play it, but until I play it I just cannot make a direct opinion on it.

What I've seen so far looks like a vast improvement to DA2 and the announcement of playable races hast certainly intrigued me,the tactical view returning is also plus.
The whole thing with the keeps could also be interesting, all in all though I'm not 100% sure yet if I'm going to buy it,I'm still waiting on more substantial info in regards to how the skill system works, more details on companion approval, combat system and some more about the general storyline.
