Anything specific about the races? (Dwarves)

Racial abilities: "We're investigating".

BTW you can be a dalish mage :D

On a related note, did they mention anything about voices/accents for the different races?

I intended to ask that very question, but they didn't get to me.

I believe they intend to continue the established system of accents as much as possible - it sounded like it certainly, when they were discussing how they manage that with localization :P

eta: btw she mentioned actors from france, germany, uk, but odn't know if that was about actors for localizing or actors for the english version. she did sya that the main characters have basically all been confirmed, though not a hard and definite "all mains" and they didn't say anything more

On that: Melanie was talking about the challenges of localization - specifically wrt the differences in culture and class and how people sound in the real world - not necessarily accents following the convention established in DA2.

Was there any more information about mounts? Will you be able to ride your horse into battle and fight from horseback? Do your party members have their own horses/mounts? Is your horse allowed indoors?

No mention of mana or regen or anything about it, unfortunately.

Wait, shorts just told me they did say mana regens. But like everything else it's still being balanced.

Someone asked how mounts would vary in size based on the rider (dwarf->qunari) which led to some laughs about the dwarves riding a pony and struggling to keep up, or, as Matt Rhodes suggested, riding on Qunari horns.

But while they said they were still working on mounts, Matt said he'd played the game with a variety of characters and riding mounts looked great.

So take from that what you will.  I don't know specifically if the entire party has mounts, that'd be a good thing to ask though.

Qunari as mount for dwarf Inquisitors.

Semiconfirmed rumor :P

Did they say anything about switching party members? Do we have to return to our keep to swap out party members or can we do this at campsites in the larger area's as well?

Okay I need to qualify this because it was NOT ANSWERED SPECIFICALLY.

Keep in mind this is just my assumption based on impressions.

So again, repeat that to yourself outloud.

Okay.  So.  One of the big thrusts of the game is making exploration worthwhile but also making exploration dangerous (and therefore, satisfying).  The design seems to lead one to have to consider if they're prepared before venturing out from one of the Inquisition's keeps out into the dangerous world.  Therefore I'd assume you can only do it at the keeps, of which there will be many/several.

Just keep in mind, they did NOT say anything about party swapping locations and I am JUST guessing based on what they've chosen to stress.  I could very easily be wrong.

Further to that, health doesn't regenerate so it would seem strange if you could just sub out characters who are injured or bring in a healer. Just speculation of course.

No. But thanks to Matt Goldman, 3D-printed salmon is a strong possibility.

I was wondering if we could only do it at keeps, and that would make sense considering how they are stressing the importance of managing your health and resources.

Thanks for answering these questions, It's amazing just how much they are revelaing. It must be overwhelming at Pax.

I would agree with this - they have strongly emphasized that they want a session away from the keep/camp to require careful planning and risk vs reward - no regenerating health, limited option supplies... Letting you swap out a party member who got too wounded would defeat that purpose.

Oh thank god

Okay but real question time

Has anyone asked whether or not mabari will be around? I remember seeing some people debating whether we'd see the return of a mabari as a full companion a la DA:O or as a summon a la DA2

Nothing I saw on or about mabari.  Except said plushies.  Nobody asked, though.

Did they say anything in regards to being able to choose your background? Like if you can decide between dalish or city elf when choosing that race for your PC.

Thanks for all these answers btw. Are there any more Bioware/DA panels at PAX?
