I dont know if you can ask your companions, though they offered quite a lot of advice during EXPLORATION. "What's that thing over there?" - companion A, "It looks like a [description]" - companion B. Which is really helpful considering how vast and open the areas are. There arent blinking quest markers over interesting things you can explore, but you and your companions can spot them.

That's a really cool feature, and honestly one thing that's bugged me forever about exploration in games, i.e., just asking other people with you about stuff. Although we're not asking, having them talk about it is great!

Asked Mike about missing the guards outside Crestwood.  "You could go on without them.  The guards are a modifier [that improve your chances] not a requirement."  Basically you could try and stop the attack on your keep with or without their help.

We were informed the town was in danger before running into the guards and the mechanism through which we'd find out was not explained

Thanks for asking Upsettingshorts!

Alright, so it sounds like the countdown timer would have to be proximity-based and would kick in regardless of whether you spoke to the guards or not. My main concern was whether or not you could find yourself in trouble by exploring off the beaten track and a coutdown timer suddenly pops up and you only have some vague idea of what you're going to have to race around and achieve.

Yea, I figured as much. I think it will be in the game. Would seem kinda odd if they exclude cities.

In the video they had a countdown timer that basically showed the Inquisition losing the keep. One would assume when the bar depletes to 0 you completely lost it. I personally don't like it when games force me to do actions under time restrictions. I say that because I like to play games(especially RPGs) very slow. This is one where it seems like I'll want to do everything on the side first but I can kinda understand that's not possible when a pressing situation is happening around you. I sitll don't like that though.

My main concern with DA:I is we're going to be running around taking all these keeps and it will be a large portion of the game. Kinda like how ME2 was just one giant suicide mission. it kinda reminds me of that. Recruiting and building your Inquisition army up and gaining territories. I hope it doesn't end up like that.

eta: that reminds me, truthfully i never understood the appeal of powers like the storms and their combo, storm of the century. the huge casting time and only mediocre damage was absolutely not worth restricting my warriors from getting in there and running everything through in five seconds. sure, once or twice they could be useful, but i didn't ever think they were nearly as good as everyone else seems to. but maybe it's because i always played with friendly fire :P

Totally agree with you about the usefulness of a lot of those AoE spells and combos, but--holy cow!--"Storm of the Century" was visually beautiful!  I think David Gaider uses a screen shot of it as his forum avatar.

I think it's a cool mechanic. It's not something Bioware's ever done before, and it's something that they can expand on in sequels.

Don't get me wrong, I like the concept. I just hope it doesn't end up to where the only real main quests you're getting is assaulting keeps and then you build your Inquisition up for one final quest. That's too much like the suicide mission in ME2. I'm expecting your built up Inquisition to play a big part in the final quest...that's fine. I just want more variety in the main quests instead of going to new regions and just assaulting keeps. Which I'm sure they'll do. I hope...

as of right now, nope. Frostbite compiles for Windows, Xbox360, XboxOne, PS3, and PS4, so that's what we get. (and before you ask, porting to mac is not even remotely simple).

Lets say you upgrade your keep to be eficient in gaining supplies like mining and such and the resurses get depleted....
ARE resorses infinit ?
Can we change the keep from mining to military for example or once the choise is made you are stuck with it?

They didn't get into that much detail, probably because the specifics of keep economy is still in flux.

Yeah, I'm not to fan as well but I'm kinda glad we won't have another Redcliffe situation in the game.

Have they made any mention of how often these timed missions will occur, and whether there is fair warning as to when you're about to initiate one?

On a similar note, I am under the impression that the game will feature expiring missions like they had in Mass Effect 3 (e.g. the Tuchanka Bomb will explode if you take too long to do it). Is this a safe assumption?

Are polearms in?

If so, as their own type of weapon altogether, or included in one-hand/two-hand categories?

I'd love me some proper spear-and-shield action...

what exactly are the agents.... are they basicaly the inhabitants of the keep, are they something special, how do we get more, do we buy them, once we use them for a task do we lose them and have to get more or after every task they are free again?

They have made no mention of how many timed missions will appear or what amount of warnings will the player get. It'll probably be hinted by quest description, but this is assumption on my part.
Regarding the second part, they have said in the panel you could "Pull a Redcliffe", as in, if you leave a call for help unattended, there might be consequences.

It was implied that weapon restrictions per class are still there in one of the panels at Bioware Base.

They're figuring out the exact method of armor requirements.

No polearms so far. They're still locking down weapons.

They didn't elaborate on how agents would work

Just an update: If anyone has any lingering questions or desires clarifications I'll check this thread again tomorrow - likely after the final panel - and see if there's anything I can answer.

hey Upsettingshorts!

Do you know if warriors are going to get back duel wielding? :?
Thanks!

Apologies if it's already been asked, but someone else mentioned that they'd heard at PAX that 'one of the Origins characters will return and will have changed significantly based on your choices'.

Do you have any more information on that (is it, for instance, just refering to Morrigan and the ending choice?)
